My wife has been working really hard at her newish job lately, and has been putting up with a lot of shit from her employer. Since it doesn't look like I'll be working today I've been doing some housework, nothing too big just finishing up the laundry, running the vacuum etc. I thought it'd be a nice gesture to make her something special for dinner for when she gets home. Only problem is I'm not really good in the kitchen. What I need is some ideas of something I could make that is kind of special but that I can pull of with limited kitchen skills. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

My new dog just got stuck in the deck . We just rescued this dog, an 8 yr old retriever mix. We already had 2, an English Bulldog and a mini schnauzer. Well the bulldog and the schnauzer are small enough they come up the side of the deck and go under the railing to got to the door, well the tall dog tried it for the first time today and got stuck LOL. He was smart enough to back up and free himself, but the experesion he gave me through the door was priceless....damn I need a digital camera ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

That's what sucks for me. I'm not gonna have my gear till probly early May, so no off season practice for me. I'll be the guy at the DZ that gets 2 jumps a weekend cause I can't get my stuff packed up in time to make a 2nd load on Saturday. ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever -

The one thing I got out of highschool was from my highschool baseball coach. At the end of every practice he would tell us when the next practice or game was and always send us on our way with this quote...."If you can't be on time, be early" I live by this, I hate being late. As an example of what happens when people are late my wife works front desk in a motel. Her shift ends at 3. Her relief is constantly "a few minutes" late. By the time her relief gets clocked in and gets settled and they do their turn over from one shift to the other my wife doesn't get out of there until around 330. Well my kids get off the school bus at 345. By this person constantly being a few minutes late it makes my wife late getting home and puts my kids home by themselves for awhile. It pisses me off to no end. Bottom line is if you are supposed to be there at 8, be there ready to work at 8. ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

As some one that works for the railroad, I don't think the "push" mode is really an issue. I've seen trains hit cars and trucks with an engine in the lead and derail. If I remember right a truck pulled into the path of an Amtrak somewhere in Illinois a few years ago and derailed the whole train. I've also seen bigger heavier freight engines derail just by hitting a car. The problem is the morons we keep hitting, not the operation. As for turning the train around it's actually a pretty big production with lots of time involved and as stated before would probably drive riders away due to the delays. People just aren't patient enough to put up with the added time. The only feasable solution I see to the "push-pull" thing is putting an engine on each end. To do that the railroad would have to double the size of it's engine fleet at roughly 5 million an engine. Just to throw a number out there assume they have 100 engines (which is probably a really low number) That's 500 million dollars. The only way to stop these kinds of tragedies is education and grade separation. But grade separation is cost prohibitive as well. ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

I just wave to random people. If my wife is with me she's like "Who was that?" I tell her I don't know, so she asks "Why did you wave?" I tell her I waved so the couple in the other car can have the exact same conversation we are ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

Well I've done my good deed for the day. The clerk at the 7-11 rescued a dog from an abusive home a couple of months ago. She found that the dog tends to wander and she already had 5 other dogs. So she asked me if we'd be interested in a dog since I have a fenced in yard. Asked the wife about it and she wanted to meet the dog and see how he interacted with the two we already have. Well, after a few tense minutes of our Bulldog pushing him around they all mellowed out. So we are gonna give him a shot. He's an 8 yr old lab mix, he's been nuetered and is SUPER mellow. So we now have an English bulldog, a mini schnauzer, and the lab mix. He's a little bigger than we are used to and a lot hairier, but so far I think he likes it here

"Getting the canopy into the d-bag" question
JustaBill replied to Winznut's topic in Gear and Rigging
Take into account that I am very new, but during my packing class I was taught to put the D-bag around the canopy, not the canopy in the D-bag. ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever -

So thats what it feels like to donate two units of blood at once.
JustaBill replied to Viking's topic in The Bonfire
Next time I donate I'll be sure to ask them what my level is, and ask my doctor about it. Thanks Wendy, Of course I donate fairly regularly already, usually not right on the day, but within a couple of weeks, depends on work. ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever -

They are saying it's a Pilatus PC12 plane that took off from South Bend airport. Almost immediately he reported engine trouble and decided he couldn't make it back to the airport so he set it down on one of the busiest roads in South Bend. No automobiles involved. Only damage is he clipped a utility pole and sheared off part of the right wing. ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever
