OMG....we were screwing around with freepacking. My FIRST square jump, on a brand new rig...freepacked 7-cell Unit. Turned into my first malfunction, first cutaway, and first reserve ride. Immedeately put the bag back on it, no issues after that.

Got mine in 1978. FB 742. No pics though.

But I LIKE this kind of "thing"!

Mr. Douglas DC-3 getting back in the air???
RV8 replied to BillyVance's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Mr. D has been restored and is currently flying again at Deland, FL. -
My first square was a 7-cell 200 sq ft Unit. Soft but clean openings, no bad qualities, and super soft landings. Next one was a Django Firefly...168 sg ft 7-cell F-111. FAST openings, quick, crisp toggle response but landings were a little fast in no wind. At the time, it was the smallest 7-cell made, and I weighed 140 pounds at the time. It was a hot rod.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I was digging through some old issues of Parachutist, and saw a 4-way team called Bearded Clam Diggers. There was a Crw team called Four Skins.

FB 742 checking in. Got mine in 1978 at Newark, IL, just down the road a bit from Sandwich, IL. Jumped at Sandwich with Roger every so often, and I hauled jumpers for him in 87/88. Had a lot of fun...good times! -
Glad to see it flying again....had a lot of fun jumping it when it was in Sandwich, IL and at the FBC.
