  1. I have a lot more lift on my Hurricane, although I'm wingloading it more. I dont get half the lift on the Heatwave. Yes, my profile says 135. Had a really cool landings on it, but I still felt that the 150 would be safer. So here I am with the 150. On a cool morning, you don't land a Heatwave, you arrive!! And all I wanna do is fly.....
  2. Why is bigger on downwind better???? And all I wanna do is fly.....
  3. I fly a Hurricane 150 with a wingloading of 1.7. It is alot safer than my Heatwave 170. I say jump a 135 untill you are happy to go over to the 120 again. You should be able to make youre own call at this stage And all I wanna do is fly.....
  4. Pretty simple, NOT!! This is what I did eventually, what you want and other people think you want are two different things. This is what you do: Take the camera to a lens shop. Ask the dude behind the counter to fit various tipe of lenses and then see the effect. Focus on something and see the difference. With one lens you'l be able to see the whole shop and with the next the blackheads on the salesman's nose. Now take those hard earned bucks and give the nice man the lott!!! I feel, really I do! And all I wanna do is fly.....
  5. Hi, I have a Sony IP5E. Everytime on opening, the focus go all stupid on the camera, it makes a vibrating noise. as I say, the only thing affected is focus. If I switch it off and on again, it's fine. Have anayone experienced something like it? Do anyone have an idea what it could be? And all I wanna do is fly.....
  6. Hi, I have an IP5. Bought it secondhand from another Skydiver. 1) One cannot bitch about the service from SONY, as there is no service to bitch about. 2) Movie Shaker for MMV is all you really need. I have made some really cool videos with it. You can even capture in Movie Shaker and then save to file as Mpg, AVI etc. 3) I have a Pentium 4 - 2 GHz laptop with Fire Wire port (Not a SONY) and it works like a bomb. 4) If the footage seems "UNSMOOTH" ensure you have all other programs running in the background closed. This solved the problem for me. As for everyone that have had problems with the IP5, remember one thing: The IP5 is ahead of its time. I see more and more laptops on the DZ. I can give you an edited DVD with the music you want and text where you want, Menu and stills within 1/2hour after landing. In South Africa we have this time between 2 loads so it works for me. The writing of the DVD takes 15min and the editing 15min. If you want to, I can send you footage to show you what this camera is capable of. The size is directly proportional to the care that needs to be taken with this unit. It isn't as robust as pervious models, so prevent any knocks and bumps. G'bey for short but not for long. And all I wanna do is fly.....
  7. Hi guys, I have to admit, sometimes the period you have to wait for new equipment can get a bit long. It’s like when you are 8-years old and it's the 22 of December. It's just not "Toy-time" yet. I've just ordered my FOURTH Vortex11 rig. Relax a bit and take some advice: 1) You will have to wait a bit, these guys are busy with some 50 odd rigs before yours will fall in line. 2) Don't even try and tell me you can get the same quality rig at the same price ANYWHERE else because.....wait for it........YOU CANT! 3) If you are in South Africa, I wont have to tell you this, YOU CAN NOT BUY A TEARDROP because.....wait for it again.......PISA DOESNT EXIST ANYMORE!!!! The only Teardrop you are buying is a secondhand one or the one on you’re pillow when you realize you could have ordered VortexII 2 weeks ago. 4) Speak to Pierce himself. Pierce will tell you when you can have you’re rig, because he manages the manufacturing side of it. He will tell you how far down the line it is etc. 5) Don’t be an idiot, the only way to get anything done is to stay on top of it. Ask questions like: When will you start? When will it be complete? How busy are you? Do you need to order any material for my specific design? etc, etc, etc. If you don't ask you won't know. ChuteShop is the only manufacturer who still manufactures decent equipment at semi-affordable prices. I'm not slanting Aerodyne here, I just cannot afford their products. Oh yes, there is more than one agent for ChuteShop, Shop around......... And all I wanna do is fly.....
  8. 1-You have to deal with the agents. 2-We pay the same price that you would pay for it, their reasons being that "otherwise the guys from abroad will buy from SouthAfrica and not from Aerodine's dealers in other countries". This makes sence from their point of view, however, why should they make more money of me than what they would make of you? That bites me!!! 3-Then the dealers will ask you R6000 for artwork on it and when you speak to Aerodine they tell you it should be 1/4 of that....????!!!!*^#$%~ And all I wanna do is fly.....
  9. Hi, I have read the discussions on the Hurricane and ZP canopies as well as the Vortex II harness made by ChuteShop, their service and the problems. I dont work for ChuteShop. I don't get anything from them and have no personal ties with these guys. I however have to say this; If you think you have problems buying from these guys, imagine how difficult it is for a non-millionaire in South-Africa to get his hands on new American or European equipment. Import costs, handling fees, 200% middleman markups and plain straight daylight robbery will get you a system for +/- R65000. Now incase you guys were wondering, The SouthAfrican Rand was at US$12 just the other day. That would translate into US$5500. Now seeing that PISA (the ex-manufacturers of Teardrop harnesses and Heatwave and Hornet canopies not to forget the Tempo reserve) have sold to Aerodine, we end up paying USA and European prices for their equipment, we don't get dicount for no shipping and import costs. So, the Vortex II is a very, very nice container. It is a goodlooking, very well designed and exellently manufactured toy. The new ZP-EXE canopy is nothing like the old ZP. I couldn't believe the bottom-end flare on this show when I had a demo jump with it. (Once again this free of charge, what do you say about service now?). The Hurricane is a beautifull eliptical canopy. As with most canopies, you have to fly it to understand. Now, The following system: Vortex II with hip and chest rings. Hurricane 135 Decellerator 135 Reserve This will cost me R18000 / US$1500 How on earth can I sit around and listen to stories of how bad these guys are. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be able to fly a new system, made for me. Do yourself a favour, give Pierce a ring, you will be amazed how their attitudes have changed. I'm not saying this was allways the case, but hell, service is a new concept in Africa....... If you guys can get me a better system at a competing price, I'll take 2.
