  1. You are one of the great ones Michael, and will surely be missed. I am glad to have been able to spend time with you during our crw adventures. BSBD.
  2. Try Poynter's vol 2, page 126
  3. Forget any folding type knife. Benchmade also makes a model 7, which is easier to grip than a model 5. For a long handle knife, go with the Raptor from Square-1. For under the mudflap, go with a 4 inch SURE-CUT, and use a sheath to keep the blades away from your MLW.
  4. Actually, that method has already been mentioned in the Icon manual, page 11. for soft links on reserves.
  5. Triathlon is the only main - still selling - that matches that description. ------------------------------------------------------ What about the PD Lightning?
  6. ...maybe try standing on a milk-crate instead...

If my first cut-away is a hard spinner, I'd much rather the metal loop to hook my thumb through to get a better grip on it rather than fumbling aroudn trying to grab a pillow...just another thought ---------------------------------------------------------- just another thought ....wouldn't you be trying to grab a pillow , to cut-away first, before sticking your thumb... somewhere?
  8. Why I'm being ignorant today? What's a kill cone? Terry Urban D-8631 S&TA ME, FAA Master rigger ---------------------------------------------------- A Kill cone is a device that "kills" the drag of a non-collapsable pilot chute on a retractable pilot chute system, such as those used on a PD Lightning.
  9. Is it required to have a crew canopy? ------------------------------------------- It is not required, but it is favorable to have canopies that are compatible with each other, and CRW specific.
  10. How do I go about getting involved in this? --------------------------------------------------- 1 ) Attend a beginner CRW camp. 2 ) Aquire a PD Lightning. Is there plenty of crew jumpers in central FL? --------------------------------------------------- Yes. Locations: Sebastian Lake Wales Z-Hills Titusville
  11. try samsonite hardshell carry-on.
  12. Martin was the yellow with blue center stripe canopy and Mike Paolin was on the left with the white jumpsuit, right....D'oh!!! --------------------------------------------------------- I believe that is Tim Raup in the white jumpsuit, with Dave Richardson above him.
  13. Wasn't there some hook knife useage to remedy that situation? ---not that I have any interest in using hook knives or anything---
  14. The bridle occasionally left friction burns in the top and bottom skins, and in the two ribs adjacent to the bridle. --------------------------------------------------------- What type of material was this bridle?
  15. If, I am not mistaken, for every 6" of finger-trapped line, 1" length over all, is lost. ---------------------------------------------------------- Doesn't that depend on the diameter of the line? (900 lb dacron vs. 725 lb spectra)
  16. : Please post a pic of your low profile D-handle. ------------------------------------------------------ V-310
  17. Hey Kleggo, 4 Play is NOT Allen's team from FL. It is Kirk VanZandt's team. Allen was filling in for 4 Play's injured pilot, Bill Runyon.-- Bill was injured at home, 2 weeks prior to nationals. He is recovering well. Thanx, Allen, for being part of the team on such short notice. Dean
  18. There was a New England CRW Record of 25 held at Jumptown, in Orange, Massachusetts 2004. Hopefully to be broken later this month.
  19. Here is a couple of pics. One is disassembled and the other is assembled with the screws in place, but not tight (to show placement)
  20. cutaway cable is not a problem. most cables that are out should be stowed between the velcro. ---------------------------------------------------------- I didn't see where plowdirt mentioned cutaway cables. If you are referring to the reserve cable that sticks out past the reserve d-ring handle, than the info that you gave is wrong.Do not stick the reserve cable end between the velcro. Doing so could cause a reserve deployment at exactly the wrong time.
  21. I've heard about riggers using WD 40. PPM 4.156 states to use a food-service grade, pure silicone with no petroleum distillates. WD 40 contains petroleum distillates. Any thoughts?
  22. I wave off and throw out.......and waited....and felt my self still accelerating. NOT FUN. Look over my shoulder to see my pilot chute flapping around at bridle stretch but also bobbing up and down. Well...I went to silver. So...what did I learn? That my practicing of emergency procedures all the time, ---------------------------------------------------------- What about cutting away before activating your reserve, if you have something out? Were those your normal ep's for this situation? Just wondering.
  23. , or let them continue to jump until they hurt or kill themselves and bring bad press to your DZ and the sport as a whole. ---------------------------------------------------------- I think the idea of Billvon's proposal is to help avoid the scenario that you suggest.
  24. You have 28 jumps & are using a reserve loaded at 1.33, & are concerned with "the perfect solution to combat the rushing noise during freefall."?? And you're telling others -"It all comes down to common sense." ????
