Well, I don't know the person selling and have no reason to call them names, assuming the items were acquired at an estate sale and all this is above board. I have no reason to think otherwise. My comment was more of a personal nature regarding a close friend and important symbols of his life accomplishments. I will try to contact the seller and see if he's interested in donating to the museum...maybe for a reduced price. Either way, not worth losing sleep over...

WHO was a good friend and, from a personal perspective, it's sad to see his skydiving memorabilia being sold on ebay.

A little difficult to tell from the pic but yes, looks more like a Raptor than a Mach because of the tailwing length and short grippers. I still have two Raptors...older design but still a great wingsuit!

Jim Marshall (Vikings) skydiving info

Never met him but I remember stories from the early '70s of him jumping at Osceola. -
You will not be disappointed if you get a Curv. I've been jumping one for about 10 months and it is by far the most innovative and comfortable rig on the market. Make sure you visit RI while at Eloy. They can answer any questions, measure you and take an order, or keep the measurements if you feel a need to consider it for a while. Also, reserve flap security is not an issue on the Curv. pms Disclaimer: I don't sell gear, I don't work for any manufacturer and am not sponsored.

Bill Wenger IS retired.

It only has to happen to you once and you start to wish there was good and affordable technology available to track your gear. I lost a main, plus freebag and pc at a well known midwest dz (surrounded by lots of woods and corn fields) last summer on a sunset load. Another jumper on the same load lost a main as well. New main, risers, bag and pc, reserve freebag and pc, plus the 182 I rented to search, added up to maybe $2700.

I've never jumped a CF version so can't address that...but the standard Storm is in no way a difficult canopy to land. I would describe both the Spectre and Storm as fairly easy canopies to land. Both open well (Spectre with more "snivel") and are great overall canopies. The Storm would be a great choice for a first canopy or anyone interested in low drama openings and landings. Of course the Pilot seems like a great choice as well...

I jumped with John in the mid 1970s and would like to know where he's at and what he's doing now days. I jumped his Paradactyl at least once or twice... -
MC-12 is a King Air 350, designed for ISR missions in OIF and OEF under Project Liberty. You will find lots of King Airs flying skydivers but not many 350s.

Wait, what are you saying? Succeeding in sabotaging a jump and potentially endangering people would be cheered? By who? And why? Records are made to be broken and being ass hurt because "your" state record might be broken is infantile. The rules are what they are. If you find them unsatisfactory, feel free to lobby the USPA and or IPC. That's how you make a positive change. I also find your use of the word "steal" fascinating. If people follow the rules and set a record, how is that "stealing"? Your idea of how records works doesn't seem to intersect with reality...

That was very well said Chuck and I appreciate your expressing it. I've been on an actual FAI world record that stood for about a month and thought the best way to respond was to buy the organizer of the new record a beer. Roger N. gladly accepted... Anyway, this guy probably needs to think about moving on to other less stressful activities. That type of decision-making is scary...

I should be there on the 26th early enough to make a few jumps...and plan to stay for most of the following week.

Where to jump near St Louis with plane bigger than a Cessna
pms07 replied to Lujako's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Skydive Chicago or Chicagoland Skydiving Center are the nearest full time turbine operators...about a 4 hour drive from the STL metro area. -
So I guess it is better to be "cool" and dead - than uncool with B-12's and alive? Ahh, all the designer skydivers must shudder at the thought of something "old school". Let's compare how many jumpers have died from mis-routed or not routed at all chest straps to failed B-12's. Anyone? Nothing wrong with B-12s and if that's what you prefer, go for it. At the same time, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the hardware in use on most rigs today and it is enormously simple to operate. The flaw is in the training of the individual or their approach to donning and inspecting their own gear. Regardless of the hardware you choose, develop a system to preflight your gear. Do it the same way every time. Have someone else give you a gear check also if that is part of your process. All that has nothing to do with whether your hardware is "cool" or "lame"...

Listen to what DSE said. A Sabre2 with fairly low wing loading is a fine wingsuit canopy and you will see many used for just that.

Rich, I think USPA will find widespread support for that proposed BSR. I hope the S&T committee will stay engaged and look to build consensus in the community on a way ahead. Thanks again for your efforts! Pat

In spite of having 5 or 6 other video editing software programs, I bought Sony Vegas Movie Studio as DSE recommended and that is all I use now. It's inexpensive with lots of capability, yet easy to use.

The left arm wing zipper of my old Raptor routinely comes open while back flying. Not sure why, I don't see any unusual wear or damage to the zipper. Regardless, its pretty easy to manage. If I had an arm wing cutaway system on any of my wing suits I would leave it there in case I need it someday...

Sandy/RI has long made a student rig called the Telesis. I don't recall him ever involved in the manufacture of a round reserve or any other canopy. I've known Sandy a long time and spent some time with him last week. We talked a lot about his history in the gear business but I'll ask him more specifically about this.
