  1. Yeah, I heard there was a cloud spotted in the area the other day. Better head for the shelters!
  2. Why don't you borrow a wrist/hand mount and find out for yourself? You could see what different body positions have what effect on the difference between the two. This would be like a calibration for your individual burble. Carl
  3. This is interesting. I wonder if belly flyers would prefer the strong typing and exception handling of Java, while freeflyers would go for the loose typing and flexible syntax of PERL? Carl --- God help me, I am such a geek.

Shark, I totally missed that one! Must still have been silly from the totally awesome 6-way we did on the sunset load. I got the pictures and the video from Tom. Thanks for the tip! I'm am so looking forward to being back out here again. Tomorrow the big plane takes me back east. Carl
  5. I spend time at Elsinore when I'm in SoCal on business. People tell me the people aren't as accommodating to newcomers at Perris, but I don't know for sure. I have to make the two-hour trek from Thousand Oaks, though. There is supposedly a closer place, but I don't know much about it. I usually just grab a hotel in Sun City for the weekend, and "move" to TO for the week. Works for me! Carl
  6. So does that mean we could get a smaller 1/2 zp for the same max weight?

What exactly do you mean by "nuzzle"? Carl
  8. Jeez, first the death penalty, now this? Keep looking. I haven't used anything else for the last several years. GUIs, middleware, server code, apps, whatever. It does almost everything but real-time embedded apps, and you can have that, thanks. Z-man, you are holding yourself back. There is little to no performance difference these days, and any that there is can easily be either ignored or fixed with hardware (such a software guy thing to say

    Orgasms

As you can imagine, it is kind of an abused concept, especially currently in southern California. There are a lot of "Goddesses" who teach something like Tantra, but not quite, if you get my drift. Anyway, the other book to read, of course, is the Kama Sutra. This is the original, and is still great! Carl

    I agree. Pull-out. Safer.

Speedy, Yes, you are talking about Tantric Yoga, great stuff! I'll have to check out the Chai book, sounds great. It is incredible how much control you can get. It can make long commutes quite interesting! Carl

Damn, I really don't read this board to get into political debates, but I just can't help myself.
  13. It isn't a real editor unless I can reprogram it on the fly with comments embedded in the file that automatically make the next set of edits for me and check itself into CVS. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOO! What a rush!!

Read a book, or get someone to teach you.

Gosh, Pyke, you seem awfully amped about this. Did you know anyone who was killed in the bombing? I only ask because if someone I knew was there, I would probably want to see the guy tortured to death, publically. That is an emotional response, not a rational one. Otherwise, don't you find it a bit barbaric that in this day and age we are still killing people for killing people? Or worse yet, justifying it based on cost? The United States, land of the free, home of the brave, sits with Iraq and Singapore (among a few other notables) as the last countries to put people to death. Now that the Grim Reaper is in the White House, I guess it makes sense that we will turn it up a notch. I've seen enough death this week, thanks. My $0.02.
  16. Pull-out. Inherently safer (duck, incoming!!
  17. It's not so much the money as the time. Wait, that was a different thread
  18. So, how will I recognize you all? Apparently pink on jumpsuits isn't "cool" is SoCal, so that's one way to spot me. It's only the back and trim, for crissakes! Carl
  19. 'moose, can you remind us again how you got your nickname?
  20. All three of them survived. Maybe your good karma contributed to that! Probably it was skill, training and well-designed and tested equipment, however. Carl

    fall rate

I hate to sound like the odd person out here (so to speak), but I think that once you have done what you can (baggy, rough jumpsuit, body position, dieting, shrinking?) the rest is up to your fellow jumpers. They can do more to speed up than you can to slow down. There have been discussions here about fast fall rates, are they good or bad, but there is a large school of thought that says we should all fall as fast as possible, which puts you into the elite class
  22. Isn't Mister Douglas still in service somewhere? It is on the list of a/c for Quincy, and I seem to recall looking up its tail # recently and finding an active record. Nice plane. I would still say that the Super Otter is the best all-around jump ship, tho. Fast, nice door, plenty of room, and with seats or benches, quite comfy! The 727 was cool, as was the Huey. I can't wait to do the B-17/24 bomb bay doors. The Caribou is a nice tailgater. Are there any more of those around? Carl
  23. So, I'm up in a ladder cutting some branches out of a tree in the back yard, and I'm scared shitless! Not only do I have the chainsaw of death in one hand, leaving only the other to hang on with, but every time I look down I think "whoa, way too close!" or "FLARE!!". I'm much more comfortable at altitude, or with nylon over my head, thanks. Carl
  24. I think your sig says it all. Sometimes hanging out with whuffos is like being among the walking dead. There is just something missing.
  25. Wait, are you saying you went to your reserve because you didn't want to bounce the clouds, or are you talking about main r/c on your student gear? Confused, Carl
