Don't know much yet, but what looks to be a private plane landed on a highway in South Bend In today. They are speculating engine trouble. Looks like the pilot did a hell of a job, no injuries reported at the moment. ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

Has anyone tried jumping because they know you?
JustaBill replied to Airman1270's topic in The Bonfire
My sister went as a direct result of me. I called her up one day and asked "Do you wanna jump out of a plane?" We did 1 static line together, and also our 2 tandems. She plans to continue with AFP when finances are a little better. We went in together and bought my cousin a tandem for her highschool graduation and now she works in the video concession at the dropzone saving money for her AFP. And I've had a few coworkers do tandems after talking to me, and the whole first shift of the local 7-11 say they want to do tandems this spring, but we'll see if they stick to that. ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever -
thought I would bump this up. I just found out that I get a discount on Nextel through work. I see that a lot of this thread is negative. I'm wondering if they have gotten better in the year since this thread or what other users can add. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

it would still freak me out I know on my train I don't like stopping if there is something moving next to me. Messes with the sensation of how fast I'm actually going ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

That's a cool pic, not sure I'd want to be a passenger in either of the planes though. Would be really wierd to have a plane landing next to yours like that ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

I'm terrible at going to the doctor. I have to be almost dead, or at least wishing I was before I'll go. Matter of fact last time I went my wife had to drive because I let it go long enough that I was too sick to drive ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

I've thought about it, but I rely on the phone to go to work. If for some reason I don't get a signal in the house or forget to recharge my cell I could easily miss a call for work. Once I retire (in 30 freakin years) the first thing I'm gonna do is rip the phone out of the wall. No more late nite calls for me

The questions you are asked....
JustaBill replied to jumper03's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You shouldn't realize it didn't work. It's up to you to save your own life. It's not something you wait around for. It's the same way with an RSL, chop your main and pull your reserve, don't wait to see if the RSL is gonna do it for you. ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever -
Did you tell them they have their holidays screwed up. April Fool's Day is in the spring ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

I was at the Red Cross today giving my usual pint of blood. The girls there know I skydive so they asked about it. I mentioned my less than graceful landing last time. Got asked the usual "Did you get hurt?" questions, then one of the girls asked "What would you have done if you had broken your leg?" The best answer I could come up with was "I'd lay there until the ambulance showed up" What kind of answer was she looking for. I figure I'd do the same thing in that situation as I would if I was crossing the street and got hit by a truck. Lay there and wait till an ambulance showed up. ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

I just don't see how it happens: if you're conscious, and not whacked out of your mind, how can you not avoid being on the tracks when the train's anywhere nearby?? From someone that's seen it up close I know how it happens. People are in too big of a fucking hurry. I've watched countless people stop at the downed gates, wait for me to get closer then decide to go around the gates. You have no idea how helpless you feel up there in the cab of that engine. All you can do is lay on the horn and hope they are quick enough. The ones that really piss me off are the soccer moms in mini vans full of kids that do it. I've heard from engineers that kids in the van were waving at them as the train hit. Shit like that will fuck a guy up for a long time. Sorry for the rant guys but from someone that runs the trains I feel pretty strongly on this subject. ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

This reminds me of something. A signal tower operator is at work and the big boss shows up. Tells the signalman he has a test for him. Tells him there is a runaway coming at 80 mph and is gonna hit a passenger train headon. What's he gonna do. The signal man says he'd pull the lever and throw the switch. Boss says "when you do that the cable breaks, now what" Signal man says he'd go throw it by hand. Boss says the switch is locked and he doesn't have a key. Decides he'd go to the shed and get a hammer and break the lock. The shed is locked the boss says and hurry up those trains are getting closer by the minute. Signal man thinks for a second and says he'd call his wife. The boss explodes at that response "What can she possibly do to help you" The signal man says "Nothin but I'd tell her to bring the camera cause there is gonna be the damnedest train wreck you've ever seen"

I thought the Blues were in St Louis, but given the current state of the NHL I doubt they will be around in January ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

:1:0 Went out to ISA today and got 1 really cool, and slightly cold jump in. Did a 3 way that two of us on the dive had a total of 66 jumps between us. We absolutely nailed the exit which was a great feeling

How come nothing like that ever happens to my train ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

I agree with the shotgun comments. Much more effective and on top of that there is no sound in the world like a pump action shotgun being cocked. If you hear that sound in a dark apartment and aren't holding the gun, you know your night just got really bad. ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

Just curious if they have any tentative dates for the World Free Fall Convention or Summerfest at SDC. I have to put in my vacation request by the end of the month and want to take vacation for one or the other. Any help would be appreciated. ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

My sister borrowed my truck and locked the keys in it. Then broke the door trying to jimmy the lock. To her credit she did take the truck in and get the door fixed and the warranty covered it, which kind of shocked me. So for her birthday I buy one of those little plastic boxes to hold a spare key, take the magnets out of it and put it on a piece of string so she could wear it as a necklace. She ended up throwing it at me ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

Just thought I'd bump this up to see if anyone had anything new about this DZ. Might be worth the trip next spring if I hear good things ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

If you had your choice which would you go see? They are both going to be close in the next couple months and the wife talked about getting tickets to one of them for my birthday. I like them both so which one puts on a better show? ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

Started on a Sabre2 230 loaded at .91. Did 6 or 7 on that one. Went to a Sabre2 210 loaded at 1 to 1. Did 8 on that one I think. Then on S&TA and chief instructor advice I went to a Sabre2 190 loaded at 1.1 to 1 and have been that since, with the occasional 210 or 288 jump if I'm at a small DZ with not many choices for rental gear. When I finally buy my own stuff I'll be looking for something in the 210-190 range ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever
