It's great isn't it. Us Brits are so much safer since Tony fucking Blair decided to wedge his tongue firmly up Bush's backside and help with the invasion of Iraq. I think this particular little performance has been laid on for the benefit of Mr Howard, the Australian prime minister who is currently visiting the idiot Blair. Australia will be the next member of the 'coalition of the moronic' to be hit by these kinds of retaliations in my opinion.

In the News: Brutal Deaths of Iraqii Civilians
crozby replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
In the last month 700 Iraqis have died, 70 US soldiers have died and shit-loads more people have been injured. Why are you bitching about the arabs? Why aren't you questioning the actions of your government who created this mess? -
What are your views on Japanese suicide bombers?
-
Cowardice is a lack of courage, or it is showing fear in the face of danger. It may be immoral and wrong to mingle amongst innocent civilians and blow yourself up, but it isn't cowardly. Suicide bombing seems far braver to me than say bombing people from 45,000ft or firing missiles at them from miles away. The Japanese also employed suicide submarine pilots that snuck up on allied shipping and detonated themselves - i don't think they felt they needed to display their credentials in order for it to be legit - dying for the emperor and for japan was considered noble whatever way it took place.
-
I don't understand why people use the word coward to describe suicide bombers - they may be a lot of things, but coward isn't one of them. In my view, there is little difference between Japanese suicide bombers and any other suicide bomber.

Controversial - aren't they yesteryears suicide bombers?

Allawi:Saddam sponsored the birth of Al Qaeda in Iraq
crozby replied to Gravitymaster's topic in Speakers Corner
There is plenty of evidence for all the points I made, but you choose to ignore it. Anyway, why do you hold me to a higher standard than your own President? You don't complain that he invaded a country without proof, yet you shout about it when I post some text on a forum on the internet. -

I'll bite, even though I'm not a liberal. This really is scraping the bottom of the barrel in the search for an acceptable justification for invading Iraq. Even if this were true it doesn't go anywhere near proving that SH had anything to do with 9/11, which was the bullshit Bush and Rice were peddling. If it is acceptable to invade a nation based on it allowing 'terrorists' onto its soil, what should be done to nations that go even further and supply cash and arms to them? However you want to spin it, the following are facts: 1. Bush & co mislead in an attempt to get support for the Iraq war, claiming we were in danger from WMD. 2. They didn't get the support from the UN. 3. They invaded anyway, like they were always going to do. 4. US inspectors confirmed there were no WMD after all. 5. The post invasion period has been an utter fuckup from the start. If you guys want to console yourselves with scraps of half-information from questionable sources like this then knock yourselves out. -
More on this in a report by the BBC concerning FBI documents made public by the human rights group American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU): http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4581383.stm

In the News: Brutal Deaths of Iraqii Civilians

I can only assume you are trying to highlight what a complete monkeys rectum the security situation is in Iraq. This is the direct result of the policy after the invasion to dispand the armed forces, the police and other important government departments and to allow looting and trashing of government buildings and public utilities. -
I don't believe that the lack of attacks is down to AQ getting their backsides spanked. It takes bugger all planning to do a suicide bombing - they take place several times a day in Iraq. The US government claims there are terrorist cells all over the states - how are they all being prevented from doing their stuff? Look at the facts: porous borders, lax security, no attacks since 9/11, lots of people arrested, nearly all of them subsequently released. Here in the UK a group called 'Fathers for Justice' got into the Parliament building and threw bags of flour at Tony Blair. Another time since then fox hunting supporters got into the parliament and shouted at politicians. It's just not that difficult to mount a terrorist attack, yet it simply hasn't happened. It's governments spreading FUD, that's all it is.

Parents who produce offspring like this should be sterilized and jailed.
-
So they've been delived from one kind of tyranny to another. How nice for them.
-
So the US government tells us there are terrorists everywhere - we are engaged in a War On Terrrr!!, yet despite the gaping holes in airport and border security there have been no attacks on US soil since 9/11, and despite the arrests of all those suspicious foreign-looking gentlement the highest profile arrest has been Richard the obviously dim Shoe-Bomber - there have been no significant prosecutions for planning or carrying out a terrorist attack. So where are all these terrorists? Are they on holiday? Are they busy doing something else? WTF? Seems like we are being bullshitted. Seems like our governments want us to be afraid when there isn't much at all to be afraid of.

In U.S. Report, Brutal Details of 2 Afghan Inmates' Deaths
crozby replied to Mikki_ZH's topic in Speakers Corner
Are you aware that the US govt sanctions the transportation of Gitmo residents to Afghanistan & other places for interrogation in order to circumnavigate American and international law? -
Actually there were 24,683,313 people in Iraq in 2003, quite a few less than that now. And they're not exactly free from tyranny by any stretch of the imagination. And even your own government has reported that the world is not a safer place now.

The situation is insane: On the one hand the American people seem to want to be seen as just and fair, on the other their government is using legal loopholes, lies and cover-ups to skirt the geneva convention so they can engage in deeply offensive immoral behaviour. -
I don't think that either is a "better" reason than the other. I think fighting for belief is more noble than fighting for money. There is something honorable about fighting to protect your nation and it's people, whereas there is nothing noble or honorable about being a mercinary IMO.

What's wrong with being <Country of parental/your origin>-American?
crozby replied to Newbie's topic in Speakers Corner
I think non-prefixed Americans feel that prefixed Americans are stating they are better than them. It's like they are saying "I'm more than just an ordinary American, I'm a British-American". Whereas, I suspect that most of the people who prefix are just trying to make themselves seem a little bit more unique and special than they really are. Which is totally harmless and we all do it. -
Clerics threaten holy war over alleged Quran desecrations
crozby replied to rhino's topic in Speakers Corner
Absolutely. The US government has donated up to 90 million dollars a year to the Uzbekistan regime and in return they get an air base there. They know full well that people have been boiled to death at the detention centres there. It was only when the human rights abuses were brought to the fore by other human rights groups that the US government scaled back their 'aid'. And there are other plenty of other instances of this kind of US foreign policy. Edit to add: Plenty of governments engage in shady foreign policy, this isn't a USA bash.
