  1. You should try giving yourself that kind of advice. Only a "quitter" quits, get my drift??? When you "quit" skydiving, what do you plan on doing then? You go "troll" somewhere else.
  2. Guess theyll have to just keep "blinging" me until I wake up and come out of my wierd fantasy, whatever in the hell that is. Please explain in English, Id really like to know what youre saying here....
  3. Silly skateboard? Let me fill you in on something, Practically every surfer akateboards for balance training, and thats not silly if you plan on not falling every 5 seconds. That is the best and most accepted way to get balance training if you cant surf every day, so I do it every time I get a chance, because it takes that much practice. If I go to the swimming pool, to pick up mail, whatever, I use it for transportation just to get in that much more balance training. Surfing is very difficult and you cant get enough. I would hardly call that silly, I know people older than I am who skateboard. And its pretty good excersise since it works out your legs, much more fun than "running" or the step machine. I was thinking of going there to Sebastian, still thinking about it. Think its worth the trip from AZ?
  4. I hear you telling me that, but my question is why dont I hear them telling me that? I told the management there I wasnt serious about it and just wanted to go tandem once in a while. I told them the same things Im telling here, then got in this big competitive discussion about surfing vs skydiving and I made it clear I dont want to be a skydiver. Why isnt that instructor telling me what youre telling me? They dont want me to keep going tandem, they are going to keep talking me into the A license til lhe end of time. I dont even think theyll let me do another tandem-2 unless I purposely flunk it, and if I do, then I get to listen to it. They keep pushing me towards this A license thing. It cant be about money, they make more on tandem jumps. Im going to talk to my trainer in SoCal when I get there next week and see what he says. Im going to this one tandem this weekend, then after that I may just stop going back there. That would end this big dilemma. I dont know if I even want to start hang gliding after this, something makes me think Ill have to deal with that too.
  5. 6 hours. No, I stay for 5 days at a time. Okay, so shoot me. I just didnt see how anyone could be that fanatic about skydiving but I guess yall are. LIke I said, its okay, something else to do thats extreme, but just dont want to go through that much trouble for it. I wouldnt go through too much trouble to go mountain climbing either but I do that every weekend, since the moutains are down the street from where I live and it gets you in great shape.
  6. We dont have "whuffos" in surfing, if youre out with everyone else on the waves, you have to deal with the same thing they deal with. You can go from beginner to pro in a matter of seconds, or be crushed, take your pick. If your out with the locals youre just as good as anyone else and get that respect. Unless, ofcourse, you drop in on somebody. Not something you want to do.
  7. Man, I dont know. Maybe its just me, but this sounds pretty weird. Most people dont understand why Im fanatic about surfing and think Im a little crazy, but they just dont understand it. Its an aquired taste and you just dont start liking it right away, it just takes a hell of a lot of work, I can remember those days, and why I wanted to keep doing it after getting curled under too many times. Still, surfing is a lot more popular, so why is that? Its pretty dangerous in most places, so you can compare.
  8. My condolences. I can see moving to Bells Beach, Australia to become a full time surfer, but then again, surfing is the source and nothing else matters. We are talking about skydiving here, and DZs. Surely youre not going to give it all up for that? Get serious, what are you trying to do, make yourselves miserable or just bore yourselves to death? Youre beginning to worry me. Go get a surfboard, Im going out next weekend.
  9. Wake up, make coffee, take a shower, ect. That takes 1 and half hours. Then the drive out there. Im not driving out there half awake and then jumping out of an airplane in cold air.
  10. If you're not really serious about skydiving, why are you doing it? Good question. Im still thinking about that, and fighting the issue. I was only going to do it one time and move on. Its not the danger that's the problem, its the involvement. Surfing's my #1 and thats dangerous, so danger isnt an issue. You build up a certain amount of insecurity over time if youre away from the coast, so I thought about using it to reduce insecurtiy next time I go out catching waves. Seems like a good idea, but all I really need is tandem jumps, dont really need any more than that. I feel like theyre trying to push me into something, talking about get the A license and all that shit. Dont really know that I need one, Im not trying to be a skydiver, right? I keep wondering if theyre trying to get me to switch over or something, I dont know what it is, maybe just my imagination. I was really down and out when surf season ended last year and winter set in, that was devestating, I had a hard time getting over it. The reaction was I started wanting to go hang gliding, but that didnt work out, so started skydiving. Im going to go ahead and go on this tandem this weekend regardless, then surfing next weekend, then maybe I can get my prospectives straightened out and walk away from it. Im pretty confused right now, trying to work it ouit somehow. What do you think?
