    My $40 quandry

Working in a rehabilitation hospital and seeing bad choices made by our young people, and how a little bit of headed advice from parents may have changed the event, I side with those encouraging grounding your son's car until this safety issue is properly dealt with. Pull the battery. Removed the wheels. Whatever it takes. The message will be loud and clear, and perhaps maddening enough to your child to make the point clear. The agony a parent goes through, when there is a preventable and tragic event, is worth the action. Now. Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. I saw a bunch of these nutcases milling around Hollywood and Highland the other day. I might need to take some photos of them on May 20 so I can go back on May 22 to see if any of them have changed their mind about the date. I think they'll be too embarrassed to show their face that day, thus leaving us to wonder what really happened to them. Why? They'll just move the date again. They've done it before. Ah, a moving target! Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

    Cats-Be-Gone!

Sorry to hear you're subjected to something so miserable. :^( Here's my suggestions: (and not in any particular ranking) 1) Wash the cat! He'll be scared of you after that and stay FAR away from you (and he'll be clean, and less allergy producing for awhile). 2) Put in a kitty gate in front of your door (or do they only make those for dogs and children?). 3) Move? 4) Electronic sensor that makes an unpleasant sound to the cat's ears (but inaudible to you and the other guests of the house). 5) The solution that I really use is a mixture of vinegar and water to spray in areas I want to ward off my neighbor's cats. One of her tom cats used to pee on my new front door. It was disgusting! Nothing worked (including talking to my neighbor about it). Then I did a google search and found this solution. So far it's worked great! Have to clean up the area first, to get rid of the cat odor, but then on the clean area spray the solution every day. 2 years later, my front door is still dry. And no more vinegar spray needed anymore. (or did the tom cat die?) As an aside: A book I'm reading about allergies suggests this: Alot of pets who spend time outdoors get into plants that have alot of pollen on them. The pet carries this indoors. The owner is allergic to the pollen . . . walla, they *think* they're allergic to the CAT! (might want to try washing the cat, 'eh?) 5. ABC is reporting that those in planes flying at 35,000 feet tonight heard the news and broke out cheering! Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  6. You do realize that it was exactly 8 years to the DAY since that photo-op. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_Mission_Accomplished_Speech Wow. Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  8. DSE, my word of caution was for Openingshok's post. I would never hold or want my head to go backwards, thus my post. A cervical spine has flexibility but if my neck was to be forced by a hard opening I would want the fault direction to be compression down and second, forward. 9. To each his/her own, however my medical background has me siding against this posture for openings. Take a look at this picture and the location of some major arteries here: http://radiopaedia.org/images/14095.Neck extension injuries have been known to damage these vessels when they stretch and tear. I've treated several patients who've had this from both whiplash and leaning their head back for washing at the beauty salon: http://ezinearticles.com/?Beauty-Salon-Sinks&id=304309. To say nothing of the skeletal structures that can be severely and permanently damaged: http://radiographics.rsna.org/content/25/5/1239.full. Just a word of caution. 10. Check out Hip Resurfacing. A Perris skydiver had both of his hips resurfaced a few years back after suffering severe arthritic pains for quite awhile. Best move he ever did, he reports. He can walk pain free and is skydiving better than ever. Your doctor has to do a work-up on you to see if you're eligible for this procedure, but if you are it's much better than the traditional (and more easily dislocated) hip replacement. 13. Had alot of fun rebuilding my boyfriend's Mazda RX2's rotary engine back in the day. One of my favorite classes still to this day. The homework didn't suck, either! Well there's a problem, right there Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  16. If you have an iPhone, there's a free app called "Mixology". Among all the alcohol listings, there's a complete category of non-alcoholic drinks as well. It's a great app. Fun to take to bars and ask for something they've never heard of, too, and have them make it! Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  19. I see now *this* is what you are doing. ;^) Learned recently that a nice hot toddy is fantastic for colds and sore throats. Don't know if what was mixed for me had whisky or whiskey, but it was sure good! Happy researching! :^) Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  21. Sounds like it might be a procedure I had a couple of years ago called Sinus Trephination. I had a Sinus Mucocele, which basically means that the exits to the sinus have closed up by bone, not letting the sinus drain. The pressure builds up and the mucus cannot escape. The Sinus Trephination basically opens up the sinus and allows it to drain again. And yes, it is a 'roto-rooter' up the nose and through the side of the sinus . . . opening it up. Caution if you watch the video. It is quite graphic! And to answer you on how long until jumping again? 2-3 weeks for me. Worked great! 22. Saw it tonight ( Netflix streaming ). Amazing footage and story! While watching my mind kept flipping between our own BASE jumpers and the planning and emotions they must go through and the views of the World Trade Center from it's conception and building to their destruction and lives lost. My body physically jolted when that one freeze frame came by with the jetliner flying over top of the towers. I agree. A must see! 23. Started Netflix this year and started checking off titles I'd heard about. Got this one in the mail this week. Wow! Didn't know what I was getting in to! Had tears rolling the last 30 minutes so much I could hardly see the screen. What a profound message. Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  24. Me too, and Barb Duke's information too. I feel like if I delete the numbers, I've deleted them. Me too. JP's and Barb's. Facebook is another one. A growing number on there as well that won't be removed. Miss you guys! Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  25. My kitchen sink clogs every couple of years and I have to have it snaked to get it cleared. Turns out that when the house was built they put a sharp right angle in the pipe as it passed from under the sink and through the wall. The plumber was amazed that the designer did this, but there it is. :^( Maybe your under sink pipe has the same problem? Not just the trap.
