Hey Dude, need just a little more information to help you out. What kind of main are you flying, are you on student radio still?? Perhaps you need a ground instructor to help you out. Sounds like your confidence is taking a beating. Will check back and try to help. The Sky is NOT the Limit, the Dirt Is!!

Speakin' of us older ones, tell you a quick story. I First Jumped when I was 43. Found myself at a dropzone on a Saturday morning 3 months after a Very messy breakup. Found it's difficult to be thinkin' 'bout divorce when jump master hollers DOOR. Been jumping plenty since, 200+ in the last three years, and have found, at least for me, that skydiving is much safer, and cheaper, than relationships...Clear, Blue Ones The Sky is NOT the Limit, the Dirt Is!!

Chris, welcome to the forums, take your time here. There's a lot to learn. I, too, have an extended off season here in Canada, have been counting the days and killing time by buying gear on e-bay. I am a firm believer in Check, Check, and reCheck. Learned this lesson on my 98th jump, when, after being checked both on the ground and in the air I went to dump at about 3k to find my hacky still tucked into the sleave. Dug it out, all was well, but learned a valuable lesson. I now do a six point check, in this order......Cutaway, Reserve, Leg strap, Leg strap, Chest, Hacky. Much better to overCheck than to underCheck just once. The Sky is NOT the Limit, the Dirt Is!! -

Hey Jaded, welcome to our world. I will not poke fun either, however, I would seriously question your load master/ orgarizer for allowing a student, presumably under a HUGE canopy, to jump in that kind of wind. As a student I was once in the plane, moving down the run-way when we were called back 'cause there was a student on the load, yup, me. I was pissed, to be sure, however, I do not have a 'landing in the parking lot' story, either. Sometimes our coaches over-ride our adrenaline. Bought a used Sabre 150 straight off of student status, against the advice of my DZO. He was wrong, this ride is 'all o that' Could be because I went from a Manta 288 to a Sabre 150 about 160 jumps ago, but this wing has treated me well. Just ordered a brand new Stiletto 135, definately happy with PD....Blue, Clear Ones
