John Rich, Thanks for your response. I am unable to get access to the chute at this moment. I belive the data panel is stenciled on not sewn on and the stencils fade over years to the point they are difficult to read. My question remains, what types of planes did they come from and what were there use? Were they ejection seat canopies or the canopies that were packed in main containers on the P3's...? Exactly what were they used in? What type of planes? Thanks.

my post is a valid question. mjosparky, if you're not going to address the question, then move on. skymonkeyone, my question is valid and in the appropriate forum. If you're not going to address the question, then move on and stop with the name calling comments.

I have one of those military round canopies that have the 4-5 different colored panels, ie white, orange, olive, tan... Can anyone tell me how these canopies were used? ie were they ejection seat canopies or were they packed in containers for planes like the P3 Orion...? Do they have any value or use? Thanks.

Would anyone know if there is any use of or the value of an older sport harness and container that held a main canopy only? It has the shot and 1/2 capewell release system. I don't know who it is made by but I would be interested in selling it if there are any collectors of this type of gear.

Wingsuit flying landings with skis and no parachute opening?
BravestDog replied to BravestDog's topic in Wing Suit Flying
The video of the guy who jumped down the ski slope with a wingsuit looked as though he might have been able to land with skis. Maybe if an experienced ski jumper were to take up wingsuit flying, they would have the experience to be successful on the landing part. After all, they have landed numerous times under difficult conditons. -
Wingsuit flying landings with skis and no parachute opening?
BravestDog replied to BravestDog's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Wondering if anyone will ever be able to jump from a plane with a set of hinged skis attached to their feet, fly a few miles and then land on a ski slope? Without opening their parachute of course. -
Marijuana and Skydiving. Good, bad, indifferent?

Air Cav Do they give a list of what drugs are forbidden? Is aspirin or other mild drugs included? How specific are the FAR's? -

Funny response. But I'm trying to get some serious answers. -

Is it against the law if a person has a medical prescription from their doctor say for pain, appetite stimulant...to jump under the influence of marijuana? Or are you saying it is against the law to just possess it? -

I think there is a moderate to major difference between a person who takes a puff or two versus someone who smokes a big fatty before. Wondering if the amount smoked by a person would influence how you feel about jumping with or being in the same plane with? What if a person drank a quarter, half... of a beer prior to jumping. Do you think that has an effect on their reasoning and would that make you not want to be around them? -
Fear and flying with skydivers questions please.
BravestDog replied to BravestDog's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'd like to get some responses from the: a. pilots who fly or have flown planes that skydivers jump from b. skydivers who ride in the planes... I'm trying to get an overall idea of the principle for safety and pilot/passenger fear when flying jumpers. 1. How do pilot/passengers feel about having jumpers hanging on the outside of your airplane prior to them jumping off? Does that make the pilot/passengers concerned, scared, terrified...? 2. Do raft jumps make a pilot/passengers concerned, scared, terrified? 3. How about when jumpers hang from bars under a skyvan? Does that scare the pilot/passengers? Just trying to get an overall feel for pilot/passengers when skydivers are climbing or hanging off from an airplane they are riding in. Is it legal to ride on the outside of an airplane, ie sitting on the fuselage...? Feel free to add anything relative to the general questions. Thankyou. -

What if a person took a puff or two prior to jumping and they are not acting crazy or dangerous? Would you still feel uncomfortable with this person in your plane or jumping with them? My initial questions were not meant to portray a person who is obviously under the influence of marijuana that they reek of it or are stumbling..., because sometimes if a person takes a puff or two, it may be difficult to determine if a person is under the influence, correct? How would you feel about jumping with or riding up with a person that you can't tell whether they are under the influence, a light user for example? PS. There is no reason to get hostile at me or call me names, I'm just asking some questions about marijuana and jumping. -

