Why should you have to pull the reservehandle if you know the RSL pulled the reserve out already? ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

poohbeer replied to poohbeer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This just happened or you had that problem before?, when I land I pop my ears, the right one is always a little 'slow', same thing if I swim, some water stays there, I had my ears checked years ago, no problem, but if this persists, you might need to visit the doctor, I'm just telling you my experience. Nope, never happened before.. just occured after I took a ride back down with the plane.. hurt my ears like hell damnit.. If it aint gone by this weekend I'm seeing a doctor. Keep ya guys posted. ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! pressure problems with ear 2 days after jumping
poohbeer replied to poohbeer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Nope otherwise perfect health. Just one ear that keeps bugging me. Also when I blow with my nose held shut the ear keeps 'popping' no matter how often I do it or how long I don't do it (several ours). ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! pressure problems with ear 2 days after jumping

Anybody here that can tell me if it's normal that my right ear (left is fine) still feels like is has effects from increased/decreased pressure and that horrible sounddistortion thingie with it 2 days after doing my first couple jumps? Or do I need to see a docter about it? ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! but I conquered my stupid fears and got up again for another 3 jumps. WIIIIIIIIHAAAAAA!!! AFF rules.. unfortunatly I don't.. worst of my 'class' and didn't complete AFF unlike all the others I needed 4 jumps to get stable enough for the instructors to let go.. 5th jump even some more getting used to the idea. 6th jump FINALY completely awake and doing my best to keep that heading. Damn feet wont't stay in the correct position the second I think about something else 6th jump also was the last one.. all my tickets used up and no more money to finish the entire AFF course so going back another time with lots and lots of money and even more time to spare.. I WANT THAT PERMIT!!! Oh, under parachute I'm doing ok, no radio guidance required even on first jump.. perfect flare en perfact stading ups and even quite on target! At least I don't suck at everything Oh, and I did get that expensive video of my first jump but thanks to my double keying on the first jump the cameraman jumped the gun before I exited so I got a video of my 3rd jump for free sorry for the blanter but nobody's home and I just needed to shout this out. ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! http://herbertholeman.com/para/units/plf.htm says the oppposite: "Move the body to form an arc as the PLF continues. Start the PLF when the balls of the feet touch the ground. The licenses are Federation Aeronautique Internationale licences so they are international I believe. http://www.fai.org/parachuting/certificates_proficiency/ should give more info ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! You should peel even with both hands on one handle. The handles sits in a little pocket, so if you're not peeling/twisting first and pulling down the handle can be stuck at the bottom preventing you from pulling it. Get stuck? is't velcro'ed ontop of our suits.. don't see how it can get stuck anywhere. And since my instructor didn't mention this peel thingie while discussien emergency procedure I guess it is no problem for me. When I finaly get to go for my first jump I will first double check this with the instructor ofcourse ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! Official parachuting disciplines
poohbeer replied to poohbeer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Making a website for school and ofcours it's about parachuting. Now I know some disciplines already but has anybody got a complete -official- list somewhere? ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! ok, understand now.. We are being thought to look at the "cutaway"-handle, grab that handle with both hands, look at the reserve handle, pull the cutaway handle, grap reserve, pull. Just a tad slower in executions but no peeling needed since you've got force from both arms.. witch should be enough I hope ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! Why not simply use the sigs divided by a space with a standard smaller lettertype size? I've seen this being used on several other forums and works great. You still get to see the sigs but they're no way near as confusing anymore. examples: gathering.tweakers.net & www.motor-forum.nl/forum Also, automatic conversion of url's to clickable url is done great at both those forums (hint hint) ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! don't know what peel is but shouldn't pull right be before you grab left? Otherwise you loose time going from right to left and back again, no? ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! question about deployment systems on student rigs?
poohbeer replied to outofit's topic in Safety and Training
What exactly is that BOC type? We (dropzone in Holland) still use ripcord with spring but there's already talk about changing to a throwout systems. Is this throwout system BOC? Why is it better anyways? ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! Attended AFF instruction last weekend. No jumps due to bad weather. But in that theoretical session everything was explained very wel (freefall, emergency procedures, landing procedures, equipment, ..) but nothing was said about the canopy other than how to land. From 5000 till 1000 we may have some fun with our canopies though. Having fun is ok but just doing some turns without knowing what you're doing isn't gonna teach me much either I think. So the question is, what stuff can an AFF student do under the canopy to have some fun AND learn someting about flying that thing at once? I can hardly believe turning left and right is all an AFF student (even level 1) can do up there, is it? ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! shins? what's that You you mean a chin (the thing that's made of your lower jawbone)? I was looking for some informational topics on tracking but when searching the resultslist gets flooded with post from the same topic. Isn't it possible (and a good idea) to have an option to display only topics and not individual posts when searching? ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! You lucky!! I had planned AFF also for the past weekend but guess what.. Stupid weathergods.. friday beautifull weather but theoretical instruction. Saturday horrible rains.. Sunday blue skies with here and there some white clouds but waaaaaaaaaaay to strong winds. So I'll have to wait another few weeks ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!!
