You might be thinking of the Castell Blanc Hotel, about 300m from dropzone, you can get a skydiver rate for 28 euro a night. Or call dropzone and book up a place in a bunkhouse "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother"

Below is an extact from www.speedski.com , where the speed skier wipes out at 150mph and walks away with bruises. So jump over a speed skiing course and you're away, can't say it'd be a lot of fun but probably doable now with the right spot ! Might want to cut those wings away immediately on landing though "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother"

I was there at the end of august and they were finished and very good ! The bunkhouse could do with a bit of modernising, brightening up and not sure an 80 Amp ceramic fuse should be "protecting" all lights and sockets with 2mm2 wire, a fire waiting to happen. Food in downstairs restaurant is OK but a clue as to what you are eating in english would be nice. Oh and why was I given a dried fish every time I ordered a beer? Must say though thought it was a great place and will definitely be back there, hopefully next summer. As a tip don't go drinking with the Antanov mechanic, just take it from me he'll be able to drink more vodka than you . It was quiet when we were there and it was dificult to find out about where to go for a bit of nightlife (or more importantly, where not to go), bit of information in english on bars, clubs, places to eat would be good. Aircraft - superb packers - fantastic prices - unbelievable value DZ - very good facilities Food - basic bunkhouse - basic "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother"

Soo many tunnels, so little time ;o)

Cool, looks like you've got it worked out, guess I'll put my one on hold then, we probably don't need 3 within 50 miles of each other It's like waiting for a bloody bus.... nothing for ages then all of a sudden.......... "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother" -

Hi Paul, good to hear the news. Would be interested to know a couple of points What optimum wind speed is the fan and motor designed for... i.e. will it get up to freefly speed. What is the speed control are you using on the fan? variable pitch blades (slow) or VSD inverters on the motor (fast). i.e. will it go from 4 way flat speed to solo head down in seconds or minutes ?? The scheme concept design would have been completed by HOK the Architects. It is unlikely that HOK would be given the detail design breif, the contract is more likely to have been let to a Contractor as a design and build. While the Contractors price may have been agreed it is unlikely that they would have been given an order to proceed with detail design until all funding had been agreed. So the timeline will probably look something like this; 0-2 weeks place order 2-6 weeks contractor drawings for Skyventure review 6-8 weeks skyventure approve 8-12 weeks steel frame and cladding design 12-18 weeks manufacture steel frame 18-26 weeks erect steel frame 26-36 weeks fit gubbins (fans, bells & whistles) 30-38 weeks fit cladding and make watertight 34-42 weeks internal fit out 40-44 weeks testing and commissioning 44-46 weeks certification and handover 47 weeks Start flying

It depends on how much work has been done already with subcontractors. If approval of funds means start of a Tender process for groundworks then steel frame etc you can bet on 12 months If design is complete, Tender process complete (or sub contractors already selected) you could take 3 - 4 months off that. My guess would be Halloween next year at the earliest... bring your pumpkins "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother"

Basic Canopy Control Course in Spain?
Plummets replied to scientist_chick's topic in Safety and Training
One of my mates has just got back from the canopy school at Empuria which Bruno and Reine (Sp) run, he reckons they were very good. If they can teach that fat prick (Chip) to land on his feet they can teach anyone www.fatboyzfly.com "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother" -
I have had two experiences of Sibson; 1st, as newly qualified (AFF + consoles gained in US, Sebastian), I went to try 1st jump in UK. Was ridiculed by the school there for doing the AFF course elsewhere as "not up to our standards", told would need to retake levels... too heavy... went elsewhere. Felt they were very hostile. 2nd, thought would give them another go a year later now with a 100+ jumps, got a first class DZ briefing, everyone very friendly rate it as a 1st class DZ. If they (probably one person)can now just get their head out of their arse when dealing with AFF newbies from other DZs they might just get a higher score here !

I think it's fair to say that at some stage your gona land harder than you expected, whether it's on your 3rd or 103rd jump. It doesn't mean that you're going to break anything, in all likelyhood you wont. Learning to PLF certainly won't do you any harm. I'm sure it is possible to have good landings through your AFF, mine were probably about 40% good. The "bad" ones though were more embarrassing than painful though. Don't worry about it. Yup, my AFF speeds were 140-160mph. I thought it was normal to have your instructor in front of you in a sit position . Get a suit thats extra phat in lower arms and legs, double material as well. it slowed me down a good 15 mph over a baggy flappy suit that I was using post AFF. I worked in the capital Port of Spain in the late 90's in construction and can tell you that the highest buildings there (a pair) were about 22 stories, say 300 ft. Never heard of any BASE / skydiving there then, but wasn't looking at the time. North of country above PoS is mountains (or rather large hills), South is very flat. Women hot though !
