I don't realy get this.. Reserves aren't ment to be fun to fly. They are ment to save lives. Everybody agrees that a big 280 is way easier and more gentle then a 120 sq f. So why doesn't everybody use that biggasschute as a reserve so that even when unconsious the landings are doable? mm, without goggles you offcourse close your eyes partially to prevent the winds from blowing into theml and bringing you to tears. ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! I have soft contacts. I don't think it's a pain to figure out which side is in or out. Maybe its cause i've worn them so long. Then you certainly haven't got -11 vison on both eyes ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! from your speaking I think you have hard contacts.. figuring out which side is in or out on soft lenzes is already a pain with wind blowing besides you The spare glasses I have with me.. I'll ask the instructor 'bout it and see what he says I'mm off to AFF now.. hope to see ya guys again on monday ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! bill, I'm a complete idiot at skydiving (hoping for my first jump tomoroow ) but I was reading the other topic ion turbulence asswell and there someone gave a link to http://www.performancedesigns.com/faq.htm#4. There it states: "Contrary to what some people have been told, flying in brakes does not necessarily help keep the canopy pressurized. Aerodynamically, the canopy is actually more susceptible to turbulence in brakes. Years ago, flying in half brakes seemed to make some older ram-air canopy designs more stable in turbulence, though they were obviously very different from modern canopies. Flying in brakes is definitely not the best technique to use with the canopies we're flying today, although a lot of skydivers are still told to use this technique.". Isn't that from (I take) thé experts saying the opposite from what you say? Or do I miss something? *hats off* anyways to you.. you do come over like someone to stop for and listen to! singing off now.. go to get going for my theoretical AFF woohoooo!!! ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! in the thread there seems to be an agreement that directly pulling reserve might be the better option. But why is that? The main won't do you good anymore but could entangle.. so why not cut away that thing? Simply to preserve altitude? (only starting AFF in 3 days so bare with me if I say something stupid) ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! I'm not planning on buying any gear untill I passed my AFF. Putting (1 of) my contacts back in during flight would only be to get my visoon back to par.. the lens itself is worthless to me. I will be grabbing me one off those glasses now though ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! There are a couple of things I ALWAYS have in my car: rewetting drops and 2 pair of contacts. But thanks for the tip! ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

Starting my AFF coming Friday but I'm wondering how likely it is to loose one or both contacts. I'm using soft weekly lenzes so loosing one doens't matter for the wallet, but if I lost both I simply cannot count my own fingers on a streched arm. Yes my vision is that bad. And pointing to the altimeter doesn't confuse them as to thinking check altitude? I'm doing friday my theoretic, saturday refresh theoretical and then al saturday and sunday jumping. If I can't finish it by then another weekend will be added. Only thing I fear is that the stress and adrenaline kick will wear me out to much on day 1 (or even 2) of jumping. Anybody got comments on this fast learning thingie? Is it even doable? ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

*gulp* Already with AFF jump 1 you enjoyed the exit?! I'm hoping on doing AFF real soon and there's only 1 thing that scares me shitless.. and that's when the door opens and I will have walk to that door and jump myself. Tandem was easy.. didn't see the ground (heads up) when we exited but AFF wont be like that.. brrr Are you a natural or any hints on enjoying something scary as that? Or don't your instincts tell you it suicide jumping out of a plane?! ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!! I've got a pretty good (hey! it features me!) tandem video but them guys edited it and put some REALY afwul music underneeth. Not even 1 track but like 4 tracks on 2 minutes worth of video. So what I want you all to do is give me your alltime favorite freefall background music so i can edit the bloody thing into something respectable ------- SIGNATURE BELOW ------- Complete newbie at skydiving, so be critical about what I say!!
