  1. Thanks skydiveradio.com for the plug! Keep up the good work. Jesse http://www.skydiveradio.com/
  2. Sorry J, It's hard to believe our little old cessna boogie is attracting so much attention. It will be great to have you guys! On another note, if jumpers are looking for canopy coaching we have what you need as quoted from Isaiah from PD: "Scott Roberts from team Fastrax Swoop and myself will be available for any canopy coaching, a lot of what we'll probably end up doing is air to air drill dives." Come on out and take advantage of their expertise. Jesse
  3. I heard the midwest freefly legend might not be able to attend. My jump totals for the weekend just increased! JM
  4. I forgot to mention that we'll be doing C-182 formation loads. Last year we built a nice 2pt 12-way but ran out of time to get off a 16 way which will be the goal again this year. I hope to do a formation load or two friday if there is interest. Jesse
  5. Once again the DZO's in Kansas will gather the state's fleet of C-182s in one place to allow jumpers to get to know each other a little better and have a good time in the spirit of unity. Everyone is invited, you don't have to be from Kansas to attend. This year's boogie will take place at The Kansas State University Parachute Club's DZ at Wamego, Kansas. We hope to fly a couple planes on Friday and Sunday with at least 4 on the Saturday of the boogie. Just like last year, it will be a no frills boogie with no registration. We'll take donations for pizza at the end of the day and I'm sure there is enough beer owed around here to cover that end of it. Performance Designs will be there with demos and so will Art from The Skydive Store. So if you're thinking about new gear these guys can help you decide. GO FAST has also signed on to keep everyone energized. KSUPC Alumni from all over the USA will also be gathering at this event. If you fit this category please contact us! Nothing formal is planned, just hanging out and making a few jumps with old friends for those still active. FMI go to: kansasskydivingboogie.com or skydivekstate.com Jesse KSUPC aka-Skydive K-State
  6. They played the stall video several times over at the Zoomieland campground. It might take a few days(if ever) before it makes it's way on-line. JM
  7. Let's move on from this. I can't believe no one has started a forum about how the skyvan at Couch Freaks stalled on jump run when more then 10 jumpers doing a raft dive were past the red line the day before the cypres fiasco. It took the pilot to 6500ft to recover. That made great video!! JM
  8. Just wanted to move Couch Freaks back to the top!! See you all there. JM
  9. We actually do have an outhouse at our DZ. I'd probably only put the old skydiving mags out there. You know, the ones that are more newspaper-like. It'd be kinda like using an old Sears & Robucks catalog. ksjumper
  10. I'm having a hard time parting with my magazines although I know I will never look at them again once a new one comes. I've accumulately several boxes over time. I'm moving soon, what should I do? ksjumper
  11. It's good but I use skydiveradio.com to fill in the void between issues. JM
  12. Me too!! If you live within 4 hours of Omaha and didn't make it you missed out on a great time. I hardly ever post but I have strong feelings here. LSPC put on a great boogie with great aircraft!! JM
  13. I've got one, better to have a hook knife than to hook it in!!!! JM
  14. What is the going rate for a jump pilot any way? At our DZ we pay a rate per load plus $5 for travel to the DZ, $5 for lunch and have a 5 load mininum on weekends(we'll pay them for at least 5 loads whether they fly 1 load or 5+ C-182? King air/Otter? JM
  15. The lastest is that he was flying with his father and I think both were pilots. The guy who got out of the plane may have actually been the pilot in command. Not to be morbid but the sheriff's deputy said that the body was found 30 ft from a 3 ft deep crater. This is pretty sad. JM
  16. This was definitely not skydiving related eventhough the word "jumped" is used in many of the news stories I have seen or read. The authorities are not saying much about the circumstances that led up to this person exiting a plane in flight although they speculate suicide. After a couple of tense hours of information gathering I was relieved it was not "bandit" jump gone bad. Thoughts and prayers go out to the individual who's life was lost and to his family. JM
  17. I went through e-bay, used the buy it option for a new camera. Paid $850 delivered. Got the camera, filters, tripod, bag, 3 tapes, a 4.5x wide angle lens(which is on loan to a buddy already), a tele-photo lens and a step up ring. The seller was priceitwholesale. Had it in about 6 business days. JM
  18. It takes me 25 minutes, 30 if I stop at McDonalds for breakfast!! JM
  19. You must be talking about me! I'll have to show you my photo album sometime. JM
  20. email Unstable from Kansas State. he's looking for teammates. I was one of his instructors. He's a good flyer with almost 200 jumps. JM
  21. WORKIE, WORKIE, I CALLED THE DZ ONLY TWICE. JM
  22. Learn ASAP! It'll be one more thing you can be proud of! So when wuffo's ask you if you pack your our chute, you can say YES!!!!! JM
  23. I have two stories one short , one long. I was in the landing area radioing a student one time when his ripcord with a metal handle came falling from the sky landing just a few feet away from me..... I use to have a habit of taking off my altimeter, gloves and leather hat(back in the day) after a jump and throwing them down on top of my canopy after a jump. Well, one time when I was gearing up for a jump I couldn't find my leather hat. I had my suspicions that I may have packed up it up so I told my jump buddies to look out for it on opening. Sure shit, there it came out on deployment. Luckily, it didn't land in the corn..... But once again gearing up for some other jump I couldn't find my altimeter. Knowing that it wouldn't fair as well from an impact with the earth as my leather hat I had to dump that pack job to see if I could locate it. After a couple of minutes feeling up my canopy it turned up. Moral of the story.....DON'T THROW YOUR STUFF DOWN ON YOUR UNPACKED MAIN!!! JM
