Saxboy- you may not know a lot of jumpers in your country, but you can also sell gear here on dz.com, ebay and a few other skydiving websites. Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

You say that you dont have the money, however, if you purchase a larger more conservative canopy to jump for a couple hundred jumps, you can most likely break even or lose very little money if you sell it to someone else, then purchase a "newer" used canopy of your choice later. Are you so worried about the money that you are going to risk your life? I cannot believe your DZO or S&TA would even let you jump a canopy that small at their dropzone! Like some of the others have said, think hard about this one or you may not have to do much thinking in the future after that choice.... Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

Skydiving as a demonstration sport in the London 2012 Olympics?!
Amanda965 replied to nigelh's topic in The Bonfire
But aren't most sports this way?? Unless you have attempted crew, gymnastics, 400m relays, or speedskating you will never truly understand the amount of time, skill and dedication that the particular sport takes, but as a spectator, you will still most likely have admiration for those who do it! I think it would bring a "dangerous sport" into positive light. One thing that was mentioned is that it has to be brought forward for approval 6 years before the olympics & that would mean they need to get it started now. Is anyone truly working on this? It would be interesting to see how tryouts are held, what discipline(s) of skydiving are held, etc. Does skydiving hold intl. meets? I am not aware of them? Are there enough countries that would be represented through skydiving to make it a legitimate olympic sport? Someone told me that baseball and softball are being d/c at the London olympic games, is this true? Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~ -

And Deland Zhills is quite a distance from all the rest, but probably still worth the drive. Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~ -
Thank you!! Us maggots actually get a treat, which I think is fair since everyone gets to pour beer all over us anyhow! Plug this like crazy to make sure all the SCR recipients actually donate on the SCR site. Maybe you can make a little flier with the website on it to handout to all the recipients to put in our logbooks, so those that do not frequent dz.com will still remember to do it! Looking forward to it!! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

Like RkyMtn, I also empathize with ya. I know how to flare and land and often times have perfect days with all tip-toed landings with my Spectre. On the other hand, some days I continuously mess up the landings and attribute it to a few different things that I will pose as questions to you: - Have you had anyone check out your canopy to make sure the brakelines are the correct/same length? - If you are telling yourself that you have landing problems, do you think perhaps it is having an unconscious impact on your landings (making you apprehensive or nervous?) - When you get to the ground, are you preparing to move (run/walk) if nessary or are your feet stationary? (I guess this is dumb, but sometimes I do not stand up my landings just because I failed to "hit the ground running." Good luck!! I have heard lots of times before that landings are something that females often times have problems with (a little more than males) for some reason or another, but I'm not sure why. I would defnitely say Titusville! Lisa is right- the people there are awesome and there are 3 other dz's in the Orlando vicinity that you can hop around and visit. Split your time between Titusville and Sebastian- have fun lucky! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~ -
I have had to it happen twice- once during my AFF- where the wrist part of my alti came unstrapped during freefall and I had to hold onto it with my fingers. Depsite this, I continue to strap it on outside my suit- it only feels right. I have always found the chest mount to be quite interesting. I guess if you ar eused to it, that would work, but it seems as if it'd be such a pain to see in certain instances. Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

I may be weird, but I love this thread! I am one of those people that likes to laugh at the expense of others, including myself lots of the time! On a Friday morning after a night of drinking in college, the phone rings. It is none other than Alanab waking me up to go to out to breakfast. I look around very confused and try to sort things out as I mumble to her on the phone... Looking down in my bed, I see that I have puked in my sleep. I tell her this, we have a laugh and she tells me to come out to breakfast anyhow-- she'll be there to pick me up in a few minutes... I try to clean up and meet her outside. As we sit down at the restaraunt, she proceeds to tell me that I have barf stuck in my ear. The breakfast outing was filled with multiple trips to the BR and a not so fun room cleaning when I got back! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~ -

An elementary school story comes to mind as well... In thr 4th grade, our teacher would read aloud right before lunch each day. Right before read aloud, Chad, who sat right in front of me, asked to go to the bathroom. He was gone for awhile and our teacher had started reading right as he came back. As he sat down, not only did I notice one of the most awful smells, but I saw brown smeared all over the butt of his black jeans. No one else in the class seemed to notice it and I was too shy to say anything, so I miserably waited until our teacher excused the class to get ready for lunch. I told the class loud mouth on the way to the restroom and he blurted out to the teacher when we all returned, "Mrs. Jantz, Chad has dookie all over his seat." Poor boy had to sit in the nurses office all day because his mom couldn't bring him a change of clothes. I still feel bad for him! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~ -

A pantry one came to mind for me as well- growing up, my sis and I would always eat one poptart, then put the other one back in the box in the wrapper to eat later. In the middle of summer, I opened up the box and got a leftover poptart out. Halfway through the poptart, I looked down to see hundreds of ants crawling all over it! I had eaten half the poptart without noticing it was overtaken by ants! Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~ -

Jason (especially) Maggie, Jaime, the family of Geoff-- I am saying a prayer right now. I do not know the extent of Jason's injuries, but optimistically I am going to say, "heal fast." Damn Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~

Well hopefully the viewer would realize that he is a passenger and that would not necessarily affect him. Kind of like one of us having a friend drive us because we are drunk! (that is just how I hope people think!) Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~
