  1. from the news i heard that a man shoved his wife out of the way to be the first one out. so here is a question... what is the process to remove it from the runway? ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  2. If only you could use your drivers license to jump .... well, under the light sport pilot rules here in the US, i can fly a light sport plane with a drivers license, after being trained how to fly. he has been trained under the USPA. a jump with an instructor should be the most required. someone is just wanting to make some cash off this guy. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  3. I am traveling for work and was able to drop in for a jump at Sky's the Limit DZ in PA. Compliments to the DZ staff, very warm and welcoming. Very nice caravan! Good vibes all around. I only had 1/2 day to spend there, but would definitely go back!
  4. Shit! I just checked my laundry and its not dry yet... what a way to go out. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  5. A childhood friend of mine, died at age 17. He had brain cancer. We grew up in Silicon Valley, Los Altos more specifically... and through technology and geography, Steve became his friend. My friend was an child genius in computers. Steve spent much private time with my friend in his last days. He was a good man, he did well, and he will be missed. I can only think that his mission in this life was done, and he was free to,... move on. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  6. i have had people move on purpose to the side of the lane towards me when I am splitting lanes. (which, yes, is legal in California.) So tempted to kick the side mirror off when that happens. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  7. and I feel the degree of "safety" is greatly affected by the "I" factor. "I" being the number of idiots that has the potential to affect the rider/jumper. Think of it like a multiplier, The higher the numerical result, the lower the safety level. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  8. Porsche sells the 997 GT3RS equipped with a roll bar. Well sells the 997 GT3RS with a roll bar everywhere but in North America. But there is a difference between a roll bar and a roll cage. i know. i figured by the tenacity of this discussion, that someone would point that out. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  9. http://factoryfive.com/ and my 1967 Shelby GT 500 came with one stock, but that was years ago. we are looking to buy a MK4 roadster someday. not sure if this car qualifies as production, but they do sell quite a few. meant to say that the roll bar is an "option." and you can get plugs that fill the holes in the body if you don't install the bar. 11. extras.... "Easin' down the highway in a new Cadillac, I had a fine fox in front, I had three more in the back. They sportin' short dresses, wearin' spike-heel shoes, They smokin' Lucky Strikes, and wearing nylons too" ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  12. Very good point, and repair prices are going way up. A coworker's Escalade is costing $700+ for a speedometer replacement. that is just silly! heil, i don't even look at the speedo on the dash anymore, just the GPS, which I move from car to car. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  13. i travel for work, driving "marketing vehicles" in other words, anything from a bug to a semi truck with silly graphics. so, number 1.... a good seat. number 2 working cruise control. all else i carry in my pack.... navigation unit, chargers of all kinds, inverter, tunes, maps.(yeah the paper kind, they don't require batteries, and rarely fail.) i don't like built in things, they take waaaaay to long to get fixed when they break. better off set up like i am, just head to a best buy store, to buy a new "whatever just broke." ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

    Reno Air Races

I'm sorry to hear that your friend was that close. It is sad that so many lives were lost, most of which had minimal acceptance of the risks. It should not have happened. When someone attends these type of events, they need to understand the risks. But, I feel with movies, video games, computer graphics, and over all video of things today...there is a "softening" on the actual "energy" in what is taking place. Thousands of lbs. of aircraft, an engine pumped to the max, both pushed to the max.... things are going to fail, its physics, plane and simple, and most people fail to get this point. Before I was born, my parent were at a local sprint car race. Crash happened, and a wheel went flying up into the grandstands. My future dad pushed my future mom down and covered her, and the wheel slammed into the person behind them. She died. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  15. yes they do! and, you should try night scuba dives.
  16. Being that I just lost my mom, I would say take some time and be with family. Even if it is just for a short while. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

    Reno Air Races

(just posting, not responding to anyone specifically.) I am hoping to make it to the reno races someday, so I hope they are not banned. I accept the danger, just like I do when I skydive, fly, scuba, ride my motorcycle or do anything else in life. Its my choice, and should always be. Curious, are there "acceptance of risk" terms on the back of the tickets, like there are on ski lift tickets? (which I would bet most did not even know are there.) ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  23. Yeah dont get that at all, I would never think of "keeping track" or my wifes spending. to enter into a relationship with this as a concern, to me means there's already a communication issue I, too don't understand the "keeping track of". Mike and I have only joint accounts which we have equal access to. We don't differentiate "his and her money". It must not be obvious in the way I phrased it, but I *don't* want to keep track of her spending. I just want to be able to throw $500 worth of gas in the boat without first asking her whether there have been any recent couple hundred dollar trips to Victoria's Secret (e.g.). Having our own accounts plus a joint account lets us each spend confidently without having to ask what the other is up to. Blues, Dave ignorance is bliss? ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  24. you, and your spouse, are either all in, or all out. separate accounts is a prelude to failure. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  25. and that is a good thing for me too. i have not had working wipers in my jeep for about 7 years or so. but hell, i live in the desert, and i do not drive it when it rains.
