  1. No real idea yet. It has been dragging on and on forever. They are doing a lot of work at the airport. We have our lovely anti-terrorist fence (that keeps us from swooping the golf course pond), they have built some new t-hangers and the runway/taxiway switch should happen within the next couple of weeks - which we may even have to close while they do that - so if you suddenly hear we are closed for a few days - it isn't permanent they are just switching over the runways. There are some new negotiations being opened up between the dz owners and the town so things may be looking up.
  2. Thanks, Rosa! Look at the damn sky in that picture. I was so sick of seeing that every day! Of course, when I woke up Sunday morning and was getting ready to head to the airport ... oh wait, I forgot I didn't go to bed that night... anyways)... when I was getting ready to leave I noticed that it was about the nicest day of the convention now that everyone was gone. Warm, blue skies but very few people left.
  3. that was me! which guy that chased us on a golf cart? Oh wait, only one cart attempted the chase literally through the food tent.
  4. I think I did get pulled around by pretty much every type of motorized vehicle there was there! I was bored, weather stunk and you can only eat & sleep so many of the hours of a day away. At least I finally got a few jumps in on Saturday before I left the next morning. Now Saturday night was a tough one!
  5. I still wish I had gotten over to the dz.com tent once or twice before Sunday morning and met everyone!
  6. It isn't anything to get too flustered over yet. This thing has been in the works for years. It isn't going to shut down the dz. It may inconvenience us for a little while but it will work out in the end. What would be really nice would be to just rebuild in the new area but who can afford that? New facilities would be so cool. Why didn't that damn hurricane come our way instead of taking down the awesome hanger in Lake Wales. It would of sucked for awhile but then we'd have to rebuild!
  7. There is one bonus to the whole thing. The trees will be cut down and can anyone say.... swoop pond. In reality the main draw back to the move is that they aren't going to build us new facilities. They'll give us some land but who has to pay to rebuild - the dropzone... or we have to keep our facilities where they are and bus people back and forth - which I've been to dz's that do that and it sucks. This has been in the works for years but it is getting closer to becoming a reality. I watch each day as new hangers go up and construction moves closer and closer to our landing area. Pretty soon the switch will be made with the open runways. They are going to close the airport for a day or two in a week or the week after to pave those and close down 31 - 13 permanently. Oh well, what's a little adversity... That's pretty funny too - I hadn't seen the article, I love the way they misquote people all the time. Do you think it's on purpose?
  8. I was last minute! Didn't know I was going until a few days before hand. I never got to spend anytime at the dz.com tent. Didn't even get to meet Sangiro, damn it! But Macca was scaring me so I didn't dare hang out there. I didn't want any broken bones, stitches, bruises.
  9. It's Saturday (as in TODAY).... who knows about the actual date...things are hectic. Saturday night jumps then party. My dates have been all screwy. I keep thinking I'm leaving for Rantoul on Friday but the tickets are actually for Thursday.
  10. I'm not sure if the couches will actually still be there. I've been moving stuff out the past couple of days. I've taken the king size bed over to the new place already but you can have space where ever. There will be lots of floor space if not bed/couch space and you are welcome to it.
  11. Well, a lot of people are off to other places & doing other things - which is not necessarily a bad thing. I don't mind this staying small at all since now that I'll be going to Rantoul - I've got major pressure getting that crap all together & moving & cleaning the old place. So smaller & more intimate will be just fine by me. For those who make the effort to come & jump that weekend though - if they know the password they can have $15.00 jumps all weekend. And the password is???..... pm me! And Jameson, who says anyone will ever see my new place? (Yeah, right....)
  12. Well, it's about time! No I'm not running away. I know it's hard to believe. This is the longest I've lived in one place since the last time I was married! I'm staying in Sebastian, kind of - moving across the line into Micco. I'm trading the pool & tiki bar for a fenced in yard for Kuma. I've been feeling very guilty about those long days she has to stay at the house now that dogs can't come to the dz. So my little Methane boys, you'll still have a place to stay. I'll still have 3 bedrooms. Remember though - keep your methane to yourselves. This is not CrossKeys!
  13. Oh yeah, it's official but it ain't over till it's over! I'm thinking that a couple days of special jump ticket prices are in order for this. Would you guys like to see a small discounted price (like a couple dollars off a jump) or maybe a package of 10 jumps for $15.00 each to be used from Friday - Sunday (and we can have a change over fee so that unused tickets aren't wasted). Tell me what you want to see happen and we'll make it work! For those of you who have been to the last few events where we've had fireworks - you know it's a good show. If everyone wants to donate something to the fireworks fund - we'll try to make it even bigger & better than the last time. (By the time we get around to the bytch boogie -we'll be putting on bigger firework shows than most towns for the 4th.) get in your favorite requests for jello shot flavors and do we want another kick ass BBQ??? Let's GO BIG!! Anyone know any DJ's or bands? Oh get the requests for the beds, couches & futon in early. There is one king size available, one twin, one double futon (very comfy), 1 regular couch, 1 extra long couch with recliners on either end. If you are desperate there is a loveseat too, oh, yeah and the new recliner.
  14. Since weather has been toying with us all day - we decided to do ours now! It was a small but very nice tracking dive. Sorry no photos. Forgot my camera. We said this is for Nate before exit and said goodbye to him on landing.
  15. We will put one together at Skydive Sebastian this weekend.
  16. I'm working on it!!! We only had one video going and he's been busy jumping all day. Katie - where are you, biotchimo?????
  17. It was a nice pieing job, Stacy, even if we did end up a little messy ourselves. & I didn't find it terribly stickey but I still can't see right out of my right eye and I think I snorted a fair amount.
  18. You know that's what was missing - cameras. My shirt is still wet! Actually so are my shorts. Where's crabby Katie? How did we hijack this thread so thouroughly?
  19. Should have come and visited the bytch and I. We are jumping and you could have had the pleasure of helping pie her! Although she did get even. I'm now sitting in manifest with a soaking wet shirt & hair. Yes, it's that skanky Sebastian water too. I love smelling like rotten eggs.
  20. I just heard the terrible news. There really isn't much that can be said. This is the bad part about skydiving, losing friends. Those of you there - take care of Katie!!
  21. Crosskeys is the way to go in the Philly area - hands down!! They've got it all just make sure you go home or stay out of the way if things start to go too crazy at night. I would think that things are settling down a bit, though - or at least I hope so.
  22. No way!! I got tired of being wet and bedraggled last year! Promise me some sunshine and maybe... and don't forget that "it's not that kind of boogie"!
  23. maybe that would explain it because it certainly attracts very cool people but it just doesn't last and they even have a couple of close cities to draw tandems from to boost the cash flow.
  24. hmmm... as far as my house and tiki bar? I got the drunk call from Chuckie & Katie very early last night. By early I mean early evening not early am. I think that once again Chuckie didn't make it past 9 or 10 pm. ( I don't think he's the party monster everyone claims him to be). Everytime I see him he's out like a light early!
  25. I originally did my AFF at Pahokee back when it was Skydive Palm Beach in I think it was '98. It closed about two weeks after I finished after someone died and my friend broke her neck (she didn't die) on a landing. Since then it has opened and closed several times as several different entities. The dropzone itself is very cool. The area is the armpit of Florida, however. A bunch of us have decided that it is at the tip of the Bermuda Triangle and that it will forever be one of those things that no matter what something crazy and unfortunate happens there. Good luck to whomever takes it over this time - there's always a bunch of people wanting to jump there. I've only been back once after finishing my AFF there.
