    I heard that Iraqis are dying at a higher rate now than under SH. Give Bush some credit, he's only just got started with this war. He's managed over 10% of that in such a short time. How long did SH take to do his? Its kind of enlightening that you measure success in terms of slaughtering fewer people than SH did. Thats nice. Likewise with Iraqis. You can split hairs if you want to, but however you stack it your CIC is a Christian, America is a Christian nation and Christian US troops have killed thousands of Muslims.

    To answer your questions: No. But if your mother was able to work and simply decided not to then I would be unhappy that the government was forcing me to pay tax to fund her chosen lifestyle.

    The problem for governments is what they do with citizens who refuse to play by the rules and continue to have children that they cannot support. Do the kids get left to starve? Do they get taken away at more cost to the tax payer? What happens?

    I'm sorry to say that many people in the UK can relate to the Mirror headline even if they think the Mirror is a shit newspaper. We see images of Bush spouting Star Wars shit like "They are evil, we are good, good will prevail" and it seems pretty clear that if the message has to be put that simply then the audience must be very uneducated and/or very uninformed and/or very stupid. Your president speaks to adults like Sunday School teachers in the UK speak to young children. And you guys lap it up. Righty or wrongly that speaks volumes to us about the average Bush supporter.

    You make me laugh PJ. "Terrorists" couldn't give a fuck about harming people voting. Or didn't you notice all the polling stations that weren't attacked by terrorists on Tuesday. And even if one of these "terrorists" did decide to blow up your local polling station, how would you and your little gun stop them? Maybe if you were really quick on the draw you could shoot all the shrapnel out of the air before it tore everyone to bits.

    Is that the best connection to a terrorist organisation you can come up with? It is true that money is donated to the families of suicide bombers to compensate them for retribution by Israelis. Were you aware that for many decades US citizens have sent cash to fund the Irish Republican Army, an established terrorist organisation operating in Northern Ireland? Doesn't that make US citizens sponsors of terrorism by your definition?

    It really is happening - I can't get to the site except by the alternative https address and it's confirmed by the BBC. I can understand why they've done it - There must be tens of thousands of geeks worldwide spending time trying to break US government websites. It only takes a relatively small number of PCs with the appropriate software to mount a successful Denial Of Service attack. If someone in the US attacks it I presume they can be prosecuted but nothing can legally be done to stop attackers from outside the US.

    My wife is of the same personality type as yours. After many insane, circular, frustrating, childish, pointless, hurtful arguments I've come to the conclusion that I either love her for what she is, or I leave her, because this behaviour is built in to her personality and its not changeable. It's as the saying goes: You can't teach an old dog new tricks. ... not that my wife is an old dog.

    Well I agree with you - the examples you've quoted are fucking ridiculous. ASBOs should be issued in situations where people are causing a nuisance to their neighbours, not when they are commiting a crime. Hopefully the courts will be directed to stick to the original intent of ASBOs only.

    If handing out warnings has the same effect as fining motorists then they shouldn't fine them in the first place. Local governments turning minor breaches of the law into a source of revenue is simply wrong IMO. One of our London councils (Westminster) raised $73 million in parking fines alone last year.
