Yeah, I live right around the corner from that old Molson's Plant. They located the grow facility inside one of the old storage vats. Incredible. If your computer has USB 2.0 ports then a USB 2.0 solution will be virtually the same as a IEEE-1394 (Firewire) connection. If you only have USB 1.x then 1394 is the ticket. The real difference will be cost. External 1394 drives are usually more expensive than USB 2.0 I assembled my own external drives using a standard drive (Western Digital WD-2500JB) and enclosures from startech. (Bothe USB 2.0 and 1394. Either solution works great. First Vehicle was a bike. A 1977 Honda 400 F Super Sport. I drove that thing everywhere from last Snow in the winter to First Snow in the fall. Speaking of alternatives to Norton AV, I've had great success with Panda AV. No, It's not free, but , Again after having to (Surgically) remove Norton, Panda found several viruses in Outlook Express. Even after I had just previously scanned with NAV 2002 with all of the updates. I haven't compared NAV 2004, but I was really impressed with Panda's performance. 30 Jumps this year. I got off of student status and am progressing on my way towards my 'A' ( In Canada, that's 'EH!') Between adding a second job (250 km from home)and crappy weather. All in all I'm happy. I'm in a great position to make progress in my skills development and found DZ.com. What else could you ask for. Familiarity is certainly a good reason to use a unit of measurement, however, I normally drive my car more than a few thousand feet at a time. My personal philosophy, is to look at the things I do out of habit and reevaluate them to determine if there is a better way of doing them. In Canada we adopted the metric system in the 80s, maybe now is a good time to suggest that we change all of the posted speed limits to m/s. I was reading on the Alti-2 website that the new software release for the Neptune Altimeter was going to record in MPH instead of Ft/Sec. due to requests from users. Personally, I would prefer to use Ft/Sec. as virtually everything in Aviation uses Ft/Sec and is a much more relevant unit of measurement. Sold the Corvette last year (right before the mid-life crisis ). Bought a 2002 Trans Am 35th Anniversary Collector's Edition, last year of the F-Body. My current winter beater is a GMC Sierra 3500 DRW. Slightly better in the snow then the T.A. Dave, I just bought one knowing the status of it's development and client software. I bought it because I don't currently own an audible of any sort and after looking at it's (when completed) feature list, thought that it would be the best of breed. (Not intending to start a brand war here ). I really liked the (at this point vapourware) client software and the PalmPilot companion software. Now if only we could get functional versions. How many people that bought Neptune own a competitive product? How many use both?
