Ha ha, yep, and I am loving every second of it. Anything that opposes Bush, Republicans, or anyone conservative is fine with me, Im all for it. Give him some shit Demos!!!! Paybacks a bitch, isnt it? Its us against them, and we are finally winning the battle. Ive said it all along, out enemy is in the whitehouse, not in the middle east. Anything that defeats the enemy is a good thing.

Because if they do, Bush will hold them liable and totally responsible for any misgoings that result from it. Congress is trying to cover its ass, so to speak.
-
Yep, we definitely will. Congress has got him cornered this time. It appears that they strategized things, first by asking, now by telling. If he vetos the bill just before funding runs out, he has noone to blame but himself when they run out of money. Congress DID its job. Bush still doesnt get it. The Democrats were put there by the public because the public is opposed to him, and still he whines about it like a little crybaby.

What can I do to be more patriotic?
jumprunner replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
I vote kellend for president. Great platform, except for the part about paying the taxes. I think we're paying a little too much for what we get. All we get right now is some stupid, useless 'war' and a bunch of so called 'heros' who are just people who joined the military because they couldnt find a job. Its okay, Im putting myself down too. I joined the Army in the early 80s because I couldnt find a job. But at least Im honest about it. -
But I cant see the difference in 800 years and 1100 years, like he is really going to live past 1 year when the other prisoners beat the living crap out of him every day for the rest of his life. They attack child molesters in prison because most of the prisoners have children, so they get especially pissed when a child molester comes in.

Seems like news pertaining to Bush, sending new troops to Iraq, and the whole scene pertaining to it has been quenched in the news. I am finding not one article on politics listed on the search engines. Interesting.

****1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand. I always thought they were the same thing. 2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity. Other way around. Businesses create prosperity when Bush is out of office, governments create oppression when Bush is in office. 3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans are more of a threat than U.S. Nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Chinese and North Korean communists. I think Rosie O Donnell is fat and ugly. So much for gun control. 5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical documented changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUV's. And baseball moms driving SUVs. Football moms driving SUVs are okay. 6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being homosexual is natural. Do artificial gender roles include transvestites? 7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding. Stop screwing and you wont have to worry about federal funding. 8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach 4th-graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex. Which is easier? 9. You have to believe that outdoors men don't care about nature, but loony activists who have never been outside of San Francisco do. Nope, only the ones who have never been outside of Montrose in Houston and Austin, TX 10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it. You dont have to earn what you should already have. 12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution. The ACLU supports certain parts of the constitution? 13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high. I dont know any liberals that think taxes are too low. I do know a few that think taxes are illegal. 14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Gen. Robert E. Lee, and Thomas Edison. Well, not Robert E Lee. 15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not. Depends on the race. 16. You have to believe that Hillary Clinton is normal and is a very nice person. Only when she is naked and in bed. 17. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge. I guess you can say the same thing about facsism. 18. You have to believe conservatives telling the truth belong in jail, but a liar and a sex offender belonged in the White House. If the only people who belonged in jail were conservatives telling the truth, then all jails would be 100% unoccupied. 21. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right wing conspiracy. I believe everything I see on TV is part of a vast, right wing conspiracy.

Senators Assert Right to Block Bush’s Iraq Plan
jumprunner replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
A murderer, a dictator, a liar, and a complete backwards thinking dumbass. Bush is nothing less than a complete embarassment to this country and everything it has ever stood for. That idiot is not my president and never has been, so I never refer to him as the president since he is not, just 'that dumbass in the Whitehouse' will do. Sorry to say it, but I think that dumbass in the Whitehouse may just win this one. From what I gather, Congress can only limit funding for the war, and the general consensus is that they wont. Even if they do limit funding, the dumbass in the Whitehouse can veto it, and there isnt enough of a majority in Congress to override his veto. In short, I believe Bush will get his way, more troops will be sent regardless of the overwhelming opposition from Congress and the public, and the war will go on and on indefinitely without any end to it. The hole is dug. -
You, with all the other conservatives, can jam as much rhetoric into the situation as you want, but it is still as meaningless as it has always been. Seeing is believing, rhetoric is BS. Its that simple. There is no reason for the Iraq war other than to wage a war of aggression for profitable purposes, there was no terrorism at all directed at the US from Iraq, the economy has been held down to astronomical lows since Bush has been in office because Bush nor the Repulicans support the working class, and the standard of living in this country has been degraded to all time lows for the majority of the population. Like I said, seeing is believing, and your arguments hold no ground at all.

I keep getting lost on this recurring issue. Exactly, what is it they are trying to accomplish over there? For instance, Bush keeps saying something about 'winning', winning what? Winning Iraq, as in Iraq is to become a US territory? Im lost.