  11. Are you trying to make me puke? You must have seen that movie "Cutaway", which is the stupidest movie Ive ever seen in my life. They mad a real sad attempt to copy the movie "Point Break" with a little "Blue Crush" thrown in, totally made me sick to my stomach. So many colors in that movie it made me think I was on magic mushrooms. Who in the hell would want to live on a DZ, yeachh!!! Oh, gee, Im "cutting away". Why dont they just call the movie "Breakaway", makes more sense. Let me "cutaway" from my job, "cutaway" from society. If I dont like something, I think Ill "cutaway" from it. What dumbass makes up shit like that? I think Ill send the CD to my sister, knowing her shed probably like it.
  12. Well, they told me I had to be at the DZ at 8:00 for the next jump on a Saturday, and be 30 minutes early, over an hour away. No way Im getting up at 4:30 in the morning on a Saturday, so I have to sleep over thier in their bunkhouse Friday night, and I think that sucks. I swear thats going to be so boring, Im bringing my skateboard so Ill have something to do. They also have a swimming pool there so thats something. Anybody ever stay over at one of these places? Im at the Eloy DZ in Arizona. Apparently, the bunkhouse doesnt serperate guys and women, maybe its just my imagination but that seems kind of "wierd". Out in the middle of nowhere and sleeping with the coyotes, hope one doesnt end up pullling me out of my bunk. Any suggestions? Anyone? I dont know why Im doing that, really. Im not very serious about skydiving and this is a lot of trouble.
  13. Mine are little different. I always have this monster, vampire, witch, or whatever chasing me, then Id get cornered, and not knowing what else to do but die, I would just jump up and start flying. Remember that next time you have a dream like that, its pretty convenient. Gets you out of trouble too. If I could just figure out how to do that in real life...
  14. You know, fraternities and sororities are always having these fund raising events, I dont see why yall couldnt. I dont imagine they slash the football teams budget, they never do. Unfortunatly, skydiving is one of those things that isnt exactly popular, so you bear the cuts. This is a radical idea, but it sounds to me like you need a radical solution. Do something creative, like jump out on to the football field during a homecomming game or something like that that will get you noticed, then the school might be under a little pressure to help you out more. Ofcourse, you want to make proper arrangements before doing something like that, otherwise it may make you less popular. Get my drift?
  15. Theyre always getting mad, so what else is new? The last time they got mad at me was when I pulled off the harness and dropped it on the ground without picking it up right away. Before that, I put on the altimeter with a glove on each hand, didnt count at the top of my lungs on the way out the door (like it really matters), and I asked someone in the plane if he wasnt wearing goggles on the way down. Seems like Im always making them mad. Lets get to really, really mad. Try doing a hanging exit off a wing strut instead of a poised exit when they want you to do that, then right after that, flip a few times while youre still on a static line. Thats the difference between mad, and really really mad. Havent even gotten to really, really, really mad yet, but then again, Im just starting out. Ha ha. Im thinking, wear a wetsuit, and bring my 6'9 surfboard up with me next time so I can go skysurfing??? Naw, that would be really, really, really, really mad, Im still working on really, really, really.
  16. I went down this weekend with a pretty bad cold, hoping it was under control by the time I got to the DZ. Im familiar with what altitude can do if you have a cold, and was advised by the management and the guy I tandemed with last not to go up. They said it could blow out or rupture sinuses. Also had bronchitis, dont know what that would have done. I was feeling like crap that day (yesterday) and took their advice. Kind of a wasted trip out there, but didnt know what would happen, and decided not to try to find out. Then I started accusing myself of chickening out of the jump, but I didnt really know what to do.
  17. So they do have the same thing for skydiving....interesting. I took a look at that site and its pretty much like Billabong and Rip Curl is to surfing, selling pants, shorts, logo-Ts, ect. But for skydiving, that is interesting. And you say there is a lot of them? This is weird, I wonder if you can get sponsored? Oh yea, watch out for the posers!!!
  18. Try flipping forward while still on the static line, that freaked my S/L jumpmaster out, although I think it freaked me out a lot worse.
  19. He pulled at 4500, by the time it blew fully open we were at 3000, thats a lot of feet to open up. Also, that was a pretty sinister laugh, hahaha
  20. Thats the problem, surfing is my #1 and dont want skydiving taking the place of that. If I get good enough at surfing, and I will, I can get sponsored. Ill limit myself to just one jump per weekend to keep from getting too serious about it. Im not trying to be a skydiver, just want to go skydiving every once in a while. It helps build more guts when youre out catching waves.
  21. I know, I just got tired of it, I think it has something to do with maybe Im more of a surfer than a skydiver, or at least Im supposed to be. And besides, someone already has GroundRush so I had to use GroundRush1, I like being unique. Yep, after 31 posts and now get to start all over again, but I like the new nick, cause Im always stylin. Now that we're on the subject of stylin, does skydiving have its own logo wardrobe, like surfing does? ie: Rip Curl, Billabong, Vans, ect. Ive never seen any of this for skydiving, I think maybe because it isnt all that popular.
  22. Not to confuse anyone, but I got tired of my nick so decided to change it.
