i only read about 10 words of the essay and could tell it was stupid shit. For some reason I thought of those spam emails you get that are like, "Please submit to us your credit card numbers so we can tranfer an account balance in Zaire to your account! The account is estimated at 1.2 billion dollars!" --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

Depends on which one I go to. Only been to a different DZ once but the option is there. My home DZ is about 1.5 hours away. There's one closer but I'd rather fly with my homies. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

ive been in school for the past 2.5 years. Been skydiving since last march, done 90 jumps this year. You CAN skydive and go to college at the same time. It's hard, you have to be creative --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

How oftern do you practice your Reserve drills?
andy2 replied to bluegremlin's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
before every jump I physically emulate pulling the handles, always. Plus, I think about it mentally a few times on the ride up. Why wouldnt you? It's easy and it keeps you focused on whats important, safety. You should have conversations about the dive flow, etc pretty much finished by the time youre in the plane, so that shouldnt affect your emergency procedure practice. Or if youre a student, listen to your instructor. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... -
articulation effecting carving/harness turning
andy2 replied to andy2's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I recently went up to the busiest loft in northern california and the kind folks allowed me to lengthen my chest strap.... Thanks . Once I was under canopy I could open the chest strap farther and it would allow the main lift web to straighten out completely.
Would that be something like the... "usable true main lift web", as the amount your chest strap can spread open is dictated by both your parachute and your MLW. So tim, you think hip rings help allow the main lift web to spread to its potential true length? Or is it that the rigidity that you lose with hip rings effects harness input in a negative way? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... -
articulation effecting carving/harness turning
andy2 replied to andy2's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
lol we all know its not how good you fly but how cool you look flying. Are you talking about the bungee that freefliers get on their leg straps to keep the straps from slipping in freefall? Or are you talking about something else? Thanks for the input. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... -
ok now Im confused, tom. Who is going stowed on a jump that requires a 52" PC!?!? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
Did you pull your rear risers in attempt to help speed inflation?
Anyone care to comment on that statement? I've heard contradicting remarks about that same thing. Some people say pulling on rears will majorly slow down openings, some say it makes it snap open. Personally sounds like an easy way to stall/wrap your canopy around itself. You're working with a lot of kinetic/potential energy with a sniveling canopy. What do you think? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

whats the function of the cap then? What was their reasoning for having one? What's your reasoning for not wanting to jump a PC that big with a cap on the end? Adds unnessecary weight to the PC - slows down inflation? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

if you wear it while skydiving make sure it will break without breaking your neck if it gets snagged in your three ring and you have to cutaway. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

articulation effecting carving/harness turning
andy2 replied to andy2's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
It was mentioned to me by another jumper that articulated hip rings effect the force that a swooper can harness turn. I was wondering what you guys think about that, it sounds true but I was wondering if the differences would be negligible for the comfort factor hip rings give you. What is your experience with it? Can you do harder/steeper harness turns without hip rings? Thanks --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... -
you prefer no vents tom for really low stuff and for everything else vents? I thought vents sacrificed a little speed in the deployment but much less oscilliation? I remember reading on here something about a vented PC will have a smaller margin of error than a nonvented PC. Such as a nonvented PC might deploy much faster one time but much slower the next whereas a vented PC is much more stabile. Isn't this stability would be what you are shooting for doing low low stuff? What do you think about that? Thanks (sorry if I asked you a million questions at once ). --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

how does counting sections work? Is it standardized in holland? BC I know around my house say theres one A that can't be over 150 feet with a bunch of red/white sections, then theres this monster about 1,000 feet that has one maybe every 300 feet! Is it different in europe? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
