I quit already. I've only had power back for a little over a week and still don't have telephone. The dropzone has barely been up and running (Sebastian) and now...Jeanne which we thought should already be long gone and Lisa is still out there somewhere too.

hmmm... fuck buddies usually aren't ex's (in my opinon) they are usually never wases. The ones I have/had are usually really good friends (and still are) that either have or had privilages. Sometimes it was just a matter of there started to be sexual tension with a close friend and we decided to just get it over with so we can get on with being friends. exes are whole 'nother ball game. If they stir up shit they weren't really fuck buddies they were someone with an agenda pretending the buddy thing was all cool because they thought once you were with them awhile you'd fall madly in love and blah, blah, blah....

My friend races - they go off the bikes at speeds like that -sometimes. If they are layed over on their sides in the corners they can actually walk away with no damage which I find just mind boggling. However, your average dipshit on the street is going to end up looking like - well, a skydiver with a total! If he's lucky he'll be held together by all that protective clothing.

Kramer? I think we are all scared of you!

Which brings us to our second lesson, grasshopper... never, never post anything on dz.com and not expect to get ripped on!

November 11 - 14th! We have rooms held for skydivers at a discounted rate at both the Coconut Cay and the Holiday Inn. You can get a registration form on the website www.skydiveseb.com. You can register with a credit card by email or phone if you would like as well. What other details would you like? Hurry and register!

EXACTLY!!! I talk shit all the time...

Definately a yes an no answer to that one. Yes, they should know BUT as a student they probably only ever turned it on (if they even did) the one time an instructor showed them every other time it was probably already on when they picked up the rig. There are a lot of things people are told in AFF that they don't retain because someone else is always doing it for them or it just doesn't really apply to them yet and their heads are so full of other stuff... worrying about whether they will live or not because they just don't really have a clue what they are doing yet. So cut them some slack and just always be helpful to the new jumpers around you. So few of them are perfect - like all of us!

She had better be a dud! Jeanne is pretty wimpy but looks like she is going in a circle out in the Atlantic, Karl looks kind of nasty but is projected to stay well away from all of Florida but LISA - who the hell can say what bytch's storm will do!

It is nice to see everyone stand up so we know they are ok but if it is matter of you getting dragged more or sitting on your canopy - sit on your canopy - they'll get over it. However, rather than landing and bracing against the wind while pulling in one toggle like most people do - land, work on that one toggle while running to the other side of your canopy. It pulls the nose after you, closing off the openings so that the canopy does not refill with wind pull you off your feet and drag you uncerimoneously across the landing area, taxiways, etc., etc. Anytime its even a little windy while you are stowing your toggles if you just casually walk around your canopy to the other side the nose will get covered over and you wont have to worry about a sudden gust. The canopies I jump now aren't a problem but when I was still on good sized canopies any wind would pick me up and take me away since I'm barely 100 lbs.

You could have come to see us in Sebastian! We had a nice first weekend back after being closed since the early this month. I didn't think they'd ever get our plane back down either, or the power up, or water running... Then I figured everyone would still be too busy putting their lives back together but yesterday was a really nice day and today has been pretty steady as well. It's kind of fun having everyone pack in the main hangar (since there is no more packing hangar).

I'm PADI cert. since '93. After taking up skydiving, though - it has taken a back seat. A group from Sebastian used to go every Tuesday in the summer since the dz is closed a few years ago but my fellow divers have all moved away.

very nice! The check is in the mail!

oooohhh!! thanks for the clicky thingy mabob. Coconut Cay has nice areas to hang out in if we want to do our own thing but we also found a pretty nice bar down the street (near the Holiday Inn) that we kind of dominated last year. I'm sure we'll be spending a few evenings there. I'm making a run down there in the next week or two (between hurricane evacuations) to try to solidify the party plans.

It was so good to have a few jumpers back in town and see the plane fly again. If the weather stays good for us it should be a nice weekend and of course, with Marco back in the states for the weekend - that calls for a little Sebastian celebration.
-
EEEK!! You can stay at the Holiday Inn. The rooms were fine but I wasn't happy with the management. How dare they try to shut down the DJ before he even started to spin. We are going to invade the Coconut Cay this year for the most part although I think that The Island - the restaurant across the street from the Holiday Inn - will still be seeing more than they want of us! Actually, they were really good natured with us. I don't think they threw out anyone! Not even sickwill!!

how about a severe weather forum?
-
What a bonehead I am!! November 11 - 14! Registration will be $40.00, jumps are $20.00, we'll have a skyvan, super otter and the helicopter, beach jumps at sunset.....party on Saturday night.
-
That would be awesome! Since Ivan missed the Keys for the most part we'll still have a beautiful place to jump!
-
I heard you beeping me - but my cell gets real crappy reception at the house so I figured I'd call you from work. Now hurry up and get out here so we can jump... alright so you can jump since I'm still grounded with a broken wing.
-
Is there jumping in Florida this weekend?
bendywendy replied to kaerock's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Yes, the plane came back yesterday afternoon - now all we need is the jumpers to return and it looks like some of them are trickling in as we speak. -
I must be a Floridian. I just got power back last night after hurricane Frances - and water.... it brought tears to my eyes to flush the toilet without bailing the water into the back of the toilet from the dwindling supply in the tub.
-
Happy Birthday, Chuckie boy!!!
-
I do, I do! I'm tired of being hot & sticky. I'm almost out of the water I filled my tub with before the storm. When that runs out I wont even be able to flush the toilet.

The most important reason we have a minimum on the license for this boogie is because of the landing area. There is a good sized area to land in but next to no outs whatsoever! It's pretty amazing from the air to look down and see this narrow little island that you are landing on but because of this you really need to be accurate with your landings. We used to make it a C license with a minimum of 200 jumps but since they raised the requirements for a C we don't have to make that specification anymore. Sorry, get out and make those jumps - you've got plenty of time!!
