how many young sky divers are there on this board?
gulaz replied to TribalTalon's topic in The Bonfire
I turn 19 right away... I started this summer, and at my DZ there are about 5 or 6 skydivers within the 18-25 age range. -
How many jumps did you do in your first year of skydiving?
gulaz replied to andy2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I just did # 62 this weekend, and I did my first jump on May 11th of this year... dont know how many I will have by next may, depends on how this wonderful winter pans out... -
After the first jump, I didnt roll the nose, and it sniveled less (but still for too long) and then I packed it with the nose practically poking out the back of the cigar roll, and it was better. Im going to talk to some more people about it, but im thinking that before the slider was changed (I never jumped it before, just heard that it slammed) maybe it just wasnt packed well. Who knows

back buttons dont need to get worn out... I have this really cool program called Little Browser Bumpers which lets you just "bump" your mouse against the left/right side of your screen to move the active browser window back/forward... takes some getting used to, but its addictive, once you start using it, you cant stop.....

Just did my first (3) jumps on my own main (an Ovni 160... F-111 canopy made by Parachutes Canada). It was great (still waiting on getting the rest of my rig working). The guy that jumped it a few times before me said that it opened really quick, so I got a bigger slider put on it, and rolled the nose when I did my first one... oops. Here was my opening pull->look up->check altitude-> look up again-> check altitude-> look up again, think about how pretty the parachute is->look down->reach for handles->then it finished opening (1000 ft later). I got it figured out now though . Landings are fun, its a good thing theres snow on the ground... I would have grass stains on the ass of my jumpsuit along with rocks and sticks if there wasnt

Heres what you will look like... kinda...

How oftern do you practice your Reserve drills?
gulaz replied to bluegremlin's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I just had that dream last night... lol. I dreamed that I had a lineover on borrowed gear, and executed my procedures, and then after I landed, I gave the handles to the owner (who hadnt seen the reserve ride) and said "I think these are yours"... it was kind of a funny dream -
I have wanted to get XM radio for a while, but its not available in Canada... has anyone with one of these driven north? Im pretty sure that the satellite footprint extends fairly far into the country... if the signal is strong enough, I might just have to find a way to get it here...

A student at my dropzone had the same problem... they did about ten 3sec delays. They did AFF level 1, and that sorted out their arch, and relaxed them a bit more... might be worth a try.

Moderation: [n] the trait of avoiding excesses Excess: [n] the state of being more than full Look at that... according to the dictionary definitions... as long as you dont drink until your stomach is "more than full" you are drinking "in moderation"

How does that work? If you are in a place to overtake the last person, wouldnt you yourself already be the last person? You cant overtake yourself...

Its vancouver BC now...

Read some posts here, and started wondering what DZ.com was like in the past... and the wayback machine reveals: Clicky!

Definetely black mouse, orange buttons... but some stripes or something would be cool... maybe, the top all black, buttons orange, and wherever the case splits into two for the bottom, paint the bottom orange, so the bottom half of the edges would be orange.

I bought a food dehydrater before my last trip... worked great. What I found was the best meal we had, (and we had it 3 times...) was just regular spaghetti sauce, dehydrated, and spaghetti. The sauce gets really light, and small, and the pasta is already. Really good for you, and tasty too. We also made a shitload of beef jerky, and fruit leather and stuff with it. Worth the investment.

... because they dont hafta pack, right
-
You can pack a round with the same equipment as a square, and isnt any more complicated
-
There is a bolt-on bracket, that has the still and video cameras attached to it (with regular tripod screw things I think)

We have been getting pretty good results from the current camera, but its tough trying to keep track of roll numbers, and who ordered pictures, and then mailing them the right ones... Here is an example of what the pictures look like, to give you an idea of what we need.... This is a bad scan (my scanner is being repaired right now... another story) but the pictures do come out quite clear.

I had been looking through their website, and had thought of that. I need to phone some camera stores around here, to get an idea of prices, so I can compare. I cant find any information on the recovery time though, after it takes a burst... any ideas?