I am trying to get an idea of how jumpers view marijuana and it's effects on the mind in regards to skydiving. Here are some hypothetical scenarios that might occur on a drop zone. 1. You, personally smoking some before you jump by yourself or with a group? 2. You straight, and jumping with others who have smoked a few minutes before the flight? 3. You straight and other jumpers in the plane have smoked prior to the flight but you're not jumping with them, just riding up with them? 4. Has anyone ever smoked before jumping, had a malfunction or something unusual/dangerous happen and went into brain lock and then thought about it after being on the ground? 5. How about if you knew the pilot smoked prior to take off and you knew he was a seasoned, safe type pilot? 6. Any other scenarios re marijuana and jumping that I can't think of that you would like to add? Again, I'm trying to get a feel for the acceptance or rejection of marijuana and it's use around skydiving. You can remain annoymous by just posting hypothetical answers and not incriminating yourself. Thanks. -
2 questions please. 1. Do current wingsuit designs have hard flexible cambers and battens similar to the system used on modern sailboard sails to give the wing more shape or is it being tested/designed now? 2. How about braces used to keep the arms out lessening arm fatigue. Has this been tested or designed? Please add anything relative. Thankyou

How about a forum for speed skydivers?
BravestDog replied to BravestDog's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
How about a forum/category/discipline area for speed skydivers? They don't seem to have their own forum and I think it would be interesting to read about the speed demons. Thanks -
This was quoted from here http://theworldteam.com/RSCrecords.htm 7,200 feet for 672 skydivers. This has to be wrong? Don't they mean 17,000 feet instead of 7,200 feet?

Wind Tunnel versus Airplane Jump. Differences?
BravestDog replied to BravestDog's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Wondering about the differences between a real airplane jump versus a wind tunnel jump. Can anyone describe the similarities and differences between the two methods? When or who would you use one method versus the other? Thanks. As I was searching this forum, I found a link to a site that specializes in wind tunnel issues. www.bodyflight.net http://www.verticalwind.com -
Wingsuit Tandem questions. Hypothetical.
BravestDog replied to BravestDog's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Is that also true if both jumpers are experienced wingsuit flyers? I wonder if you could design a "tandem" wingsuit, intended to take advantage of the configuration--kind of a biplane wingsuit. Sounds scary. I think I'd rather do a tandem BASE jump. Now that's an incredible idea. A biplane tandem wingsuit. Has anyone ever tried it before? -
FALCON 265 CANOPY. What's it worth and who would use it?
BravestDog replied to BravestDog's topic in Gear and Rigging
I don't know it's condition other than it appears to be complete with lines, slider, risers...and there are no tears or stains on it. It is a student type canopy? What would be the proper weight rating? It's dated 1992. -
FALCON 265 CANOPY. What's it worth and who would use it?
BravestDog replied to BravestDog's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have a Falcon 265 square canopy, dated 1992, unknown # of jumps, that I want to sell and it is listed in main canopies in the classified section if anyone is interested in contacting me. Can you tell me its approx value and what type of person would use it? ie beginner, intermediate...light weight, medium weight... Was it a good canopy or can you describe it's flying characteristics? Thankyou. -
Have you ever tried scuba diving in a moving semi clear river that is maybe 5-10 feet deep? You can see the bottom move by you as you get a free push from the river current. I've always enjoyed that experience as it felt like I was flying over the bottom and not kicking with the fins.

Wingsuit Tandem questions. Hypothetical.
BravestDog replied to BravestDog's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I'll assume wingsuit tandems are not available at the moment. If wingsuit tandems were possible, how would they differ from the normal tandem flight? If a passenger was exposed to both flights, would the wingsuit tandem be more enjoyable because it covers more distance? Would if be obvious or subtle to the passenger that a wingsuit flight would be covering a few miles in horizontal distance? Please add anything relative that I may have overlooked. The topic is tandem wingsuit flights and the difference to the passenger as compared to a standard tandem skydive. Thankyou. -

How high is the typical jump 2. how many people can jump 3. how much does it cost 4. what's is like to jump from a ballon as compared to an airplane, helo... 5. is it difficult to maintain proper body position as you are falling with no wind initially 6. please add anything important that I haven't included. Thanks.

Wind Tunnel/Fan questions.
BravestDog replied to BravestDog's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There is a woman in this picture http://www.skydiveperris.com/tunnel/bio/mary.asp and it shows here flying very close to the ground in which looks like a open wind tunnel fan. Has anyone seen these before and can you tell me how they operate? Do they work only for light people or can 200lb people use them? Please include any comments or points of interest. Thanks.
