Pictures! Pics of my new RW suit and more.
VanillaSkyGirl replied to AggieDave's topic in The Bonfire
I love the green and black combo. It looks great on you, David. -
This is probably a lame question, but I was wondering at what altitude can you exit from a helicopter? I would love to jump from as many different air crafts/places, as possible. Also, please follow up to let us know how much fun the jump was and at what exit you end up going with.

On top of that, she is Uncle Leo's daughter! How cool is that? I know, I just found out...I loooove Uncle Leo! -

I bet if I had a puppy that needed vibes, she'd be all over it with vibes, hugs and ciels. LOL!!! Well... -
I seem to have a permanent smile on my face which my co-workers have been assuming is due to retardation. What do you mean assuming ? Anyway, I understand about the permanent smile. I often have it due to my time in the sky. Good luck with all on your AFF levels, Muenkel. I'm adding a shimmy to the weather gods for you to give you nothing but blue skies!

Question about Bridge the Gap accomodations...
VanillaSkyGirl replied to VanillaSkyGirl's topic in The Bonfire
"Bridge the Gap" June 7-8, 2003 - Skydive Elsinore (with seminar on June 6th at 8pm by John LeBlanc) Are most people staying in that bunkhouse at Elsinore, or does anyone know of any hotels (Casino is booked) that are nearby? Are there any women that would want to get a hotel room with a more comfy bed, so I could share/split costs? I have chronic health conditions, so I have learned the hard way to try to be more careful with my body. Any other suggestions? Please help...I need to plan ahead. Michele pm me back please, sweetie. (It's OK if you can't.) -
Anyone getting married? GREAT deal on ring(s)...
VanillaSkyGirl replied to sunnydee123's topic in The Bonfire
No one wanted my ring,no one wanted my dress...no one wanted me either Moody, please don't be so down over someone that was probably not meant to be for you. If someone is not interested in you, there are plenty of others that are. Someone like Sunnydee attracts many others with her confidence and positivity. Attraction is not always about looks or other superficial things (even though you are gorgeous, Moody), so just be a little more positive. The men will come flying. -
"Bridge the Gap" June 7-8, 2003 - Skydive Elsinore
VanillaSkyGirl replied to Gawain's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I was told that PD WILL have demo canopies, again. Hopper, I'm still waiting for Wyat to write back to me about my canopy control course date. I will hopefully know by tomorrow morning. (Friday seems like the most logical date.) Are most people staying in that bunkhouse, or does anyone know of any hotels (Casino is booked) that are nearby. Are there any women that are thinking of getting a room with a more comfy bed, so I could share/split costs? Michele pm me back, sweetie. Please let me know. I like to plan. I am very excited about this. I will see you guys/girls there! -
I really think that Skydive Elsinore is an amazingly friendly, warm dropzone. Not only are Karl and John (& family) amazing, personable DZO's (I love them!), but their whole staff is equally wonderful. MJ (awesome 2-way instructor), Betsy, Yoyo and all the other instructors/workers there are incredible in every way. Their support and encouragement truly have kept me coming back every weekend. After my old DZ closed, Elsinore has now become my new home DZ.

Dixieskydiver, I think that your tip certainly helped new jumpers. I currently have much less jumps than all the others that posted here, so your post helped to reinforce what I had been taught.

Right on, girl! Congrats on your 100th, Sunnydee! Good luck with all.

Have you worried about your lover skydiving?
VanillaSkyGirl replied to Vallerina's topic in The Bonfire
Taft crew, who might that be ? The last time that we got together was at Elsinore for Cinco de Mayo. I was new to Taft this year, but the old crew that showed up was the following: Jim, George, Brett (packer), Doug & Laura, Suzanne (Princess), Kim, Nate, Pete, Phillipa, Prom Queen (?), Tad, me, Kelley, Ronnie, Haley, etc. I don't know everyone's names, so if anyone sees this...I'm sorry if I left you out. Anyway, we will be at Monterey on June 14th! -
I think I will just continue to let the guys' imagination fill in where my bravery will not. Good idea! Please post pictures of your 100th. I can't wait to do mine (except the pieing part), and I need some ideas, too!
-
Hi Denise! The 100th jump is traditionally a naked jump and then a pieing. BOTH men and women get asked to jump naked all the time, trust me. If you want to jump naked or do a lingerie jump (also not uncommon), then go for it, girl!

