I cannot believe that big cave you hiked through! Defintely not for me- I would have been scared to death not being able to see whats on the other side (for a mile) and having water up to my waist for most of the caving experience!! I want to do just everything- we are going to be lucky because we will have bdays and graduation and everything right before to warrant a gift. Mike and I are both asking for reservations to the following as our gifts: (we just ordered Kauai revealed, so hopefully that will tell us the good companies to use, but please throw out recommendations or things to add to the list!) - Rent a kayak at Fern Grotto - Helicopter tour - Tour of Kauai coffee (I am such a coffee fanatic) - Waimea Canyon - Whale watching and snorkeling trips - Sunset cruise/dinner on the Napali Coast - Hiking the Kalalua Trail (I hear it is really wet and rough, so I just got new Keens- wanted them for jumping anyhow) - Trips to hidden waterfalls and good sushi! I am so stoked and still have 2 months!! (to get in shape at least!) Anymore suggestions are more than welcome! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

I already figured that the luau in Kauai would not be that cool, based upon websites for a couple different places. I am staying at the Outrigger Lae Nani, which is at the Southeast corner or the island. Hopefully it doesnt rain too much! So you do recommend the helicopter tour?? For the amount of $$, I was not sure if it it would be worth it or not. I am so excited! We both graduate about a week before the trip, so it is a timely celebration! I now figured out my vacation- I am going to Kauai in April!! This thread has some great ideas, but if anyone has some additional suggestions of things to do and people to see: add them here!! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

party meatballs:(seriously, just try it!! I know that everyone is talking funny about it- this is good and EASY!!) put equal parts of chili sauce and grape jelly into a crockpot & leave on for a few minutes so it gets mixed together by heat. Throw in a bag of meatballs and stir. Cook for a few hours until thawed. I am a vegetarian, but everybody seems to LOVE these! Shrimp Cocktail Go to Sam's Club (if you have one) they have so many appetizer like foods to choose from. (Like cheese sticks, sub and veggie platters, roll ups, etc.) THere are two good kinds of dip: 1.) Mix Routelle (this is some kind of seasoning you can prob find in the same aisle as chili sauce), velveeta and diced tomatoes together and heat in a bowl 2) Cut up velveeta cheese into cubes with salsa and beef or sausage. Heat in a crock pot and leave on. Serve with tortilla chips. Good luck! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

Liz, looking at the obituary of your father, it is obvious that he has lived a wonderful life. With all of the children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews- I am sure that he had so much joy and happiness and felt so fullfilled taking his last breath. It is going to be hard, but focus on the wonderful memories that you had together and continue to remember him through your family and the things that you liked doing together. I know you had asked about hospices earlier: do not be afraid to take advantage of the benefits if he was enrolled. Your entire family is entitled to grief and bereavement counseling (if needed) for 13 months. I am sure he is up above, gleaming down at you and your family. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Big hug, Amanda Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

I cannot open that link right now, but I have seen funny phone booth before on Leno. I think it was one of the funniest segments I have ever seen on his show! It was a phone booth that talked and it would tell me to "take off your shirt" or "bring in the entire family" when there was a group of like 20 people. It was just funny to see how people were reacting. Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

I was a big sister. It's ok- really, it just depends on who your match is and what you make of the situation. I am 23 and got a match who is 16. I was expecting a younger child and also someone that lived a little closer than 15 miles away. This match and her mom both got upset that I did not spend enough time with my little. (Did things about once a month or so) but this match called me "her only friend" and things, so they obviously wanted me around more. Because I could not "meet their expectations" we ended the match after one year. I still hang out with her, but I no longer have to meet the BBBS requirements. It is a good program, but do not say yes to just anything... If you are looking for a specific kind of match or relationship, tell your social worker. It is all about communication. They have a lot of nice events and resources available here in the area to do with your little. That was nice. Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

