Wouldn't miss it for the world. Linda was such a sweet soul, always ready to help, with a smile and kind word. Even though it's been years since we connected, I will miss her. Fly Free, dear Linda. May you fly with the dragons . . .

Too many memories, but I'll account a few here. I read Pat Work's on-line persona when we were back at rec.skydiving and was immediately intrigued by his creativity and out-look on life. Which lead to speaking with him about what his writing -really- meant. Little did I know that I would be privileged to interview him, years later, for his 30th anniversary on the creation of the GodFrog Award! Thank you John Kallend for furthering this with a write up and web page! Then there was the time that I got a frantic call from the Perris School that Pat was needing me ASAP in the Perris bunkhouse. He was very ill. That lead to a 911 phone call and life flight to a trauma center. Pat had a rough landing at the beginning of the weekend, but shrugged it off and kept jumping. Seems that his brain developed a very small bleed, which progressed over the weekend, until Sunday he developed signs of an intercranial hemorrhage! Surgery and Physical Therapy and Pat was 'good as new'. I always wondered how his therapists took his quirky personality . . . did they know that his mentality was pre-existing? Or did they believe that his head trauma caused the 'disorder'? I'll always remember the skydive that he humbly asked if he could join and lurk. He freeflied around us, just a beautiful as could be. I always admired his skill (seen from video and writing). Now I was able to see it in person. I'll miss you Pat! So incredibly glad I that I got to see you one last time at the Perris 40th reunion. You were (are) one in a million! Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Until the sweat made the Teva's smell bad. After getting a shoe stripped off by someone behind giving me a flat tire on exit, I always carried another cheap pair of shoes in the car. Sucks walking back to the packing area, over rocks, without a shoe on! And of course, videoing CReW, I saw many a shoe being lost. Meh; Glasses are so last year; I'm looking forward to a HUD in my contact lenses. And me, a functional eye implant with recording capabilities. Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Saving for your first jump, and other life lessons!

That's bullshit. Oh, wait, no it isn't. http://nbclatino.com/2012/11/17/will-twinkies-be-reborn-through-new-mexican-ownership/ There's something very fundamentally wrong with the name "Bimbo's Twinkies". Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I actually find this very disturbing. Have we, as a society, become so numb to other's misfortune that we laugh at a potential life limiting situation? Sure, this man (or should I say 'boy') was extremely stupid, but I find his father's reaction even more nauseating. It's like we expect "America's Funniest Home Videos" to be real life situations without injury? They hardly even show the complete story, only the 'incident' that was 'hilarious'. Like it was a cartoon and the next slide will have 'Wile e Coyote' up and running around again. Working in the medical field, with teenager head and spinal cord injuries in numerous numbers, its a young person's 'less than thought-through' actions that got them there. Its not a laughing matter. This young man will be physically altered the rest of his life. And back pain will be the least of his problems. Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

That's awesome! Sending it on to my cycling friends! Thanks for posting (and no, I hadn't seen the clip before) Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

"Pink Skies" is also available on DVD from Amazon.com, and the winner of several awards this year. A work of love from our own Gulcin Gilbert. http://www.pinkskiesthemovie.com/ Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

This may be a cancelled trip. At least for cycling. It's currently raining, and the west coast looks the same the rest of the week. Clouds are great, but not this wet stuff. I'm not that hard core! Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Unless you're riding with a group that has scheduled 'meet-up' stops along the way. Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I use the free version of Strava for my rides. Can't bring myself to pay the monthly charge for the upgraded version. I like it, for the most part. One upgrade I'd like to see is that it pauses recording when you stop. The current version does not. Talk with Elsinore skydiver, Charles Wynn, who uses both Strava and Runkeeper. He prefers Runkeeper, so what do I know? Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I've jumped at Monterey's DZ, and yes it is a beautiful view. Since I'll be bringing other gear I'm not sure what else will fit in my MINI. Some people know how I pack. ;^) Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

May have to stop by Madera just to say 'hi' to the peeps there. And if I decide to shorten my trip and get to Ficklin a day early I'll let you know. Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Things are shaping up for the trip, and thanks for all the connections here and on PM! Here's the possible itinerary so far: --Santa Barbara for both an Tuesday AM solo warm-up and PM group ride with the locals up there. The countryside looks beautiful from the pictures I've seen so far. http://www.sbbike.org/region/rides/rides.html http://www.centralcoastcycling.com/ --Solvang for a longer Wednesday day ride. Most likely on my own, unless I can find a group ride. I know they just had a Century ride up there earlier this month. Two of my SoCal friends were up there for the event and loved it! http://www.bikescor.com/solvang/ Oh, just found a Thursday morning breakfast ride in Santa Maria! May have to fit this one in as well. Have always liked the idea of a mid-morning snack. :^) http://www.tailwindsofsantamariabc.org/calendar.html --Fort Ord group ride. Already connected for this Thursday ride in the evening. http://www.meetup.com/Over-the-Top-Cycling/events/dnpwjcyqgbjc/ --17 mile ride in Monterey on Friday morning. I have old high school friends who may join me for this. http://www.pebblebeach.com/activities/explore-the-monterey-peninsula/17-mile-drive High school reunion over the weekend in Monterey (yay! It's been 30 years! Wow! ) Then over to Ficklin Vinyards for wine tasting on Monday. I found their port at BevMo earlier this year and absolutely love it. I've wanted to visit their winery ever since. This is the perfect time! (burn all the calories before filling myself up again ) http://www.ficklin.com/ Anyone want to come along? Where's the 'Like' button! Yes, we'll have to connect! Watching the Redlands Bike Classic right now. What legs these men have! Ooo La La! Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

So, I'm finally taking a vacation away from the home front next month! Yay! It's actually circling around my high school reunion in Monterey. I'm now part of the bicycling scene, so I thought I'd take the week and make it a road trip, with stops to ride around some scenic places. I already have contacted a club up in that area and am riding a loop around Fort Ord (they have a weekly Thursday ride). I'll also be touring 17 Mile Drive's scene on the bike. http://www.pebblebeach.com/activities/explore-the-monterey-peninsula/17-mile-drive. I'd love to meet with DZ folks as well along the way. Perhaps other bike enthusiasts as well.
