Went out on a stag night friday and got pickled so wrote saturday off as a jump day as feeling rough(although weather good). Abstained from peer pressure to go out last night and weather average today but had to watch everyone else jump all day except me. Ive done 2 x 20 s delays and was briefed for turns today but random high wind and low cloud base around 4/5k all day when jumping at 7k. Not made bad progress as did 1st S/L in june and have done 14 jumps. turns, unstable exit, dive exit and cat-8 jump to go. I wanna get this cat-8 argghh and i think i got clocked for speeding on the way there PS Sorry..no real point to this thread just having a rant...

Recent Book - Jumping Through Clouds
richardd replied to peek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
slightly off the subject i cannot seem to find any decent books on the sport. Amazon offers few. I did buy the 'freefall' biograghy by tom read and the the skydivers handbook. Any links or pointers appreciated!! Cheers -
Where can i get a cool skydiving car sticker. Ive searched the web but not found anything that good. Nothing too tacky required. Sorry if this is trivial!!! R

I am currently nearing cat-8 at 14 jumps. I do a lot of weight trainng and i have been well over 16 stone. Altough i can keep it in check quite easily i currently am just under 16 stone. Is this likely to hinder my skdyive career in terms of rigs available, future downsizing etc.. I am currently jumping 280s as a student. What would be a sensible rig/size for my first rig taking my weight into account? Regards Rich

I am new to skydiving and have done 14 jumps rapidly approaching my cat-8 A licence. I have found what seems a large number of posts concerning injury and fatalities. I would like to take something constructive from these discussions but often opinions vary. I appreciate my JM is keeping it simple for me in terms of emergency drills but do feel a bit daunted by my lack of knowledge on what is probably the most important few seconds of my life. That aside i am clear and confident about my drills based on what i have been taught. I suppose im looking for reassurance skydiving can be done safely with limited experience. Sorry. Rant over. Rich

Thanks, this looks like the right idea. Approx £85 + for Gold Cover for Office based employment. A very easy to use web site. Anyone used these or got any objective criticism? Thanks

Thanks. Will give Columbus a ring initally. £100 a year sounds a sensible price and would give me some peace of mind. I cant guarantee i wont ride any camels though especially after a few cheeky beers.

You are quite right. Most jumpers pull around the 3000ft mark. This 20 second delay for me was a lesson in altitude arwareness. Its was the first time id worn a wrist alti. So perhaps its a safety issue. I was told to count to 18000, if i was altitude aware then pull on 4500 - if not on 18000,reach-thousand, pull thousand. Im new to all this so hope it makes sense. Dont mind pulling higher though as only done 13 jumps. It was at 6000 on 18 secs. Rich

I live in the uk and am fairly new to skydiving. I should be getting my A licence very soon. Something i have started to think about is PI and equipment insurance. I hope im not repeating old threads too much but can anyone give me an idea about the done thing, costs, pros and cons amd your opinions on value for money etc. Regards Rich

Beer rules, no problem. Im well up on that unless there are any new DZ rules that im not aware of!! Is it common to have to buy the beers if you land over the beer line. Seems the done thing at langar!

Im not sure how many do static lines and how many do AFF's. Is there anything i might lose out on via the RAPS statics line methods. Anyway, thanks and look forward to using this site.

I did my first static line in june and have now completed 14 jumps and did 2x20 seond delays last saturday. Awesome
