wow, thats a much better price that what my buddies paid Airborne in Australia. but, i still have to figure international freight and customs. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

yes, that is what i got..that just does not seem right....34 bucks for an entire new sail (the fabric)? the email did say "ZAR10 350.00" though. is the "10" at the end of the ZAR a multiplier? ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

I am purchasing a new sail for the wing of my ultralight from the manufacture in South Africa, and the price is in ZAR. If they quoted me ZAR10 350.00 how much in US dollars? (buddy paid about 3000 usd for his from australia) I have found some conversion sites, but the price does on seem right, or more likely, i am just lame.

with that attitude you should go live in a socialistic commune. this is america...built on the capitalistic model...where there are winners and losers. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

ahhh....i went to school up in Chico where that is brewed. my neighbor worked at the brewery, did not drink, but was able to get a case a week...free. my room mate took him fishing, we got a case of beer. this was a weekly thing. life was soooooo good. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

We buy a live tree, then plant it after the holidays. Had the same fake tree growing up for years...strange looking white frosted thing. Couple of years ago, we bought a palm tree for christmas...in the spirit of Corona beer.

I went to Chico State (number 1 party school according to 1987 Playboy) and I think ASU took the title away from Chico a few years later! ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

i would think that the state would have to be serious about DUIs...after all, ASU is located there. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

yep, i would rather sit on a corner near my house with a cardboard sign begging for money, than deal with a commute. the average commute from here to down the hill is abut 1 hour. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

I live in the high desert, above the LA basin, in Hesperia, CA. Having grown up in silicon valley (Palo Alto, CA) with intelligent people, trees, perfect weather, Santa Cruz 17 miles away, Tahoe 3 hours (years ago, before traffic) I really had a hard time adjusting to the dry, dumbass redneck, mostly treeless, ....desert. I have been to 48 states, and was on my way to move to Florida when I met my wife, and we decided to stay on the West coast. Its been 5+ years and here is my take... I now like the desert. You can see for miles. There is no real traffic (unless you commute down the hill as we say to LA, Orange county, the Inland Empire, etc.) No one really tells you what to do here, unlike the rich spoiled ass area where I grew up. The air is clean, we dont have smog like LA. We are 45 minutes from Big Bear ski area, 90 minutes (early in the morning from Laguna Beach (scuba), 70 miles from Skydive Perris and Skydive Elsinore. There is a tunnel at Perris. 2 hours from Vegas for great shows, close to LA for great shows too. 3 hours from Kern county, some of the greatest white water in the world. You can dirt bike ride all over here. I fly my ultralight around the entire valley here every weekend, dive bombing off road bikers and quads...they love it. We just purchased a 1600 SF house, with pool, on 2/3 of an acre for 165K. This area is being hit hard in the real estate area, great time to buy. ( this is our 6 house ). with 20K down you can be cash positive in a rental from day one. So within 2-3 hours you have...skydiving (turbines), skiing, scuba, rafting, and local you have...dirt biking, flying, hiking, and....meth labs. What I dont like. meth heads everywhere, idiots who think they are bad ass becuase they have a tatted up arm and a lifted 4X4 and have the unique skill of wearing there baseball cap with a big square bill low on their head. No real intelligence to speak of, having a college degree here is rare. (not that a college degree automatically makes you smart) No real well paying jobs. My wife and I are self employed so we do well, but really no "professional" work here...you have to commute down to the hill...50 miles or so. This is a service job area. I am a general contractor and my wife is a realtor. Does this help?

Awesome! I wanted an overflow hot tub on my pool but I didn't think it through that it would have to be closed for the winter when the pool is winterized. So, no hot tub. Yet! I see you're in California. I assume you keep it open year round? Here in NJ I opened it a few days after Memorial Day and closed it the Friday after Labor Day, if I remember correctly. i am in the high desert, up at 3000 ft, but we do keep the pools open in the winter. funny thing is, i now run a pool service company, and i came over to fix this pools' pump, the owner was selling the house, and we ended up buying the house! we have some freezing here, but i maintain about 40 pools through the winter. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

ok ok...so here is my pool at night. we bought this house in July...great time to buy real estate. the pool is about 15 years old, but still in fair shape.

took me about 6 hours to solo. it is very easy to fly, no flaps, pedals or stick...just the control bar. intentional skydiving out of it is of coarse prohibited, but people have been known to fall out. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

my weight shift trike, 15 meter 70% dual surface wing, 582 cc 65 HP....very very fun! I flew out at El Mirage this weekend, the SCTA guys were out there running cars and bikes across the lake bed for high speed records....very cool. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