Although these are sometimes cheesy, I love em! It is a great way to get to know different things about one another! What is your name and your nickname? Amanda nickname at work is Adminski (combo of my job title and last name) and some that skydive with me call me Olive Oyl When is your birthday? April 16th What is your eye color and hair color? Blue eyes and brown hair Do you drink? Smoke? Drink on the weekends and never smoke What city do you live in? Columbus, Ohio for now What is your occupation, and do you enjoy your job? I am the administrator at a retirement community. I oversee 2:3 sections- the Health Care Center and Assisted Living. My job is very complex and I love it most of the time. How often do you travel? Once per month or so. Haven't gotten to do as much lately since I am finishing my last few months of school. How many languages do you speak? one. very little spanish. Would definitely like to learn another. What kind of music do you enjoy? Anything but country and rap. I love both hard and soft rock, depending on my mood. Techno for working out, etc. What is your favorite food? Salad, sushi and sweet things- which I try to avoid! Do you have a favorite color? Orange and Blue! To wear- I like any bright colors. Do you have any unusual habits or quirks? Finally breaking my nail biting habit after 23 years! I hate it when people scuff their feet while they walk and I can't stand it when people are overly lazy and inmotivated. What is a talent that you have that most people don't expect from you? Hmmm, I cannot think of any physical talents, but otherwise, most people are surpirsed at what a good listener and advice giver I am! Name something that you are proud of in your life. My success. What's your daily/weekly workout routine (non gym)
Amanda965 replied to Newbie's topic in The Bonfire
The gym I go to has a relly great schedule of classes that are super challenging and they have a great mix of guys and girls. I went to a boxing class today. Had to bring our own gloves, paired off with a different person for each set, really hit and wore myself the f out! Look into some things like that. Other than that, weights are what will get your metabolism in gear and get you toned. I saw a trainer for 3 sessions and he STRESSED weights big time- working your whole body. Then do some cardio to burn off calories and fat- that is where the classes and ANYTHING BUT RUNNING ON A TREADMILL come into play Good luck- I just started up hardcore, changed my diet too, and I am feeling so much better!! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~ -
It sounds so freakin beautiful and amazing!! I cannot wait! I am going to take $$ out as a factor, since this is something we definitely do not get to do everyday! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

There is no veggie that I dislike except for PICKLES!! Ewww! Brussel sprouts are my favorite with a big glass of milk for some reason... Sometimes I eat just a big bowl of brussel sprouts with the milk as my dinner. Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

Um, does it make your pee smell funny, like it does to me? - That is funny. My boyfriend and I had asaragus for dinner last night and we were just talking about that occurence... I never correlated the funny smell with eating asaragus until Alanab pointed it out to me one day! It is weird how that happens though! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

My bf and I both graduate college in March- yea! We are planning a trip right at the beginning of April to Hawaii. Most likely, I will not be doing skydiving there, so leave the factor of a dz out of the picture. I would like to know 1.) What island is best to go to and why 2.) Recommendations of a good place to stay 3.) Any other tips or suggestions Thanks! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

Do you tell your employer that you do skydiving?
Amanda965 replied to bastichu's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I guess it depends on the type of person and the field of work you are in. I am very personable and I do not mind telling people bits and pieces of me. Skydiving is something that I would share over many other things... I am the boss at my work. My employees know that my job is super stressful and I am a workaholic, so they are actually happy to know that I have a release and something to get me out of town- thus away from the workplace! Have they lived in Russia at all within the past ten years at all? (Since the Communist govt fell and Russia started trying to re establish themselves...) Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

I rode it this past summer. Fun, but skydiving is better! The part that I liked is how quickly it accelerates. This is not a feeling you get skydiving. It kind of scary to watch, sometimes the coaster does not make it all the way to the top of the hill and it rolls backwards back to the bottom. I am a Big Brother Bis Sister. This is the 1st coaster that I took my little on and the first coaster she had ever been on! She SAID she loved it, but would not go on any other coasters the rest of the day Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~