Have you worried about your lover skydiving?
VanillaSkyGirl replied to Vallerina's topic in The Bonfire
I am not nervous when Tad jumps, unless it's something new. I was needlessly nervous when he was going to balloon jump; although, he would have been fine. If he were to base jump, I'd be nervous. I also didn't see him land once, and I had my stomach turn a little wondering where he was as he's always easy to locate. I can tell that my guy worries about me and watches all my landings like a hawk. If I have had a cutaway (of course) or "out landing" or anything that he wasn't expecting, he is crazy worried. He always walks back with me or comes to get me if I'm far. -

Fate decided different and her health has deteriorated to the point where jumping is not an option This is just awful. I'm so sorry, Ed. I myself have 2 chronic health illnesses that I've had for about 13 years, but I have also decided to "taste life" to the fullest. Anyway, your wife can e-mail or pm me if she wants to talk. Also, if I'm not mistaken, you are from AAW. If you two can make it, the whole Taft crew is getting together to jump at Monterey on June 14th. (Different DZ every month.) You are both invited! -
I think most common way to cause it is to have poor line stows, messy and disorganized. Yes, what Casch wrote is very true. At the time, my old DZ was training new packers. I figured that this happened because of that.

I had one on my 11th jump. It looked like closed end cells at first, but then I peeked around the slider (I'm small), and I was startled at what I saw. I didn't know what it was at the time as it had never been in any of our class malfunction pictures. The whole front right side of the lines were all stuck together as one and slightly twisted from the slider to where they met with the parachute ends. The parachute front end was not and would not open completely on that (front right) side. I knew that this definitely wasn't normal, and that I couldn't fix it. Therefore, I calmly cutaway and pulled my reserve. It was when I got home and reviewed a "Breakaway" malfunction video that I had bought that I knew what it was exactly. It looked almost identical to the video, except it was a little worse (more heavily closed front end). The video claimed that it was a packing error. I was jumping rented, DZ-packed gear (huge 280 main) at the time. The packers there were awesome, but I guess that this stuff happens sometimes. I hope that this helps.

One day soon, I will definitely go to Eloy, and I will take you up on that, Betsy! I can't wait to try it someday. When I have my plans set to travel there (probably in a few months), I will PM you. Thank you for the offer.

Ok, at this point, this thread is hysterical… Last night, my boyfriend and I were talking about what it would be like on the ride to altitude if the plane was filled with girlie whuffo women (sort of, but not quite) like me. This is how I would envision this situation... If one of these girls had gas, she would try to be polite and not manifest until she was done in the ladies room…even if it meant noooo jumps ever! If she still had gas on the way to altitude, she would hold it indefinitely, even if it meant passing out in the plane. If she couldn’t hold it on the plane, it would certainly be understood that she was “sick” (no questions asked) and needed to get to the door NOW! At this point, the other ladies would create a little path, like the parting of the Red Sea, for her to get to the door, which they all would help to open together. The ladies would then look the other way and “be there” for her after she was done getting the demons out of her system. They would then help to comfort the offender by braiding her hair or complimenting her new shoes/boobs/whatever. (They may even share their “I once had gas, too.” stories.) If the gas was still haunting the unlucky lady, she would open the door and silently fling her wretched body from the plane in hopes of having sacrificed herself for the good of the load. The remaining ladies would quietly discuss amongst themselves ways that she could improve her diet as to be better prepared for next time.

How incredibly beautiful!!!

As an added bonus, feel free to come spend Friday night in our spare room! Do we have to share a bathroom? I may have to stay in Tad's van or get a room of my own.

If you know me, you know what you are in for! Jesus Christ, not you too, Ronnie! Heaven help me..
