  1. When you see the jumpers flying the high speed canopies...what kind of ground speeds are they getting assuming there is no wind? How do you make the canopy go faster relative to ground speed? How do you make them go slower...? Can someone tell me about speeds, both vertically and horizontally, in normal flight and turns, with high performance canopies and then compare that to the lower performance squares so we have a comparison? Thanks
  2. I met a man who wants to start a vertical wind tunnel in the San Jose, CA area...and I was conversing with him about who the clients would be. My questions are: Would skilled jumpers use the wind tunnel for fun, or is it mostly used for the relative work competition jumpers for practice...? Or is a lot of the fun of skydiving packing the chute, dirt diving, waiting for the plane, the ride in the plane, the exit, and knowing you are falling at 120mph towards the earth...? I was trying to figure out who the clients would be that would use the wind tunnel? Would it be the beginning free fall students, intermediate jumpers, advanced competition jumpers, tourists one timers...? Your opinions appreciated.
  3. When skydivers are in freefall with each other...do they look for airplanes, ultralights... that just might be lost and flying through the dropzone airspace...? Or do skydivers just jump and enjoy the view and pay attention to the people around them? thanks
  4. 1. How fast do the speed skydivers go when they are doing the speed skydiving stuff? Please give me your response in miles per hour. 2. How fast vertically and horizontally do regular jumpers travel when they are tracking? Thanks
  5. 1. Why does it cost $1 more per pound of body weight if you weigh more than 200lbs on a tandem? Is it because it cost more for airplane fuel to get your body to altitude or more wear on the equipment...? 2. Why do you only go to 6,000' if you weigh more than 215lbs? Why can't you go to 13,000' like most tandems? Why the low altitude? What's the reason? I'm including the link to the Parachute Center in Lodi, CA as a reference for your reading. http://parachutecenter.com/tandem.htm here is a quote from there site "Maximum weight for this program is 200 pounds. If you weigh between 201 and 250 pounds, the cost for the introductory jump is an additional $1.00 per pound. If you are 215 pounds and under, you will still go to the top altitude, if you are over 215 pounds, the jump is from 6,000 feet with a shorter freefall time, but you will still have a five minute descent under the parachute. " Thanks
