skydive oregon ALL OF THE ABOVE BOOGIE from this past weekend -
this mxv is great. it fits like a motorcycle helmet. very soft interior and light. i don't know anyone with a cookie but i wanted an easier setup than my current helmet. it required tools and time to get on and off. a real pain to look at in the middle of the day or fire wire to someone else. i ordered a box first for my old helmet. it didn't fit. so, i sold the helmet and tried my luck with cookie. jeremy gave me a 10% discount on the helmet and free shirt (free advertisement for them)for my hassel. i ended up getting the whole setup. i don't regret any of it. it is a little more expensive than the rest, but well worth it. i was a using a kenko .45 lens before. never again. the liquid .3 is great. nothing sticks out of the box. try to order it all at once. shipping is expensive. i had to pay for the box to ship on its own. then the helmet, lens, and cameye. then, today, i had to send the chin cup back for a more padded one. it ships real fast though. i had the box in 3 days, the helmet in 5 (they had to put it together) and then the replacement chin cup in 3 days. i will compare all other equipment to cookie compoosites. the best i've had. i have 2 friends that are ordering because i was the guiness pig.

brian, i agree. there won't be another box with this helmet. i'm probably just going to send it back to cookie. my set up that i have now works fine. it's just a pain to deal with in the middle of the jump day. thanks for everyone's input, marty

ahhh haa. that makes a lot more sense. thanks for the pics. the same problem still remains. i can't get to the flat portion of the outside of the helmet from the inside. thanks for the reply's marty
-
yeah, the picture doesn't really help me describe the problem with the interior of the helmet. let's try this one. the flat side of the helmet slopes back at the rear of the helmet. on the interior, it is rounded for comfort while wearing. the interior of the helmet is made of the carbonfiber looking material. they placed a patch (permenant) over the access to the bolts. i can't get to them from the inside without tearing the helmet apart. i'm not familiar with the type of bolts you're talking about. could you describe them a little for me. this is getting to be a way bigger deal than i anticipated. this box might be getting sold soon.
-
thanks brian that would be great. my old bracket is taller than the cookie box. so, i could use only the top 2 or bottom one. i really would like to avoid longer bolts. my lining isn't very thick. that would make for a long day of jumping with bolts in my head. thanks again, marty
-
it looks like they made a patch with the helmet material to make the curve in side the helmet.
-
i got the box today. as i said in the 1st post, i have an arrow dynamics helmet. it doesn't fit. i can't get to the flat portion of the side on the inside of the the helmet to mount the box. suggestions.
-
thanks guys!! i'm ordering one today marty

is the lens hole a descent size for the wide angle to come out? i have a kenko lens that isn't huge, but it might not fit out the front. sorry, for all the questions but cookie has yet to answer my emails.
-
brian, can you access the back of the camera like normal to turn it on and off?
-
i have an arrow dynamics helmet camera with a pc 105. i bought the C bracket when i got the helmet. it works great but this thing takes tools to get the camera on and off. huge pain at the end of the day to firewire video or look at one jump in the middle of the day. does anyone have a cookie composites dbox or bonehead dbox that works well. or any other box that takes less than 4-5 min to get on and off. looking for opinions on what you have that works well and not bulky on the inside that might cause the camera to vibrate when jumped. thanks marty

QuoteI think an hour or two done over the course of a few days would be most helpful. _________________________________________________ is that what you did? how did it help you specifically?

paul and jp, thanks for the response. i understand what you mean by not confusing the tunnel with the air. they are definitely 2 different animals. but, any gain in the tunnel will be gain in the air. i spoke again with my friend who was dissappointed about his tunnel tunnel expierence yesterday. apparently, him and his friend were led to believe that would "turn a corner" and really progress in their jump and tunnel time in AZ. they did make progress just not as much as they were "sold" on. he reinforced what jp said about making use of all your body parts for movement and translated well in the air. thanks again for your responses. jp i look forward to meeting you next month. i will probably contact you once i get more solid on the dates. marty

i heard that they use the backfly stablity for the recovery position in sit. i've heard that it can take up to 45 min just to back fly. do you know the next few steps after that. i also saw from your profile that you have 5 hrs in the tunnel. is that mainly RW or FF? if it is FF how long has it taking you to accomplish goals that you have set?

i'm looking at visiting a freind in CO next month. i was excited to see the tunnel opening there. i was looking to get some freefly coaching. here's my delima (spelling). i have another friend that is a very good freeflyer who went to the tunnel in AZ last month. he said it wasn't worth the $. he had bought an hr and pretty much considered that a waste of time and money. he strongly recommended that i not do it. so, here's the question. is it worth it to me? i have over 200 hundred jumps, mostly freefly. i have no problem with sit, stand, transitions, or docks. in the air that is. i know it's different in the tunnel. but how is it different? i'm looking to refine my sit and get a good base for learning head down (stable) this year. i have no real controlled head down time. will this help because i have no bad habits or hurt because i have no base to start from? is it that the other guy knows how to freefly in the air real well and those same body positions don't work in the tunnel and frustrated him? i know that is a question for him, but is this common for flyers with no tunnel time? also, if any tunnel instructors (especially CO) could give me a run down of the steps to get to head down ( i know it's all subject to the flyer) and average time required, that would be greatly appreciated. thanks for the help marty
