any news about UK Extreme Bodyflight opening?
Plummets replied to Adriandavies's topic in Events & Places to Jump
It aint gona happen in Bedford ! The company behind Extreme Bodyflight is called Extreme Creations. They are shown at Companies House as being a non trading company, status "proposal to strike off". They are based in Nottingham at what looks like a residential address. I suspect this one has died (unless they are now trading under another company name) BSBD "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother" -
One of my mates has just finished his AFF recently, on his level 6 he had the most incredible spin, the video is fantastic to watch. The problem he had was that he was concentrating so much on getting into the "correct position" that once he thought that he had he just kept in it. He was extremely calm (to the point of having his eyes closed at times!!) but not relaxed, infact in his one position he was as stiff as a board. His "flat spin" smoothly transitioned from flat, to spin in vertical plane, to on his back spinning and back to belly down. There is is great shot from the instructors head cam as he tried to stop him, as his legs came around they got the instructor square on the head sending him into a 360. He finally had to come down ontop of him and dump for him. They now occasionally use it at the DZ as a training video

Aerograd (Russia) or Empuria ? August
Plummets replied to Plummets's topic in Events & Places to Jump
To those that've done both Aerograd and Empuria....How do they compare ?? Price and planes (+helicopter) look great, what's the catch? What about nightlife ?? I trust it won't be under 4 foot of snow at the end of august !! "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother" -
Ummm. "Nearly all" being the operative words, When I returned from Sebastian with a completed AFF and 10 consoles I went to the nearest UK DZ, quite a big one, to rent kit, jump and get the signature from the head of the AFF school / CCI to get BPA A licence. Was told would have to re take a few levels as wasn't happy with that qualification - no mention of any check out jump - He went on to say that under BPA rules I wasn't allowed to jump as over weight limit etc.. etc.. even though kit same size as used before. He did say however that he was an agent for certain manufacturers and could sell me "whatever size I needed" and jump that. The guy was an absolute cock with his head stuck right up his arse, so after some frank exchanges of e-mails where he withdrew his kind offer to sell me a rig and suggested I pay for his time and advice. I went elsewhere. (Hinton, no problems at all there). I also checked out the BPA rules and the guy was talking shite, now he really should have known better Wow, a year later and I still rant about it, sometimes you look at the UK DZs and wonder why they are quite so anal. I would actually recommend to anybody go get your AFF abroad. You may come back and find the odd prick who'll look down their nose but fuckem all !! UK wind tunnels - anyone got any insider news?
Plummets replied to Newbie's topic in Events & Places to Jump
The extreme bodyflight web site hasn't been updated in 6 months or so, you would think the developers may have advertised their progress if there had been any. I think August is "unlikely", the company behind Extreme Bodyflight is a company called Extreme Creations, whose reigistered address is in Nottingham, perhaps someone should ask them how they are getting on. The Skyventure in Milton Keynes will take a minimum of a year to procure and build once the finances are in place. Book a trip to Orlando or Paris is probably the answer! You are only allowed 7kg hand luggage and 15kg in the hold. I think they are on commission at Girona (empuriabrava nearest) as they are very strict and will charge you 6 euro per kilo you are over "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother"

See you on 19th
-
Or go 28 Euro for Castel Blanc hotel, incl. breakfast, 300 metres from the DZ

Broke mine skiing, not alot you can do about it, feels like you've been kicked in the arse (ass) for about 6 months !! You'll get very good at sitting with the back of your thighs taking your weight as you'll soon get too embarrassed to carry the rubber ring around with you "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother"

Umm.... size 16, oh good "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother"

Yup, coming to Gothenburg shortly though to check out your women "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother"

I wouldn't worry too much, in the unlikely event that someone checks you out and grounds you, go and see the resident rigger there, Colin. He can generally solve any issues "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother"

Empuriabrava - internet access?

1 euro for 15 mins at the DZ bar. 2 machines but they are painfully slow but do the trick if you need it. "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother" -
I have had non sky diving friends staying at the bunk house with no questions asked, admittidly it was the old bunk house but dont imagine that would make a difference. There are six to a room now not four as before, so personally I would recommend goiung to hotel castel blanc for single rooms for 28 euro a night, its 400 paces from the DZ to front door, I know coz I counted when pissed !. Its a very nice Hotel (and I'm not even on commission yet) "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother"

Pilots.....Runway lenghths????
Plummets replied to freeflir29's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I built one once in the Caribbean, it was extending a 2000ft which took twin otters to a 4000ft to take American Eagle ??ATR83s or something like that (can remember they were dropping out of the sky in icy weather so were moving them somewhere warmer, something bizzare like that anyway) I digress, get hold of ICAO annexe 14, gives you chapter and verse, inner transitional slopes, which is a slope to the sides etc which buildings and things cannot penetrate...... Its a book about an inch thick of mindless drivel and numbers but will tell you what you want to know. PM me if you really want to know might have an old copy kicking around somewhere "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother" -
Your not kidding, I like the "L23 Blanik" shown on their boogie site, an enormous jumpship for errm 1. Says without cockpit and you appear to sit on the wing ! That just doesn't look right. Whats that all about ?? "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother"

Wondering how common a touch of brainlock is. So far in my 60 jump career its struck twice (lightning is also strangely attracted to me)... Brainlock 1.. Second consol after AFF. Good exit checked alti 11,000 feet, few manouvres, checked alti 11,000 feet!. Thought I must be relaxing more as the dive is lasting longer, checked again 11,000 feet....... hang on was that 11K again ? thinks few secs...... Wow that pond i'm heading for is a whole lot bigger than normal, pulled. Jolted alti back to life at 2K Brainlock 2. At around 40 jumps went on hols to South Africa, did a couple of jumps on rental gear which used hip mounted ripcords. Had only ever used Boc even on AFF, so had a converstion course / briefing which was fine and jumps were good. On return and several jumps later on a skydive U jump I inexplicably went for the hip mounted ripcord, which despite a thorough search was not there. It took the ever increasing size of the planet make me realise maybe I should be going for silver, it was at this point that I thought "maybe I should try the hackey first". Still opened above 2K although don't consider this good as we were last out of the Otter so knew we would have a long spot so agreed 4.5K. Made good video.... Is this type of situation normal for low timers ?? I am somewhat reassured by the fact that realisation of impending doom (forgeting cypres of course) does appear to unlock the affected parts "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother"

Are you sure ?? I have tried and can't do it, got used to watching in French, hey I nearly understand some of it now ! "Life is a bowl of deadly nightshade, stay way way out on the rim brother"
