canopy: Safire 149 rig: Mirage G3 suit: GTi wing loading: 1.45 BM Jump #1: Very Fast Opening, yet on-heading despite being head low upon deloyment. BM Jump #2: Very Fast Opening, got hit by either my risers (or container) hard enough to give me a bloody nose & a scrape along the front of my face. BM Jump#3-7: Very Soft & On-Heading Openings... I think my problem with my first two jumps had to do with insisting on pulling like I was taught which included leaving my leg's as straight as possible. Around jump #3 I started arching like a Mo_Fo for a couple seconds before deployment & then throwing out. Also I starting packing my D-Bag bridle side up & lines straight down instead of rotating the bag. With the suit my openings have gone from my normal 800 ft opening to some-where around 400 foot openings (at least when it opens soft)....

Look at the SIM on www.uspa.org, it has a page or two on night jump info...

I have a Mirage G3 (size M3) that I've packed bridle up a couple of times. It makes the container look longer and flatter (at least with my Safire 149). The closing loop is actually looser in this configuration. I can't tell any differences during deployment. I've been doing this because it is what is recommend by Birdman (or at least BMI in deland) when jumping a BM suit.

Kim @ Birdman claims that if your unconscious in a Birdman suit you'd be traveling fast enough for an Expert Cypres to fire. So assuming this is true (for the sake of arguement) would the only reason for having a "Birdman Cypres" be to prevent idiots from unknowingly flying the suit into the ground???

I had always believed Mullin's had the fastest King Air climbing to altitude (14K) in ~7 minutes, until I went to Skydive Space Center (Titusville, FL) where they claimed to have a King Air that gets to 15K in 6.5 minutes. So who has the fastest King Air & has anyone ever jumped SSC's King Air, are there claim's true?
-
Birdman recommends 500 if your simply going to sit down, read the manual and try it on your own. With instruction from a BM-I the minimum is 200 jumps. (so says Kim business manager of Birdman, and Rob T. the mirage ad guy) I did my first birdman jump (after instruction) with only 168 jumps & didn't have a problem.

Here's the info Derek sent me on the mod:

I'm jumping a Safire 149 w/ Derek's mod. loaded at around 1.4 and love it... Before the mod I was consistently getting 400 foot openings, not hard by any means... After the mod I'm now getting 600-800 feet openings that are feather soft. I've found myself pulling in a track just to speed up the openings a little bit sometimes for fun... Other Safire jumpers at my DZ just roll the noses of their canopy and get good slow openings...

I don't doubt it one bit, last year during these same dates they had $10 jumps (full 13.5K)..... Thanks for the head's up, I leave the convention Thursday night because I have a test Friday, but it looks like then I'll be going down to Deland for Saturday & Sunday at least..... Muahahhaaa

A Fedex Boeing 727 crashed trying to land in Tallahassee, FL.....even though the plane was completely destroyed the crew walked away, so I guess that would make it qualify as a "good" landing....
-
There's at least 70 different defined climbing routes up to the top..... Although the wind would have to be going the right way, cuz here's what the landing area looks like..... (see pic) First time I saw Devils Tower all I could think was whoa, I want to jump this...... I even asked the park ranger there if anybody had before and he grumbled at me and then told me to leave.......hahhahha .......fucker.....

It's ok to love your rig, just don't LOVE your rig....
-
You should have seen me at work today, sitting there for a good 15 minutes wearing this puppy.....
-
At least I know my monies are going to a good cause..... you had me worried for a second there.....
-
Hell, I only paid $145 for the round trip ticket's any ways....... Just found out it would cost $135 to change them... I would but I'm gonna max out the CC just jumping the 7 day's I gonna be there anyways....