Oh yea, Iraq might launch a full scale invasion on the US and we might all be forced to convert to the Muslim religion. -
Liberalism in the Classroom (Long, but I need your opinion)
jumprunner replied to Michele's topic in Speakers Corner
my sister works for a university - their 401K program matches 2 to 1 (unlike most industries that match 0.5 to 1). And, tenure is an interesting concept also. But, universities are political institutions, if the guy is PC Milquetoast and sucks, he gets fired. If the guy is some activist, he gets fired if he is in disagreement with the general faculty staff (despite his performance or lack of one). If he's an activist and agrees with the general faculty, then he gets cut a ton of slack. best for students to just avoid the topics in class and not waste the time. and not feed the jackass. I think some companies might also be political institutions. I interviewed with a defense contractor recently, and, well, you know what my political views are and what can set me off in a split second. One interviewer said something about Iran and nukes and I followed through with what a crappy president we have. Didnt get selected for the second round of interviews, but didnt want to work there anyway. if I kept my mouth shut during the interview and got the job, it would all eventually come out sooner or later. -
Liberalism in the Classroom (Long, but I need your opinion)

I can tell you that the way you are going now, you are going to have a rocky road getting through some of these college courses. I have found that, if you dont get along with the class instructor, then there is a good chance that you are not going to pass the course. It always works out like that, and I even had one instructor tell me that. Something you might want to remember, if you dont like repeating courses. You initiated a political discussion with an instructor and got yourself into this mess, mainly because, you dont mind voicing your opinion when you think you are right. It's okay to do that here on the forums, but keep it out of college courses, unless you plan on repeating several of them during your college career. To illustrate this, I remember a political science class where I and several others had a difference in opinion on a political view with the instructor. All of us with differing opinions made a "D" in the course and had to repeat it. She was popular for doing that. The Dean wont do anything but blame it on you, in any college, its always the students' fault and you as a student have no say-so with any instructor. Dont look for Democracy in a system that is not Democratic. I have a degree in Chemistry from TTU, so if you need some help with Chemistry let me know and Ill see if I can help. Best to not talk to him anymore, just smile as you pass by would be the best policy for now. Saying anything to him will just dig a deeper hole. -
Bush "I'm the Decision-Maker". Yeah, no shit.
jumprunner replied to Zipp0's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm tired of the politicing around the war. Those in disagreement with Bush are being just as destructive to the lives of the troops by not submitting a solid plan of their own. Put up or shut up. Hey, we are putting up! Here it is: Get the fuck out of Iraq, now, without any furthur delay, Bush. There, that is the solution, and the only unacceptable solution to the problem he has caused, which we, as American citizens, are not responsible for. And the reason why we are not shutting up is because he wont do that. -

Right. Bush proponents love to point the finger at Congress for giving him *permission* to go in there, but now think their opinion is meaningless, as it's Bush's call. Blues, Dave The "compassionate conservatives" are throughly confused, as usual. But we must learn to have patience with them. Like their master, "Jerrys' Kids" arent exactly the smartest people in the world, you know. Gee, I wonder why. It hasnt been working in the 90s, it hasnt been working for the last six years, and it's still not working. And they call us pessimists. -
On that note, I might as well tell you, my last contract paid 55 / hour, which is generally what I get, which amounts to 110K, and Im single. No doubt, I am on a higher socio-economic scale than you are, and I pay much more in taxes than you do. Seems to me like I should be the one complaining about it, but Im not complaining, you are.

Yep, I think youre right, that conversation is going nowhere. They are well versed on the Bush rhetoric of "the economy is great, youre an loser, you need to change your career field to whatever, if you cant, too bad for you....go beg for money, who cares?". I guess that's as passionate as the conservatives get. And, that's why I vote Democrat. So they can take MORE money out of that paycheck you're bitching is too small... smart move!! At least Ill have one. Thats right, smart move. You may just be on your way to being a good Democrat after all.

BTW, and youre not going to believe this, but my entire family, living in the Houston/ Louisiana area, are just as, if not more conservative than these three. When my aunt, another of the 'compassionate conservative' Bush fanatics, when she dies, Im not even going to bother going to her funeral. My response to that will be "FUCK YOU, you are dead and in the ground and Im alive and doing fine you freeloading bitch, tough shit for you!". Im taking compassionate conservative lessons from DaVinci and mnealtx.

Youre so worried about your "safety", and you jump out of airplanes. Right.
-
Well, you got your numbers. See the post above. I dont know why youre still arguing the point. It is clear that Bush, like I said, has decimated the economy, put a lot of people out of work. And thats what you call getting better? Bigger deficit means getting worse, not getting better. Dont plan on blaming that on Clinton too. Bush was elected in 2000. The deficit has grown since 2000. Why? Well, cant blame that on the Demos either, since Congress was Republican controlled. Who can you blame it on? Your favorite president, ofcourse. I dont know the solution to the problems he has caused, but I do know one solution....get rid of Bush ASAP. Thats a start.

