That's Great!!!

When I did my AFF, I was pretty scared for the first 7 or 8 jumps. I was "potato chipping"(wobbling) & that was from not arching correctly. On that 8th or 9th jump, I went into a real nice super smooth stable fall & all of a sudden it "clicked." Ah... this is what it's all about. My instructor must have seen it in my eyes because when I looked over at him, he had a big grin & was giving me two thumbs up. He knew what I had just experienced. That was the moment for me of understanding why people jump.

I guess it might depend on how many vertebrae are fused. I had a lower back fusion L3,4,5 long ago & it hasn't created any problems for me. As others have said, the correct canopy will go a long way...

It's useless info they are providing for you. I learned on a Mac, went to PC & have returned to Mac. I have the iMac with the 20" screen. It's great! period. You sound like you want an easy to use system that is hassle free. That's an iMac. I have been part of a PC club in the past & even individuals who do their own programming recognize the simplicity of owning a Mac. You'll be happy with the Mac.

You're in good hands in the IAF program at the Ranch. I think doing 2-3 jumps a day is a good idea to build on what you are learning on each jump. Try to stay consistent. I think it will help you with the flow of the program. As a student, check the weather link on the Ranch's homepage. The Ranch seems to have it's own little weather pattern which can be better or worse than it may be wherever you may happen to be, whether you're 20 miles away or 50 miles away... or 5 miles away for that matter. Post: Is it a major shock that people will exhaust their financial resources no matter how much they make? Of course the 250k group may not be "rich", but they have more options to sacrifice than households making 40k. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I agree... 40k didn't get you far in 1990 & even less so nowadays. Housing, food, transportation, insurance, utilities, & other basics have risen dramatically, while salaries have remained stagnant. The mindset of some people that I know who make anywhere from 200k to tens of millions of dollars per year is that "everyone lives like they do". I don't know how or why they can think this way, but they do. This is also a group that considers & treats "inconveniences" as emergencies.

In general, I would vote for recommended, except in the case of instruction. I think students should be required to wear helmets, whether you're skiing, doing AFF, learning to ride a motorcycle or whatever. Once you've been exposed & informed of the basic hazards, you can make your own choice. I once saw a sky surfer go out of an otter by doing a little side hop out of the door in basically an upright crouching position. He chose to bend his head over & look down facing into the aircraft. His hair pretty much brushed the bottom of the door. A few of us looked at each other with that "wow, that was close look". If he hit his head, I don't see how it would have not knocked him unconscious.

Yes her credit card company will help her out, but that's not the point. The point is she was scammed. She paid to skydive in CT and was then sent to Albany & would not be refunded her money. The dropzones that they send people to have no records of said customer because they do not do business with Thrillplanet, Skyride or any other name. In case you are unaware, they also sell hot air balloon rides, rock climbs, white water rafting, etc..

DougH I talked to Susan on the phone. She got the website address, www.connecticutskydiving.com off of a van in the Hartford area. She would like people to report the van to the attorney general's office if it's spotted. She said that I could post her email address because she would appreciate any help that anyone could offer. I'm not sure if that's the best thing to do. Does anyone have any feedback on that note. She also said there is additional information on complaint.com regarding their(Thrillplanet,SkyRide, etc.) problems.

DougH I saw kallends post & I also live in CT. I was able to contact Susan through email. Dick Blumenthal saw the story on wfsb and is already contacting other attorney generals. If there is any info to support the case or anything that will help, I'm sure Susan will appreciate getting that info to Blumenthat's office. He's good at getting things done. Maybe he can help somehow.

I don't know how far the ride is for you, but I did my aff at Skydive New England and they were great. You should at least check it out, and make a jump out of the otter. Have Fun
