  1. Gotta go with Chuck here, most of us get discounted rates on tickets, but we're still paying for fun jumps. As for the boring part, when you've just finished wrestling some hungover 200 lb frat boy out the door, managed to correct his lousy body position in freefall so you're not spinning, managed to point out the video flyer to him so he at least shows his face in his video, shifted him around in the harness after opening to keep him from passing out or puking on you, executed the perfect flare to stand him up in no wind only to have him fall on you anyway and almost break your leg...does that sound boring to you? 2. I've noticed that when I'm trying to get my tandem students to keep their head back on exit, that I put my right hand on their forehead with the pinkie extended...very proper for tea time, not sure how well it works on the students, though Iceman Doctor I ain't gonna die, Just write me an alibi! ---- Lemmy/Slash
  3. Sorry, but "exciting" and "fun" are completely different things. I have a coach and 2 tandem ratings, plan to get my AFF later in the year, and my skydiving life has never been more exciting. Not quite sure if it still counts as fun, though... All in all, I think it's worth it, but then I've never been puked or peed on by a first-time tandem student, so I may reserve my vote for THAT day. 7. Renaud, you definitely hardly ever suck...except when I trap your foot on the step. I, however, suck enormously, and I don't give a shit who knows it, either. Iceman Doctor I ain't gonna die, Just write me an alibi! ---- Lemmy/Slash
  8. Haven't seen the full list, but you know these things are just designed to create new, REALLY LONG threads on DZ.com... I personally love everyone mentioned so far, as well as guys like Cropper, George Benson, Van Halen, and a million others. I've been playing for over 35 years, I still ain't ever going to be as good as most of them...but if they sound good and inspire me, cool. Should be interesting to see the whole list, though.. Q: How many guitarists does it take to change a light bulb? A; At least 15...1 to change the bulb, and 14 to stand around and say "I could've done that better"! 9. Okay, put me on, and confirm me...before ChopChop brings his parasites, er, perrisites on board...(I'll call Zac and confirm ASAP). Iceman Doctor I ain't gonna die, Just write me an alibi! ---- Lemmy/Slash
  10. Thanks for keepin' an eye on her mouth, she really is a special chicky. And my belated congrats on your return to the air, sounds like a great one! Post some stills when you get a chance! Iceman Doctor I ain't gonna die, Just write me an alibi! ---- Lemmy/Slash
  11. If they wore jump suits and gloves, what were YOU wearing, Tom? Jeez, breaks my heart that I missed that Saturday...maybe you can talk Beth into doing tandems again, seeing as you have all these naked guys standing in line now.. 12. The other factor that people tend to look at is currency, and it may be a bigger factor than jump numbers OR total time. I just spent the past weekend fucking up a couple 6-9 way RW jumps due to the fact that I spent the last 6 weeks either freeflying or being ballasted by tandem passengers. Took me about three jumps to get back in the groove. If you tend to frequent the same DZ (or DZs), and make it clear that you want to be part of the regular RW crew there, you should be able to get in on the dives you want if people know you and know your skill level, jumps numbers be damned. If you're at a new DZ, sorry, you're probably going to be judged unfairly based on jump numbers until you get to be a part of the regular crowd. It sucks, but unless you've got the rep of a Roger Ponce or Dan BC, it's the price you have to pay. We've all been there, we'll probably all be there again... 13. WAAAHHHHH! I can't even talk about jump numbers, we're bummed about missing Meggie! You guys are lucky to have her, take care of her for us, 'K? Iceman Doctor I ain't gonna die, Just write me an alibi! ---- Lemmy/Slash
  14. As I get older, I've found one thing to be absolutely true, no matter how you want to interpret it: The less hair I have, the more head I get.
  15. Got about 300 on Vector II, 150+ on Eclipse. I'd like to get my Sigma rating, but likely wouldn't use it in my area. Since these are essentially the same rigs (with the exception of the tertiary drogue release on the cutaway and the three ring pouch), must say I favor the Vector II...with an Icarus canopy. The Icarus 330 is actually easier to fly than the 365 IMHO, and I can comfortably land 200+ pound people on it in a little wind. The openings are a little strange, but I also own a Vengeance main on my own rig, so I'm used to LOOOOONG snivels , which seems to be the hairiest thing about the openings. As for the Eclipse, I'm generally not impressed with the construction, and since I seldom wear a helmet or frap hat, I really hate the damn flapping riser covers. So, I'd definitely favor the Vector II, would love to get Sigma rated, jump the Eclipse when I need to make some money... Iceman Doctor I ain't gonna die, Just write me an alibi! ---- Lemmy/Slash

  17. Sorry to hear it, brother... our thoughts and prayers for his family and friends. On the karmic flip side, the guy who did this is the guy who was holed up in the hotel in South SF, and apparently committed suicide after a long police stand-off. 25. Bumpin' this thread...if I'm counting right, here's the potential lineup for the old man's tandem on Saturday: Phlip celljumper LizzieB Skypup SFC The Anvil People whom I've driven from the sport by not SPECIFICALLY inviting them: crapflinger2000 TitaniumLegs I'll be there in the morning, maybe we can talk Peter and Gork into coming back and we'll get something organized early. I scheduled him for 3:00, it's an 18K, and I'll pick up the extra altitude charge for the load...and of course, we'll be landing in the lovely, verdant, evergreen fields of Tres Pinos as always. How can you NOT be there?! (Better, Seb? ) Iceman Doctor I ain't gonna die, Just write me an alibi! ---- Lemmy/Slash