This is going back and forth, but the end result is always the same. Lot of good talent and education here in the states that is being thrown away. I have one cousin that decided not to ever attend college because he saw his dad with a college degree and out of work struggling. Thats how a poor economy affects kids growing up, you cant tell them to get an education and better themselves when they see things like that. American jobs are for Americans, and I dont give a rats ass about anyone in India, Africa, or anywhere else for that matter. America and the state of the US should be the only thing that matters to this government, period. The majority out there is going to dictate where the US is going, and if its' going in the shithole, then that's where it's going, and they are the ones that are going to take it there. Oh well.

Because people with your job title have flooded the market. 20 years ago a guy like you would be worth millions, 10 years ago a guy like you was worth hundreds of thosands, 10 years from now your job will be done by kids fresh out of high school. And the pay has been adjusted. Let me point one thing out here. Employers with software engineering positons are requiring people with college degrees, they dont hire anyone fresh out of high school. Thats like saying, they hire doctors and lawyers fresh out of high school. It is a job that requires an extremely high degree of education and experience, as well as a mathematical and engineering background. The flooded market youre referring to is comming from exportation of jobs to India, everyone in my careerfield knows that, but you dont since you are not a software engineer or in the IT industry. The catch is, software product ripoffs. Cheap labor turns out a substandard product, you buy it, you get ripped off, but they still get your money, stock prices go up, and the CEO gets richer. Ive already seen it happen at a company I worked for in the past, you cant argue with me on the point because I was there. They hired cheap labor, screwed their customers out of their money, and they sounded off about the crappy nature of their software on internet blogs. But the stock price went up, and the CEO parachuted out a rich man. You, and others like you, are under a misconception that Bush is doing something good for this country. He is doing, and has done, nothing in the way of good.. When yall start waking up to that reality, then things will improve. Its always Bush this, Bush that. What about America? Are you people so in love with Bush that you just dont give a damn about the state of your own country? What is it about this guy that turns you on anyway? Has he done anything at all for you? You want to be conservative, thats fine, Im conservative. That doesnt mean you need to support Bush, that's not conservative, that's destructive. I just want a better economy, no stupid, useless wars, not all of these problems and misfortunes Bush has bought about. Is that really asking too much?

You mean like, McJobs? Sorry, 7 bucks an hour doesnt pay 1200/mo in rent. And I live in a modest 1 bdrm apt. Maybe I should try a tent. There it is, you just spelled it out!!!!! And why are they a dime a dozen? Because the little mongrels in India, living in shacks and eating their bowl of rice everyday, are willing to work hard doing their low quality crap for just 5 bucks an hour. And you see, in this Bush economy, its all about cheap labor and higher payoff for the CEO. Fuck the quality...just give me the money. Fuck the consumer (ummm...that would be you), we'll just screw him on quality and charge him more, he wont know the difference. Wrong. I know a lot of software engineers even more qualified than I am that can find nothing. Again, you spelled it out. TONS of people, overseas, who live in an exchange system lower than ours, who can get the job done for a lot less than I can, because the cost of living here is so much higher. So much for protecting the American worker. You keep talking about being safe. We are not safe from being raped by foriegn competition, which is what is happening. And why? Not because they are better, only because THEY ARE CHEAPER! So what's left? McJobs? Fine, maybe Bush would like to take down the cost of living since he's already done that to our salaries. What are we expected to do, live in tents? And they go on about how great our "high standard of living" is. Yea, maybe for a few people, but not for the majority. You want a great economy, then support the working class in America, not that cheap Bush sponsored bullshit. Its the working class that buys cars, spends money, buys houses that are affordable. A few rich people do not make up the economy. We dont need to be another Mexico, and that is the path Bush is taking things, all founded on lies and bullshit. The economy under Clinton was fantastic, there were jobs everywhere, salaries were going up and up, everyone was doing great. Thats because the Demos support the working class. Then the Bush monster shows its ugly face, and WHAM! There goes the economy, here comes the bullshit and rhetoric. Sorry if Im not finding anything to wave the flag about. Its a little hard to find reasons when they fuck up your entire life and everything that you have ever worked for. And Im supposed to be thankful because Bush is making me safe from terrorists. Screw that, let the terrorists kill me! The economy is fucked up, my life went with it, they would just be doing me a favor.

It is called Earth, third planet from the sun. With your views, I don't think you would like it here. Seriously, you can't debate the topic so you try some third grade response? Maybe you just missed the meaning of what I was pointing out. See, there are only two points to be made here. Either I am a loser who doesnt know what he's talking about, or you are not living in the real world. Now, you are more than welcome to argue that maybe it's just me and not the economy. But look at the comment I made in my last post before you do, and let that be the basis of your argument. Now, you tell me, why do you think I am finding a lack of opportunity in this great economy of yours?
