  1. So Altico specs out the D3 for a 170 reserve. anybody ever had one with a Tempo 210 ? how about Tempo 210 AND an AAD ? tnx P.S. Before those who want to bitch about proper sizes, start: http://www.altico.com/dolphindetails.htm specs "APROXIMATE SIZING"
  2. you can opt to use Paypal and use your credit card. you can opt to use your DZO/rigger as a middle man you can opt to use escrow service you can opt to meet the seller. Afterall if you live in any major metropolitan area and so does the seller, and the $$$ amount is large - what's $200-$300 compared to the piece of mind ? It's quite likely that you or the seller know somebody in the area - so you can use your friends as middle man for a face-to-face Either way you do it - GET ON THE PHONE AND TALK TO THE SELLER FIRST - that may not give you more confidence, but that sure as hell is going to weed out all the scammers/idiots. BSBD
  3. me three !!! frustrating as hell since i know that I did everything right ! :)
  4. over 100 jumps on an HC3 - no problems at all.
  5. I have done all but side/flat pack. What's funny is that the recent chop was on a very neat pro-pack. I guess unless somebody wants to buy a slammin' Coblat a rigging loft will get some $$$ from me. thanks for the answers. And Gabor - quit fucken arguing, it's not what this shit is about - just answer the damn question or stay quiet.
  6. yes, I know that's supposed to be the case. And it was with my 2 previous ones. But this one wnats to be difficult.
  7. I have used a smaller PC as Atair recommends. And after trying one full flight WS deployment with it, I don't care to risk an HD opening :) But point taken, a search shows this debated before. Thing is my previous Cobals/Spaces have treated me very well. let's see what others chime in.
  8. yes, I did the search, but I have not found any RECENT answers. :) I have a Cobalt with about 500 jumps and lines with about 60 jumps. The thing is s SLAMMER. I have packed it any which way I can. I have read the manual. It makes almost no difference. I love the way the canopy flies, but I DREAD the openings. I understand a pocket slider and/or H-mod could cure it. - Anybody care to suggest what may be a better solution (or both ?:) and who to go to to get it done (hopefully in US/Canada)? I have jumped a Jedei with a pocket slider yesterday, and pulling in full WS flight the thing was soft as butter - it was an absolute JOY to to feel that opening :) 2nd Q : I also just bought a Cobalt that has a rip across the top right endcell. In my crude assesment it will need a full topskin replacement on the endcell along with a rib replacement and a smallish patch on another cell (no seams). Atair is unresponsive, yes I called and emailed. Who would I turn to who can handle this ? THe canopy is DOM 2003 and seems to be the Gelevanor (south african ZPO) - Looking forward to the answers. BSBD
  9. I keep doing that for many people on my dz - some people seem it more convienent, others just dont care to deal with email phone calls and shipping. I do online sales for a living, so that's no big deal.
  10. ok, more for thought even if you get the risers with the canopy - you may have large 3 rings on the risers, and small on the container that you are using - so those risers will be useless to you. Same thing with the dbag/pc - your container may be setup for a pullout - and you most likely will have a throw out PC - again, would be fairly useless :)
  11. http://www.miragesys.com/DesignOrder/SizingGuideByContainer.aspx I am suspecting a well used Sabre2-190 will be no problem. An almost new one will fit, but be fairly bulky. I have a G4 M4 and when I used my older Coblat 170 in it it left plenty of room.
  12. Just for public information, Jee has proved that there is in fact a dealer advertising Brand New Sabre2 canopies in their stock for the price of less then $1350. So let me : a) apologize if anybody even remotely thought that I was suggesting Jee is peddling stolen goods b) politely stuff my foot in my mouth c) ask for anybody to explain to me how this is possible.
  13. Unless it's a stolen canopy there's no way a DEALER is able to sell it for that little. $1350 is a good price.
  14. I bet that i you let go of the toggles while in flight the toggles can dance in the wind (assuming velcroless). I bet if you dont stow the toggles right away after you land - they can rotate a few times. what works for me : check your brake line all the way from the cascade down to the toggle beginning of every jumping day. Ideally do it every packjob, but that gets boring and you don't always have time Once you land, keep the toggles in your hands and set your brakes and stow them. good luck.
  15. :) I am sorry, your post only stated J1. Or at least that's all that I am seeing. Either way, I had a 1993 Jav that only stated a yoke size. So i s'pose "much older" would have been an easier statement. Regardless, Nick showed spot on how to measure the MLW. lets keep arguing though. I love the internet.
  16. that size will be written on the rigs label, like C17. now sure how to physically measure it on the rig though I have a Javelin and Dolphin and do not see such a label on either. Newer Javelins do that. C for yoke, 17 for MLW. Older ones just give you a yoke size. Dolphins just show a size like a tshirt - L(arge), M(edium), etc.. http://www.altico.com/dolphindetails.htm OLDER Javs do it too, mine Jav was a 1993 J1 J1 is the container size. C17 or similar is the harness size... Unless you mean to tell me that you have super wide shoulders and a super short torso :) cya

  18. Landing in SFO in about 15 hours, staying for 3 days. Got a rig, a slider and a few pilot chutes. Anybody wanna hook me up ? cya
  19. Actually I enjoy your posts immensely. It's just no matter your knowledge, it's no sub for a larger sample group - thus I posted my personal experience with one camera. cya
  20. sounds like mad, mad fun. Can you describe your rigging setup and deployment and exit procedures ? We are blessed at our DZ to have about 70 airworthy T10s laying around that our DZO actually ENCOURAGES us to jump when the winds are good.
  21. simply put it BLOWS. as awesome as HC3 HD is during the day, even when it's overcast you can see that it's nowhere near the quality. Nighshotwise - it's quite poor compared to the TRV22 that i used to use.
  22. if it ain't private - then keep it public. Dont hide the knowledge. Unless of course you are the fan of letting the whole forum know that you sent a PM
  23. i dont know about the stabilizer. I know i have no had any issues. My experience is limited to 1 slider down jump and a buddies 1 slider up. The rest have all been skydives. I have never had it skip. But i repeat even with overcast skies I can feeel the colors dissapearing. I use he Bonehead box on top of an Optic. And I think that the box is overpriced for how simple it is. ($183 + ship)
  24. on that note I can say that HC3 is an awesome camera, but its low light performance SUCKS, and nightvision is even worse. Furhtermore, anybody sidemounting this camera or thinking about it is crazy in my opinion.
