I've seen Avery and Dwayne Weston with 6 complete rigs at different periods in thier lives. Dwayne will actually try to convince you that 6 rigs is a pain in the ass to own, because of packing. Whatever dude! "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"

Look around in your life. You HAVE stuff, stuff you don't use. Everybody that has enough skydiving experience to want to consider BASE, needs to look around and take stock. Kayaks, Mountain Bikes, Climbing gear, Scuba diving crap, more than one skydiving canopy, YOUR COMPUTER, when sold, will make a fine down payment on a new BASE rig. If you really want it, a new BASE rig is the same price as one third of a new skydiving rig. Have a yard sale, buy a rig, best of luck! That's right Jason, Fire Fighters and that ilk are adrenaline junkies just like us. I guarantee you, getting on TV and rescuing a BASE jumper is the most fun those folks have had all year. I bet they even had a fist fight over who got to be the lucky dog who got to slide down the wire and be the first person to say hello! The media can go jump off a bridge, oh wait, that'd be to much fun.. "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"

Sweet thread BASEclimb, action packed with tons of useful info... "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"

Being a pretty standup BASE jumper, yet having struck 2 of the 4 objects(cliff&building) in my first 200 jumps, my question is this. Has anyone ever struck all 4? I know of one person who has hit an antenna, but what about a bridge. Just morbid curiosity, I know, but here is the thread that will let the folks that have had the misfortune of smackin' objects come clean and maybe we can learn a thing or two. Yes Mike, it is I, Paulys ex-lover from Texas, friend to all from North&South Crackalaky!(and Atlanta). Me and the lady are planning a trip in the Carolinas as soon as we can manage and will let ya know. Goin to the hole in Mexico in November, so scheduling is tricky. Of all my jumps, 150 are in Moab, so 1400' A's sounds insane to me. As well, if yer ever in CO, pleeeze give a call and we can get low again ya' big altitude freak. NO LIGHTNING ON TOWERS FOR ANYONE!!!! i think. "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"

All the BASEheads from North and South Crackalacky have been aaalllllright in my book!!! "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"

Yeah man, I've got 190 BASE jumps, I used to stack towers for a living and now I'm an Licensed Electrician. Most larger towers (bigger than 500') have too much sensitive electronics in the building at the bottom not to have a lightning rod or suppressor of some type, HOWEVER, as an electrician I wouldn't be anywhere near the fucker if I thought it might get hit. 120 volts is bad, direct current from the source while climbing or sitting in the basket on a tower would get you on the cover of most newspapers. I don't know about your line burns, but I do know your jumping the finest flying canopy on earth. "It takes a big man to cry, it takes an even bigger man to make that big man cry"
