  1. I understood your point, but what I said was that there were thousands of Next out there without any problems. Actually, Paratec and the Next has had only a few service/safety bulletins during the years, mostly with minor issues. If I remeber correctly the design of the main flap never was an issue and never was changed since the Next release. Don't be a Lutz!
  2. Do you really think? The Next is actually very popular in Europe, it holds TSO c23d, and I never heard from any problems. The europeam freefly champions (I think they reached the 3rd or 5th place in the world championships) are the team "Free Flight Paratec" of germany. They jump Next rigs all the day - no problems at all. I think the Next hasn't any issues with it's main flap. If you open the container on the floor you can easily see, that there's no problem to roll up the pin or something other that could worry a jumper. Don't be a Lutz!
  3. I can easily pick up my rig by it's main flap on my Paratec Next! See the photo (i know, the picture isn't the best, had to lift up the rig with the left arm and to photograph with the right hand)! Don't be a Lutz!
  4. OK, on your new homepage you haven't the packing volumes listed. But I'm pretty sure that there were volume charts a few weeks ago. Some equipment-dealers have copied the charts you listed on the old homepage (for example: check the Paragear- or the Albatros-Site ). Don't be a Lutz!
  5. Hi Folks, I'm wondering about the Spectre packvolume: The most jumpers I've asked told me that seven-cell-canopies would have a smaller packvolume compared to similar sized 9-cells. Thats's also my impression: In my container, which should have a maximal volume of 380cui fits my Spectre 150 medium/soft. But when i visited the PD-homepage my confusion was perfect: PD says, my Spectre (413 cui) would have more packvolume than a Stiletto 170 (385 cui) or nearly as much as a Sillhouette 190 or a Sabre 2 190 (both 416 cui) has. So, what is true? Is it an error on their homepage, or what? Don't be a Lutz!
  6. That's impossible to answer in generally. The trend in the market is that almost every new canopy is designed to open very soft. But it depends on size of the canopy, jumpers weight & speed and many other factors how soft a canopy opens. Caonpies which are known for its sweet openings are: Spectre Sabre 2 Sillhouette Safire (2) Firebolt Pilot Nitro(n) Rage (Paratec) Crossfire (2) Katana Blade And some others I've forgotten Don't be a Lutz!
  7. Pro's and con's are in the eye of the beholder But to answer your question: That's bullshit. Vigil cuts the loop in the same way as Cypres does. (One of the reasons why a couple of people say that Vigil is only a copy of the Cypres, yada yada). Don't be a Lutz!
  8. Had to cutaway a Baglock yesterday. The Speed reserve (170 sqft, loaded @ 1.37) came VERY fast and VERY soft (I can't imagine how could this be...) and on heading. It flew stable like an anchor in the sky. The Speed 2000 saved my butt and brought me uninjured back to the earth - what could you expect more from a good reserve?
  9. There's also the "Powershot" from the Paratec Next-Container (see images) Don't be a Lutz!
  10. I'm the owner of a Next since 1 Year now and I'm really impressed by quality and construction. The main flap for example - *IMHO* - seems to be the best solution on the market. Costumer service is also great. Well priced, rock solid rig. Many jumpers from Germany are jumping a Next. Next holds TSO c23d and also JTSO c23d. By the way: the Next now comes in a new version too: The Next Century. The "old" design is still in production too, so you can compare the differences with the differences between Mirage G3 and Mirage G4. It's a matter of taste if you need things like cut-in-laterals (Next Century) or not. Don't be a Lutz!
  11. No, this test series I saw on TV. The company-boss said in the interview something about the test speed. And I can remember, Paratec showed in a advertising clip (at the end of a festival-video) this test too. Don't be a Lutz!
  12. What do you base this statement on. They are tested to the same standard to receive a US TSO. Sparky I base this statement on the knowledge of the Paratec tests. My rigger told me, that Paratec tested the Speed with incredbile velocities and weights. I know from one test with 300 mph and a few hundret pounds of suspended weight - the Speed 2000 "survived" the test series without damage. Don't be a Lutz!
  13. Go with the Paratec Speed 2000 - packs small but is stronger than the most other reserves out there because of its smart design. Don't be a Lutz!
  14. I would like to point out that a TSO has nothing to do with the main parachute. You're right, but it seems, that the major factor in this case is the container, isn't it? *imho* It could have been any canopy you can imagine. My guess is that that has no influence in this case. Just my 0.02$ Don't be a Lutz!
  15. I would like to add, that the equipment used holds TSO c23 D, so we can't easily count this accident as an incident due to unproven equipment. Don't be a Lutz!

I jumped the Next for a couple of months now and I'm really impressed by the design and quality of workmanship! Everything detail is great. The reserve- and especially the main-pin-cover protects the pin much better than any other design on the market. I can lift up the rig at the main flap without the flap comming out. The only design I can compare in this point is IMHO the Infinity. Also the riser-cover: They stay shut if they have to and come out if they should. Great! This is a great rig for a great price. The only cons I have are the fact that ParateC don't offer Anti-Twist-Housings yet. Maybe in the future. All in all a bombproof rig that provides me the safety that I wan't. With the Next I can Jump without worry about my gear!
  17. Hmmhhh... maybe HE speaks english? Here in germany we learn more than our own language at school . Someone speak english better, someone worse (me!! ) Don't be a Lutz!
  18. From what I've heard, it depends on the jumps the canopy has. Back in my student days I made a couple of jumps on an older PD 210. It opened really soft every time with a long snivel. But a friend of mine jumped a pretty new PD 170 for a longer time and got slammers on every jump. Don't be a Lutz!
  19. Sorry Tom, but you should know, what you say about this point: Vigil is banned in germany by technical reasons since 21th of september, here is the official bulletin of the german parachuting association: http://www.prueferverband.de/Sicherheit/TM-SB/Technik-Info%20Aussetzung%20Musterpr%fcfung%20VIGIL%2029092004.pdf The bulletin ends with the words: "Kopie an Advanced Aerospace Designs nv/sa. (Beligen)", which means in english: "Advanced Aerospace Designs nv/sa. (Belgium) got a copy" Don't be a Lutz!
  20. Ohhhh... what a thread! Someone is talking about AADs, someone about Space Shuttles, someone talks about airplanes and old computers and another are talking about old cars. In germany we describe this kind of unobjectively discussions with a proverb: "They compare apples with pears" Don't be a Lutz!
  21. ... *bg* Probably means it works - probably. So in this case, probably means nothing. Only time will tell. Don't be a Lutz!
  22. YEAH! I'm the only one who voted yes Free mind, peoplez (of course, I never heard such a stupid idea like spraying the canopy with water)! Don't be a Lutz!
  23. *bg... yeahyeah, the name sounds really stupid, you're right *roflmao* Don't be a Lutz!
  24. Nice swoop! Is that your crossifre 2 / 149 from your profile? Don't be a Lutz!
  25. I bought a Gravitator Freefly Suit last year (I live in Germany) and couldn't be happier. The quality of fabric and workmanship are very well. The only negative thing I have to tell is, that the suit is red but the zipper is white. Im pretty sure that you can avoid this by a simple email and they will change the color for you. The customer service is the best I've ever seen: After I ordered the suit, I waited a few weeks. I contactet gravitor and they had no issues to make me another suit. One week later, the first suit arrived, then, another week later, the second. I contactet them and they said "don't worry about this, please send us the other suit back, we will pay the shipping costs". If I buy another suits, they will be Gravitators! Don't be a Lutz!
