Well, I'm starting out with a used PC1, so neither the warranty nor "mutilation" are big issues. Don't see any way to keep a part of the keeper from falling into the inside of the camera, though... I kinda like the drilling idea, but I'd have to make the hole big enough for the black plastic part of the plug, right? If I make the hole small, only big enough for the metal plug, it won't go in far enough.

What do most people do with the little cover over the Lanc terminal? Can it be removed, do you rip it off, do you leave it open (and flapping in the breeze)?

Mostly inside, sometimes outside, you know how it goes, sometimes you find yourself outside even if you meant to be inside. :-) Like I said, I just got this camera, so I want to get a lens that I can get started with. After a hundred jumps or so I'll know exactly what I want.

I just picked up a used PC1, want to start using it for FF video. Sony sells a 0.6 for $80, the Royal is a 0.5 for twice the price - is it that much better, or should I look into something different? Is the Sony 0.6 wide enough for small-way FF?

I've had these freefly pants for about 2 years now, and I think they're great. Used to jump a Michigan freefly suit, but now I really prefer these freefly pants with a long sleeve T-shirt on top. I have good control with this combination, both head-down and sit or stand flying, with a good range of fall rates. My only quibble (and this is really minor) is that the plastic keeper on the drawstring doesn't hold tight enough, and the waistband loosens enough to let my T-shirt flap when sit-flying. I fix that simply by tying a knot in the drawstring. Again, this is a really minor point, these pants are really great. They're also holding up pretty well, after 2 years of use they look good as new.
