I have slightly more than 1000 jumps on my mPOD now. I'm never going back! Euhm, not really, no. I wrote an article for the BPA Skydiving Magazine about my experiences with the mPOD. The article can be read online on their website: http://edition.pagesuite-professional.co.uk/launch.aspx?referral=mypagesuite&pnum=&refresh=d07F19Gt5f1T&EID=fa8161d4-96c3-43a4-b046-eb59ff49abad&skip=/ Loading their webreader and browsing to page 13-15 might take a while. Send PM to get an electronic copy for easier reading.

You're probably referring to the mPOD: http://pgasus.be/start.php?lang=en Get one. You'll love it.

I'm looking for the SCM. The USPA website is not working properly, and I see the following message every now and then: "hacked by 1923Turk Efeler Ozel Harekat DigitALL Efe KroNicKq Nofearx38" If somebody could send me a direct link to the SCM, that would help ... Thanks, M.

Weirdest Malfunction ever - packing mistake?

Get one of these: http://www.chutingstargear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=50_54&products_id=391 or have your rigger make one for you (will be cheaper). -
Maybe have a look at the snaps on the Competition Velocity. This addresses the same problem you're trying to fix and PD has done all the R&D and testjumps for you. I've jumped the same canopy with and without those snaps, and the difference is very noticeable. http://performancedesigns.com/docs/RDS_operational_instructions.pdf

You can even get rid of the 2 stows. Check out the mPOD: http://www.pgasus.be/start.php?pg=text&item=mPOD I have 500 jumps on mine, about 50% freefly, and 50% hop-n-pop.

Keep it simple and change the title of this section.

The speed course was not an FAI/IPC speed course. It was a 55m long S-carve, instead of a 70m carve. -
Time to Vote on New 4-way VRW dive pool by this SAT NITE!

Should be available soon (March 1st the very latest) at http://www.fai.org/parachuting/documents/sportingcode2009 and of course http://vrw4way.com And yes, should be in the 2009 SCM. -

PD Factory Team X-Project Update 2
breadhead replied to m0ng00se007's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
According to what IPC rule? I know at least two competitors at the last WPC in South-Africa who were swooping with their chest straps disconnected (while landing that is, not while exiting the plane). -

I cannot believe we would see one spectator less, just because there is an extra formula in the Excel sheet. I like simple solutions too. I fail to see what is so complex about squaring scores. (http://www.quotedb.com/quotes/1360) -

Square the speed scores, clever! Do the same for the distance scores. Do the opposite (=square root) for the accuracy scores. That is (1) simple and (2) achieves the goal of balancing the importance of the different events. PS: For those who don't agree with this being simple, check what the Artistic Event committee did with the compulsory rounds in Freefly ... -
I sent them an email last weekend, I'll keep you informed when they reply.

Euhm, sorry Matt, I think I'm not really understanding your answer. It's probably me. The ring is in the middle, so your initial answer suggests (first point) that it is only useful in the case of no kill-line. Now, if that were the case, I'm sure the high-performance canopies (at least Velo's, Katana's) would not have the metal ring, since these are always to be used with a kill-line anyway. There must be something more to it.
-
Two weeks ago, I had exactly the malfunction you describe. I'm more careful with stowing the rds line now, but I still wonder what the purpose of that metal ring is.
-
From a well-respected manufacturer of skydiving gear, I honestly expected something more useful than mockery over my ignorance. My AFF-instructor used to say: in skydiving there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers... I would still very much appreciate hearing you explain the reasons for the metal ring.
-
What is the purpose of the metal ring in the bridle attachment point, on the top skin of the canopy?
-
It's common knowledge among competition swoopers to wear tight clothing rather than a baggy freefly suit or a wide sweater. On a highly-loaded canopy the difference is very noticeable.
-
You're right, sorry for that, but assuming it was the correct hand? So, block 2 can be done in "front"? Instead of stingering from "behind"? It's still the same grips, but it would be like raping the divepool ...
-
Does this new interpretation of the rules make the Random "I" on the Parachutist cover correct after all? I wouldn't mind seeing a few examples of what is now allowed that was not allowed before.
