I've recently moved from Lynchburg, VA, to Concord, NC. Both cities are almost 2 hours from multiple dropzones... Anyway, my reserve is out of date and I'd rather not have a 3-4 hour round trip to drop it off. Does anyone know of a rigger who lives near Concord? I could bring it to them locally and then make the trip to the DZ when I'll actually be able to jump. Thanks in advance! -------- Benefitting from the 'free capture of verticality.'

Does anyone know of a website or database that lists local riggers for different areas? I know I can find the closest DZ by searching this website or USPA's and then ask whoever answers the phone, but I'm looking for something more structured? The closest DZ to me now is about 2 hours away and I'd like to be able to dropoff/pickup my rig at the closest rigger's house (or 'day job') without such a drive if I'm not out to jump that day. It would be nice if there was a central (searchable) site that riggers could input their own contact information and location data. I wondered if this would come up. I was there and saw the "kids" on bikes. That 'kid' happened to be a non-jumping staff member from a nearby DZ to the south and his grandson. I know this because myself and some others noticed the kid and asked his grandfather to have him stay off the taxiways. It seemed kind of fishy to us at the time, but since no one had mentioned it, neither had I. As far as disobeying common procedures, I know I didn't see any of that. I am a CFI, CFII, MEI, ATP, so I have an idea of uncontrolled airport procedures. I did not listen to any of the pilot's radio communications, but then again, they aren't required at the airport, so if he made any, he was doing well. If he took off and landed on airport property, he was following procedures. Also, there weren't exactly traffic jams of aircraft trying to taxi when the Otter was loading, in fact there were no aircraft waiting. Your statements that I have quoted above are here-say. Progress has been made. You now have nothing to be upset about. The website no longer makes any of the false claims or exaggerations that it used to. They don't even make promises to have those things soon. I guess everyone can be happy and excited for a new full-time-turbine DZ in the KC area!

I know I had a great time. It was good to be back in my old stomping grounds. I got to see a whole lot of familiar faces and make some quality jumps. I wish Paul and Jo the best on keeping the place going strong. It will take a while to let the dust settle. Especially when the current operations feel so much like a boogie. By that, I mean, packing under a tent on a tarp, jumping with people from at least 7 states (my count, maybe there were more), port-a-potties, and other such "boogie-ish" amenities (or lack thereof). If they keep up with the determination and friendly atmosphere, I don't think they'll have any problems at all. -------- Benefitting from the 'free capture of verticality.'

I accidentally gave my passengers "that rollercoaster feeling" the other day while showing the aircraft owner in the right seat the use of trim. I didn't think about the fact that we were flying at over 200 mph when I showed him what happens when you "spin this wheel here."
