  1. They do it all the time at my dz off of the 4-wheeler and other various objects. Not the smartest thing to do, but most certainly good for a laugh! The look on the guys face as they are anticipating the throw-off is priceless! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

My prayers are with everyone in the vicinity of this storm, You all are right, it does not look pretty, especially for New Orleans. Lets hope for the best... Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~
  6. I had a similar situation /thought occur this week. I am the administrator at a retirement community. I feel weird telling all of my staff and the residents what I do sometimes too, but last week they actually asked me to make a Friendship Village advertisement with me skydiving. I am thinking of something to do tomorrow. If I do a banner or something, I think it will get all bent up and unreadable... Good luck to you, I have some thinking to do too : ) Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

I dont even have close to the number of jumps that you do and I have toyed with this thought before... THe advice that has been given to me and I totally agree- if you do not have that passion and drive for the sport, take some time to eval, but if you continue to have that feeling, give it up. It is too dangerous a sport to continue if you don't love it and jumping occasionally is defnitely not very safe since you go uncurrent. Your reasons sound very legit... I stepped back becasue I had to for a little while. When I picked back up, it was a fun boogie weekend and I realized it is not yet my time to give it up, but it is most certainly a very personal decision for everyone. And also a decision that everyone needs to respect. Good luck!! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

  11. Yikes, that means I am still possibly in the danger zone I have never had one either. You'll have to let me know how it goes!! Good luck! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~
  12. Ah! The life of a single, american skydiver! I think many of us that live alone eat about the same way. We try to save our $$ for better things and then get to talk about the crap we eat! I got lucky today I guess- leftovers from cooking over the weekend. Seafood alfredo and steamed broccoli. That's a rarity- it's normally Subway or cereal! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~
  13. With this being my first convention, I have a few random things that other did not mention. 1.) I guess I come from a super safe dropzone, but I definitely do not feel there was enough attention paid to safety. Walking in from the landing area one afternoon, it seriously looked as if jumpers were playing chicken with one another coming in for landing. Have a board of the designated pull altitudes, exit order, landing direction, etc. where everyone can see it. Some of that may be common sense to jumpers "raised" at a safe dropzone, but not everyone is and with that many jumpers coming in at once, why risk it when we can do more about it? 2.) Freefly organizers. I did not see any. 3.) Put some of those portable sinks around so that everyone isn't walking around with dirty hands all day. 4.) Do something about the party. I can't hit the nail on the head, but it just wasn't a normal boogie party. No big fire going on for hours maybe, I dunno. I guess maybe the parties got better later into the week, but I missed those. All in all, it was a fun event. Would have came back the next weekend to get my $70 worth if it wasn't for the horrible weather forecast and the horrible drive Alana and I encountered on the way back to Columbus last Sunday!! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

  18. I would say go for the Easton or Polaris area. There are fun things there and most likely you will pay a little less than you would pay for downtown if that is what you are thinking of. You two better call me to hangout for at least a little bit ** There are alot of hotels (nicer ones) at CrossWoods too on route 23 that would be relatively close to stuff. Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

  23. That cracks me up so much, when people who've never flown before, jump out of the first plane they fly on So they can say, "I have flown in a plane, but I have never landed in one." How cool is that! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~
  24. I am a nursing home/assisted living administrator. Know this if something happens, you can come to my place and rest assured, I will see to it that you are well taken care of. But seriously, by working in this industry, I have learned how I WONT die and living a life in which I lose my physical and mental functioning in a NH is just that. That is why I will skydive until I die... OR Jack Kevorkian better become legal- assisted suicide is becoming legal in some states- Oregon I believe thus far. I have had a few residents that have killed themselves. Of course it is sad, but I toally respect the fact that they have done this. Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~
