  5. My vote would go to BevSuits ... I am onto my 2nd one and it's great, i sold my old one to a eager up and coming 4-Way jumper ... he was stoked. BevSuits have a great fit, and the booties (mega option) work wonders. [/url]www.bevsuit.com PM me if you want more info on them. 10. Thanks for all the replies and head-up on this. Clears up so concerns I have had about them. We have a few jumpers here using the removable slider system, mostly on sub100 canopies. Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.
  11. Thanks, found some ref to a bunch of chats on dz.com about it. Peej - your a ledgend Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.
  12. What are the thoughts on taking a removable slider (not a RDS system) to terminal on a regular basis? Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.
  13. Never refused a student, and never convinced a refussing student they should or are gonna jump. Worked in NorCal last season and the DZ was very supportive and the staff dealing with the bookings were top notch, we very seldom had to turn a student away. My only "maybe" came from a lady doing a tandem on the 74th B-Day, told her she had to be able to keep her legs up without assistance, she did a good job on the ground. While under canopy I asked her to show me what she would to with her legs on landing, and she ended up in an almost pike position, turns out she's a yoga instructor at her community hall, and has been for the last 30yrs. Size and weight are never an issue for me, but fitness and ability and attitude are. Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.
  14. My student is ready to skydive when the walk to the plane, and ready to skydive when they at 1000ft or 11 000ft. We jusp a Porter, and I sit behind the pilot, and have my student straddle the bench like me, the bottom connectors are clipped, and a full gear check is done at 100ft, including the student harness. At about 9000ft (we jump from 11000ft) I get the hook up started, and the only thing I adjust again in the MLW and double check the whole system again. And then run the skydive again with my student, at the 2 minute call I get the goggles on the student, and go have fun. This past weekend, I turned the whole day, and most often than not my student walked to the aircraft with the camera flyers, while I waited for the rig to be packed, I pack my own drogue. And the student does not climb into the aircraft until I have done a once over on the harness. My diagonal laterals are tight along with the butt band, it's a thing that I was taught by both Bill Booth and Egon Sussman while in FL last year getting my rating. 15. My DZ is 5000ft above sea level, so on an avergae day like this wekend, the speed on my tnadems is in the region of 130mph (TAS on my Protrack). To answer the question, yes a TM uses the drougue as a speed reduction device, to lessen opening shock on the main. It is also used as a stability device, so once the pair have exited and are stable (within 12 sec) the drougue is set, and the pair fall in drogue fall. And as it is a basic "pilot-chute-in-tow" the drouge is also used to activate the main deployment. Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.

  17. Just to clear a few things up, the Female Open Competition was an on year for South Africa, requested by both teams (corrections if incorrect). Due to some slight weather issues, and members of both temas jumping in various 4-Way and 8-Way events the competition had only goten to round 7 before the last day, Team PUG requested that the event be taken to all 10 rounds, and the meet directot agreed and the competition was completed on the weather day, the other team did not jump in protest over the desision, and thus scored 0 on the rounds. This was not a last minute decision, PUG had requested all 10 rounds before the competition had started. Well done to the PUG girls for the win, and looking fwd to seeing your results in Germany. PS. 22. As I reach back for the golf ball (drouge relaese) I hold the passangers forhead, main reason being the FAT LIP I had while working in NorCal this summer, from a less than perfect opening. Thanks Doc Last thing i want is to be knocked out or have a busted nose from a head butt .... it also makes sure that if we have a harder opening than expected there is less whip lash. I then return my hands and arms to a position just below the toggles, so i can relaease them and make sure we have a 100% flying canopy Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.
  23. Did 477 jumps in 5 months while in the US, total for the year was around 550. Did just over 400 Tandems, and then some 4-Way and *-Way at US Nationals. Was a good year, only had three tandem mals and one sports mal Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.
  24. being a newish TM with just over 400 tandems in the last 6 months, I have seen it all .. and am sure I am to see alot more. If your working with a TM and want to try something new, exit, fly-in, dock etc ... give the TM a run down of whats gonna happen, l;ast thing I want out the door is a surprise. I knwo TM's who dont allow docking, want a cmaera flyer to surf the exit, or some TM;s do a specific exit, and know the best way to get the shot ... While in Cali @ SkyDance I worked with a few amazing camera flyers, kieran, Pete Galli, Kerby, Kim, Nick etc ... all of whom worked with me, and kept me in the loop as to their plan. Other than that go have fun, watch out for the drouge ;-) Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.
