Any registered jumpers that are attending the GoFast Royal Gorge Games are invited to compete in the climbing event as well. The climbing event will take place on a 1000 ft bolted route that climbs the canyon wall and ends at the bridge. The route is already equipped with draws and has rap and water stations along the way. All you need to bring is a harness, shoes and a chalk bag! The route itself is fully bolted and tops out at 5.9+ to 5.10- on AMAZING rock, you'll see it and need to climb it! The climb will only be open during the Gorge Games Event - don't miss out! If you're interested please PM me and I'll send you the details. Yes darlin, I live in Boulder Colorado, have been climbing HARD for 22 years and started BASE jumping in 97'. Climbing and BASE are two great tastes that taste great together. I hate to say it, but rock gyms are a great place to meet other climbers in yer area and stay strong in the crappy months. (The gym in yer area is the Niagra Climbing Center-(716)695-1248 or www.niagraclimbingcenter.com). Many great climb and jump possibilities are available in the Moab area and elswhere. And I haven't been to Europe, but I think general climbing skills are learned and used by way more Euros than Americans. Being able to appreciate the rock as a whole, the ascent as well as the descent is a very worthy goal indeed. All I hear about is, I wanna wingsuit, I wanna wingsuit. You have a unique angle. As a climber 1st, BASE jumper 2nd kinda guy, yer post got me jazzed. E-Mail me in private and I'll tell you some secrets that will motivate you even more. Best of luck!!!! Hank Caylor.... Not knowing Felix or his, badassed?, stunts?, as well as some, I can very much attest to this. I am a big GoFast person, BUT. I have to say, with some authority, that Red Bull treats it's atheletes well! (I've heard of them even bailing thier BASE jumpers out of jail!!!). The number of BASE ventures they have funded will never compare with the tiny number, some of you folks, find out and gripe about. GoFast, RedBull, Fucking Gatorade, I don't care. It takes some direct cash to pull off a modern, post 911, BASE event. "B-Day", "RGB-Day, Malaysia and many other cutting edge events. All I'm saying is, let's not get some kickass -BASE Event/Athlete sponsors-, and the individual jumpers get too mixed up for the individual jumpers botched info and hype. I agree with Drew, My Warlock is the easiest to pack of any container I've owned, Velcro/pin/Wonderhawg with a Pursuit 215. With a neat packjob, you shouldn't need the pullup cord or have similar velcro problems....Hank Caylor "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"

Here are some recent facts concerning K2, the wicked mountain in the Himalaya. Total # of ascents since 1954- 198 # of climbers to summit, and then die on the descent- 22(including BASE #44 Rob Slater) Total deaths- 53 # of bodies still on the mountain-49 Kind of a gruesome quest, IMHO... Sign up another BASE Jumper that thinks Bull Riding is WWAAAAaaaayyyy more insane than BASE. Those guys shatter more bones than anyone, and then cut off the cast 2 weeks early and jump right back on. Hank..... "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"

He actually passed away the day after the jump off The Troll Wall for the Wide World of Sports Special. The Chief Coordinator and Videographer for that jump was a Yosemite climbing legend named John Long. John has many books out, but he details the preparations, Carl and Jeans anxiety as well as his own, the practice jump and then the actual World Record(at that time) jump in his book "Gorilla Monsoon". If you want a freaky wicked, old school BASE story about Carl and Jeans last jump together and then Carls final jump, get it and hang on. Very big congrats to both yall'. Do your BASE career a favor and spend more time in Moab than TF. Just a suggestion. Unless yer lookin to pad the #'s, then TF it is. Hank Caylor BASE#637 "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"

This might be a little bit of a rambling message, but oh well. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to any BASE jumper that has ANY kind of Emergency Training-AT ALL!!. I have only been into BASE since 97', but I have been a climber, climbing guide and instructor for 22 years, so being able to self-rescue your friend or yourself(if possible) is kind of bred into me. After spending the weekend at Twin Falls this weekend, I think that some BASE Jumpers are really getting the hang of things. 1. Don had 3 boats working all 4 days long, and as we came to find out, EACH boat had a full medical kit and at least 2 backboards per boat!!! 2. A few(3 or so jumpers), had wicked hard landings that needed to be hospitalized(sounds like BASE Jumping doesn't it)? 3. In my limited BASE thing, I've seen so many examples of Jumpers on vacation, that also happen to be in the medical field, step up and do what they can to keep injured jumpers, as well as expenses(for the jumper and the EMS) to a minimum. 4. During the Memorial Day Weekend, it is a very busy time for the Emergency Medical Services,(cops, firemen, paramedics) and is not an optimal time to call in a helicopter for something that is far from life threatening. Between the Potato Bridge events, Frozen Pizza Cliff IPBCA comps, Bridge Day (E,C,B's), Big ol' Colorado B, and the Turkey Booogie over the last 7 or 8 years, nice work to all ER/BASE jumpers. A handy backboard, a C-collar and a little training can really help the sports image out sometimes, LIKE YOU CAN'T Believe!!! They say, "Any jump you walk away from was a successful jump". I walked away but I think it was far from successful!?. "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"

I jumped from the 40th floor and had a violent 180'. I crashed through both 3/4" plate glass windows($5,000) on the 21st floor, and then escaped, but was forced to turn myself in due to massive blood loss. "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"

Just for the record. I just mailed my final $400.00 payment to the Embassy Suites Hotel for the BASE jump turned nightmare 3 years ago. The deal was. $200.00 a month for 2 years with the final payment being $400.00, making the total for the windows alone $5,000.00. If you throw in missed work, multiple motions hearings, a 4 day jury trial and Lawyer fees it's around $10,000.00, total. Careful out there kiddies, most of those groovy buildings have TEAMS of lawyers to protect the poor buildings rights.
