  1. shot of the 30way attempts in Skydive Sebastian during the Invasion last one taken by Kazuyuki Oyama
  2. What is a VRW state record attempt? Do you mean a head down formation? If so, this is not related to the question of the thread.
  3. the sarge and justinhax. Check out this link....maybe it will shed some light http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2861806;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;guest=40382778
  4. Like you said, it can even happen to those with thousands of jumps. A couple of months ago in Tecumseh Michigan, two very experienced jumpers with thousands of jump were doing a 2 way. Both are very familiar with the dz, the jump plane, and going to full altitude of 13,5. Both were so involved in their skydive that while facing each other in a head down carve, they both had Cypress fires. Yes you read that right. Both jumpers were uninjured, just very sore. One jumper was so dazed that once he landed he was walking around looking for his main. It can happen to anyone I suppose, I just hope I'm never that stupid....
  5. I see this thread being locked sometime in the future as people blast you. Why is there somebody wearing camera and doing a skyball jump that can't even get stable on exit? There are so many things wrong with this skydive, just thought I'd point out one observation and leave many for others to comment on. Nice Dolphin by the way.
  6. I expected a comment like yours from someone with such vast experience. One day you'll know better.
  7. Sharing photos for your booth is promoting your dropzone so it can do more tandems. That's not my idea of promoting the sport.
  8. There are plenty of sites out there by skydivers who sell photos. For you to ask photographers who on average have around $3,000.00 into their helmet setup to just SHARE their photos to be used for someone else's gain is quite audacious. I have some and I'd be willing to sell the full res image but not for less than $50 each. You be lucky to find anyone to sell the image. That is the property of the photographer. Once the photographer sells the image, anything can be done with it. Hope you understand this.
  9. There was this rule, you are correct. But now it even applies to the pond area.
  10. Another major US dz has adopted to 180 rule. Skydive Crosskeys has recently implemented this rule. It's sad one dz (SDA) can have such an effect. To implement a rule thinking it will fix things without any teaching, so sad.
  11. I showed up to this dz as a traveling jumper only to be treated like a mutant. They are only concerned with tandems and couldn't care about fun jumpers. I got bumped off a load once, got huge attitude from the manifester, and lots of dirt in my teeth from the mile long trailer ride. There was no organizing, or bunkhouse as they claim to have. The fun jumpers were all really cool but you could tell they didn't like the place either. It's a black hole of a dz that has no vibe. Never again.
  12. Oh boy. Should have known better than to say anything. Mark, PLEASE accept my apology. I had no idea I was "bitching". I have not "made any effort to do anything" since it's not my region, I was stating that many others HAVE by using communication. I never said it was easy, and thanks for the offer to try it, but I'll pass. Don't know why I responded to this thread, it was obvious a mistake since I hurt your feelings. I guess I would have spouted off a bunch of nonsence if a friend of mine was questioned. Sorry to everyone else for the thread hijack. Back to your posting, I'm out here, this site sucks.
  13. It's not really that big of a mystery why nobody wants to compete in that region is it? I know several people who voiced their concerns only to fall on deaf ears.
  14. Zhills for belly flying or wingsuit, Sebastian for freefly. Each dz has seems to have more of one discipline than the other. Sebastian also has a staff that is mostly From the UK, and great views. If you're between the two, Lake wales may be closest, but I don't know anyone who goes there anymore....
  15. No need to IM, it's common knowledge what's up. He's still in prison. Sunnydee who posts on here probably will have the most updated info on him. I don't think he's got a lot of time left, 2 years or less if memory serves me. Maybe she'll post how long. Gotta be tough...
  16. It seems that you are being heads up as far as your awareness in the sky as Brains said. A great way to get the feel for head down is exit with a group of 2-4 jumpers and exit on your head in a formation so that you can use the others to be able to maintain that position. After breaking the formation be sure to get back on your feet as you are a huge liability to everyone else being that you're not stable. More than likely, when you are on your head you are haulin ass forwards or backwards. For this reason you are like a human missile that will take others out. Check out this link for an example of this scenario http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEtPxivFQyE sorry for it not being clicky. I wouldn't really recommend just paying the slot of a local to check you out because if they don't have the skills of a coach to get out of the way, they are in danger. HD is fun, but so dangerous to learn. I myself can't believe I made it through the learning process safely. If you keep your awareness to traveling perpendicular to the line of flight and you go right to your feet when you start to get unstable, over time you will learn on your own. It will take quite a bit longer by yourself than with help. Nothing speeds up the process more than video and someone to debrief it with you. Regarding the exit, I would suggest exiting in a sit when you go solo since you can still track right up or down the line of flight quite a lot on your head from the door. Ride the hill in a sit and get your heading and got to your head. The largest bit of helpful information I can give is lock your legs out. Almost all of your stability will come from your legs. While keeping your legs quiet, try and be as relaxed as you can with your upper body. Hope this help you some. Be safe........
  17. Just want peoples thoughts on another small camera. I'm looking to use something really light weight, not really concerned with some loss of quality. I'm sure there may be things that won't let this work for freefall but I'm not that knowledgeable.... http://www2.oregonscientific.com/shop/product.asp?cid=20&scid=77&pid=709

    head down Q

You can get the best feel for being on your head by launching head down exits. You'll be able to use the support of the people with you on exit to stay on your head until you break grips, then quickly go back to your feet. As the other writer said, get some coaching. It is not necessary to go to Perris, just go somewhere that has a qualified freefly coach. There are so many out there, just jump with one that feels right. So many coaches have different styles, you'll find one that works for you. I highly recommend not trying to fly on your head with others unless they are coaches. Others may not have the skills to be ready for what you throw at them and you could hurt others or yourself. Hope this helps, have fun. And never neglect your sit, you'll regret it later if you do..........
  19. In my defense, the car did not totally roll, it just came really close to rolling. I think it was the e-brakes and the rocks that may have jjolted the camera around a bit since it was in the trunk playing pinball. I did feel bad about the whole thing. I recommend Costco since they do have the best return policy out there next to Walmart's free rental program. It's worth a few bucks to not have to buy a warranty. Sorry bout that car bro, it sure is funny now.
  20. Sebastian has a good scene, not much belly flying going on, just a lot of freeflying with probably the best freefly scene in Florida. The wait for loads are short with plenty of organizing.
  21. Hey Grant, has anyone told you type like an asshole. Get off you're high horse. If this is a personal attack, tell someone who cares.
  22. a few pics taken over the past year.....
  23. This weekend folks. Hope to see some new faces......and some old ones.
  24. So far I've heard from two other people that we're part of the world project team in the U.A.E. and they're coming out for this along with another guy from the 53 way. Quite a good amount of talent to learn from that have voiced they are coming. These are all guys that will be happy to help with any questions you may have.....
  25. Sebastian 5 along with CK1 is putting on a camp in Crosskeys this July 29,30. We will be covering all aspects of big way flying with video debriefs, along with pre jump briefing using video. We will also cover all other aspects besides the freefall itself. This camp will be a very encompassing, leaving no stones unturned. Feel free to email me for any questions. I've attached a flyer for the camp which can also be seen at www.sebastian5.com under the events link....jim
