Side Mounted Cameras - moved from S&T

Hey Pyke, I am by no means a pro camera flyer. I only have about 70 camera jumps. But I have learned that a slight turn of your head is a good habit to get into. My first couple of jumps I felt the risers and started turning my head a little cured that problem. Last week I joined a 10 way, everything went great, I turned and tracked away, through out my pilot chute and thought my head was being removed from my body.(Not a good feeling)The first thing I did was to make sure my head and helmet were still there.I have a X-jacket, witch stick out quite a bit.Anyway I got on the ground, and the X-jacket and my camera were about to fall off my helmet. I am going to try an L-bracket. The more experenced camera jumpers tell me that that half inch makes a world of difference. Just my 2 cents, Blue Skies and play safe! Freefalljunky -
I just started flying a camera. I have a JVC DVM70U. I mounted it in a X-Jacket on a Bonehead. My main consern was openning shock, due to the extra weight, but I hardly even notice it is there. I was going to just get a L-bracket, but 90 percent of my jumps are out of a C182. And not being used to jumping with a camera I was afraid I'd beat the heck out of it. So far so good! Good luck & Blue skies Tracy

Hi Pammi, My anniversary is also durring Quincy. My wife is not a jumper. And as I've been told many times before, skydiving is not a spectator sport. Allthough she does come out to the dz every now and again. The deal is, Quincy this year, and Jamaica next year. So I was hoping there was a dz there. See ya, Tracy

Hey People, Do any of you know if there is a DZ in Jamaica? My wife and I went there on our honeymoon four years ago, but that was before I started skydiving. We plan on going again next year, and I can't seem to find anything about a Jamaican DZ on the web. Man, would that be a sight in freefall!!! Blue Skies, Tracy
