Geez dude, I remember when we both had like 6 jumps back in Hazel Green while training together with Harold. Now you have +1000 and I got shy of 400. Oh well thats life in skydiving with x-wives and kids. Hope all is well with ya, dont get to see ya much since the demise of Marvin Boogies. Take care brother...................................Terry

My op only but cutting an actually good main for no reason with a two chute system is an incredibly dumbA__ thing to consider much less do. Cudos to idiots. -

Doug... this is your bro Terry...I hate to differ w/ ya bro, but a main attached backward...especially a hi-per one is not a perfectly good main. Call me man, would love to hear from ya -
I am looking into the feasability of starting a new DZ for a friend who just aquired investment capitol and is interested in starting a DZ. Any information on potential start up costs and problems and the profitability potential, or lack of. I know some people to talk to but thought some good info may be found here. Any help, info or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Skydiving stats. for an essay
Skydiver40TN replied to Skydiver40TN's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hope someone can steer me to some good info on skydiving like # of new jumpers per year or # of tandems done annually. Anything like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -
Male or female, alot of the stuff i've read here happen to most of us early on. I had senior jumpers ask to be on me and my 20 or less jump, buddies and then act pissy cause the jump didnt work (go figure). Choose your friends, be open and honest work hard, have fun and one day you will trip when a group of seniors approach and say " Hey wanna get in on this 20 way, we here your pretty good" that is an AWSOME feeling, but dont expect that the 1st year, but it will come. Hang tough, it is worth it.

What the heck kinda exit is that?????
Skydiver40TN replied to jumper03's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
A "Horny Gorilla" and a "Magic Carpet" are very cool too. -
There are territorial, stuck up, snooty people in skydiving as anywhere. I try and make friends with everyone, it doesnt always work. Avoid those and seek out the friendly ones. Smome DZ's are very clickish, it happened to me at the DZ I trained at. I was never accepted and was never comfortable. I quit going there and was lucky that other DZ's were nearby. The next one I frequented took me in immediately as one of thier own, still some of my best friends are from that DZ, since closed unfortunatly.Dont let jerks ruin it for you

Anybody else get somewhat weak flares out of thier Saphire. I have a 149 and leaves a little to be desired in the area of landings. Otherwise I love it.

One thing this would do is to force people like me with 350+ jumps and an A license to get a B, C, or D even though I've never seen the need to upgrade. Or is this, like at boogies, where the equivelent of the license is accepted??

I became a Muff at Quincy 2000, on my 295 skydive, jumped with Papa Muff himself. Muff Bro's is about fun, no pressure skydives. If you dont get in, no one gets mad, dont take yourself too seriously, jump with up and comings, show em a good time. If some one at the DZ yells "HEY ASSHOLE" all Muffs turn and say "What!"

I was at Quincy 2000 and unfortunately missed my op to become a brother. I meant to and just didnt get around to it. Became a Muff Brother though.

I have bunches of jumps out of Mullins King Air, at Quincy, at the Marvin Boogies in McMinville Tn. and at Mullins own DZ WTC (West Tn. Skydiving) I probably have more jumps out of it than any turbine. Mike is a great guy and in my opinion the best jump pilot, PERIOD. As great as mike is, the plane would be the best fastest King Air to jump out of anywhere, regaurdless of who owned or operated it. But no doubt about it, Mike, as the owner operator is what makes the baddest ass plane the best 15 person lift in the buissness. Come to McMinville this sept to the Marvin Boogie and see for yourself.

I have about 50 DC3 jumps out of the "Mr. Douglas. All were made at Tullahoma Tn. The last one I made was the last load it flew, that was 4/16/2000. we lost the right engine at about 4500 ft and were asked to exit. It is still sitting, without engines, at Tullahoma. It kinda sux to see it sitting there when I go jump, great plane, awsome memories.
