Or an example you can relate with more - "Immigrants doing crimes are OK because they do important work anyway, otherwise, what would we do? Pick crops ourselves?".

    Putin was forced to promise that conscripts won't be sent to combat in Ukraine in 2022, otherwise he risked a societal backlash from the richer/more influential Moscow/St. Petersburg regions. Basically the unwritten contract is: as long as the war doesn't affect their lives too much, russian society will support Putin's war. Word is that most of those surrendering are conscripts, they have absolutely no motivation to fight or die for Putin's war. There are no "first line" troops any more. Almost all "elite" Russian units are heavily degraded according to analysts, in particular the ISW, because they were used for meatgrinder assaults in Ukraine.

    Kamala suddenly replacing Biden has re-energized the dem campaign, and the trumpists are freaking out (like Coreece in the other thread). They remember what trashing Roe vs. Wade did to the "red wave" in the midterms - how big is the GOP majority now? 1? That red wave was destroyed by mainly women turning out to vote. They might do the same again this November.

    For it to be hypocrisy, a person has to have words and actions in conflict with each other, so this has to be on the same topic. If a BLM supporter likes coke and I like pepsi, it doesn't mean that I'm now racist and don't support the movement. This is what Coreece is trying to insinuate, with his weird pretending to care about racism, when we all remember what he was saying in 2020. Now that's hypocrisy.

    Well, with Trump promising tariffs on everything the US imports, inflation in the US will probably jump 10%. And conservatives here (i.e. Brent) were complaining how inflation was all Biden's fault We had high inflation in the UK too the past few years (under a conservative government no less), but it's a silver lining that this time the inflation will be more isolated to just the US. COVID is far more contagious than stupid Trump tariffs

    Anyone who wants a coupe and still likes to row their gears will continue to enjoy their hobby, like how horse enthusiasts can still enjoy their hobby with various breeds of horses. But they won't be finding them in the local car dealership. In fact, hobbies like restoring vintage cars are having a bit of a renaissance due to the recent availability of 3D printing and lower-cost CNC machining.
