I saw a video of someone doing this same thing at a foreign boogie and the results were the same. Determination was that he was too disoriented and dizzy when he came out of the spin to know both how low he was and when to flare. Very nasty. Lisa! Wow! Glad you were able to make your milestone dive a fun and dz.com one anyway. It's really neat to see people from this newsgroup every weekend now. Thanks for putting the record together and increasing my circle of friends once again. Ain't skydiving great! Wuffos just -don't- get it! Wish I could have made the jump with you. But you're right...my team was beat by the end of Sunday. We have another team training day this coming weekend (with Iron Crank included). Yes...had a 20 jump wonder doing the last of her RW dive requirements for the 'A' license do just that! Luckily I was off to the side (although still above filming the 2-way). I turned on my side and (wings inflated) slid past her opening canopy. Missed by about 30 feet, but that was -close enough-! She had been taught to (and told to) track at break-off but all she did was turn 180 and dump! Thanks Bill for an informed response. I knew the little plastic card that comes with a Cypres didn't cover this issue and after 9-11 and the new technology that -will- be coming onboard soon, could have been a concern. Paul Bertorelli, in a letter printed in Skydiving Mag's March edition brings up an issue about the Cypres charge and checking rigs on commercial airlines. [Quote]: "The serious problems, I think, lie in the future. As explosive sniffing technology becomes more commonplace, is the cutting charge in a Cypres going to set off the alarms? If so, you won't be able to check it or carry it on." [/End Quote] Any 'Experts' out there who want to address this consern? Good story!! My first mal/cutaway was on a similar senario. Except my line twists (all the way up from risers to canopy) had both toggles stowed. -I- unstowed one (like an idiot) and sent the thing into a spin. Chopped at 3 grand and spent the day in a bad humor for my stupidity. Oh....ended up renting gear and doing 3 more jumps just to clear my head...I was SO pissed! At least my JM's were at a different dz, so they couldn't hound me! Geeze...skygods can be somethin' else, huh? __________________________________________ http://www.discover.net/~ltdiver
